:D when you play any match, do you hope to get nets to get a lead? no, no players thinks that way. A lead does not make a player win. Ma Long vs Ling Gaoyuan? Ma Long is 3 sets down and still win.

not necessarily cause most of the other points are edited out. also alot of nets can also be a skill since the player is aiming really low and close to the net making it a quality shot

It is not a strange strategy. Liu Guoliang once coached Liang Jingkun to do the same, with great results.

Ma Long is the GOAT. At this age he uses the red rubber and changes his forehand technique to accommodate speed. Truly the best..

He is old and slow for modern tennis. The game changed drastically because of the new polyball. Close to the table exchanges and backhand oriented game makes it impossible for Ma to compete on the high level. They just keep him afloat to survive till the oncoming Olympic Games to let him take a gold medal as a team member to prove that he is the GOAT, as you say. He is a legend as Wang Liquin, Ma Lin, Wang Hao, Jang Jike but time flies mercilessly.
