Great in theory, but extremely difficult in practice depending on the material used for the drawstring. For the life of me, I could not get all the loops cinched tight, and if they aren’t tight, the knot doesn’t work. Oh well.

Not bad, a shame it doesn't work. Most common brands with drawstring waists stitch the strings into the back; so if tension can't be pulled from both sides you can't tighten them, and no matter how close you get it, it'll pull in a way that loosens itself.

think you could show a tutorial on how to solve my water bottle problem? I've got a 40 fl oz klean kanteen. it's a lovely water bottle but unfortunately it lacks a key feature that I see on nalgene water bottles: a loop that keeps the lid attached to the bottle even when it's been unscrewed. I was wondering if you could show us a knot that could attach my lid to my water bottle so that I don't have to worry about losing it when I unscrew it?

Mine are the same as yours. I just tie the ends together. (I use a knot called a sheet bend. But you can just use and overhand knot, if you prefer.) I put the knot at the tip of the bight when I make this drawstring know shown in the vid. That makes it a sort of marker for tightening and loosening the pants.

This does not work on my sweats for two reasons. The cords on my sweats are highly elastic, fluffy, and don't go all away around. Instead they are two cords. (Well now there are two cords after I cut them.) So here is what I discovered: 1. The knot is almost impossible to dress properly. I tried many times before giving up. What I was left with was something that easily slipped and could not keep my sweats on tightly. 2. This knot assumes the cord goes totally around. Not on my sweats. There is only one cord and each end is sewn into the sweats. This knot only pulls one end. The other cord is fixed in place. What I ended up doing was cutting the cord and using a normal square knot with the bights I've used all my life on the shoes. (It must have a name but I'm too lazy to search for it.) I am hoping you have a better knot that addresses all these issues...
