Our new trailer was stolen out of UHaul, security gate was breached and videos disabled. Five days later the trailer next to us was also stolen. We learned the hard way that you are on your own. We changed locks on our storage compartments....most trailers use the exact same locks. Our local wire rope company sold me 8' of Pewig square chain and even included a canvas cover to protect my wheels, used an Abus security lock...plus a hitch lock. The harder you make it to steal the more likely they well go for the easy pickings. Don't expect the police to be of any help if your trailer is stolen.

I use a short length of chain which goes around the axle and a 5/8 inch rod, which I made,. I wrap the chain around the axle and put the rod through the chain and through the hole in the wheel. Then I attach a puck lock on the end of the rod on the outside of the wheel. I use washers to take up any space between wheel and lock. Advantage is no exposed, or loose chain wrapped around the tire and very little space between wheel and lock, plus the lock is also protected as it is recessed within the wheel. In order to cut chain you would have to lay on ground under trailer. It's almost impossible to get a bolt cutter or grinder to the lock from outside again due to protection from the wheel and how tight is is to the wheel. The way it is shown in this video you have easy access to both chain and lock from outside. My point is all locks and chains can be defeated, but by limiting access it makes the attacks more difficult.

All of the products are made by master lock. Plus a tongue lock. All that being said, the steel chain Nd a good lock is a inexpensive solution 👍🏻

Yes, we could use links to the chain and the lock. I searched and see the Pewag Chain in various thicknesses. How does that lock do after being in rain? A lot of smaller locks I looked at reviewers say they've become non-functional after they've gotten wet, maybe rust started inside.

Wayne Winton Yup! like your page? Subscribed and absorbed a lot of information and hints. Let me pay back with guilt in doing so as this page is open to all?😞 But here is a little, play it forward?👻 Assuming we'll always buy GOOD STUFF that won't hurt us. Sometimes the engineer's try to give us lesser experts n newbies of which we all ; were? they label some with the word "house"? Imagination needed here ¥ The engineers tried to give you a hint: "HOUSE"! PUT IT IN YOUR ,"HOUSE" but on the HOT side? No power to the power hitch Jack's and stabilizers; leave a switch were they can see it the will turn it. Remember on the negative side all they need to do is "jump to" ground?😞 π Illtelluabout~delaycutting the trailer lights & signals safely; to give law enforcement probable cause to investigate?😉 😞 Risky this! It may elevate their offence of theft to causing an accident. THAT'S way :"later" since I'm working n an intermittent nonchalant inconspicuous LED: I'm stolen! Call 911 / tell them where I am! No not appear to be disturbed: observe ONLY! Do not attempt to approach: BUT CALL 911, PLEASE! OR "I'M STOLEN: CALL 911 PLEASE!" Blinking in font and Morse: SEEN ONLY FROM DIRECTLY BEHIND. 👻 LAWYERS & the shadow government don't want this👻 Yet: I have no objections to: alarms, LO~JACK, on board tracking devices to report theft, locks, clocks, chains, cables, Fences & Walls or a garage taller than mine? I'm just too old to buy more than one little bit of heaven and nature for my family. I care and share but we must wear an I don't care sign? 😪 All you can do is SLOW them down or get them to make mistakes to STOP them! 😉 Be well. Be safe. Be happy!

I watched your demonstration using a ratcheting tie down. What first struck me as strange is you cutting the strap as you did. Those tie downs are designed to work without being cut. Additionally once the strap twists as I observed that it did, it binds in the ratchet itself and can not be tightened completely but you will be unable to continue ratcheting. I would like to purchase your lock and chain but I have my doubts that the amount of force that you are claiming was actually applied. Just saying.
