I know a lot of comments here are rather negative, but I would like to point out that this is something that happens fairly often at high level amateur boxing. Both of them are timid because of the potential traps and counters that the opponent may be waiting on. Unlike professional boxing where you prepare for a single opponent, you have so many different people you have to face in the amateurs so you don't really have much idea of what they're capable of until you get in the right with them. Some people approach this very cautiously, which is what happened here in my judgement.

I fought in the Bellevue Washington Junior Olympics back in 1990. I fought a Mexican kid who was short and stocky but he knew how to work the angles and cut the ring down. He could box and punch. I kept him at the end of my jab and kept throwing counter punches. I don't know what the caliber of fighters in the amateurs is like now but back then it was a lot punches per round and a lot of movement in the ring. You had to keep moving or you would get dropped. I won 4-1 majority.

@@Mostouter my work outs back then were: stretch for like 7 minutes, 3 x 5 minutes of skipping, then calisthenics work out: running on the spot, 25 x 8 push ups, 60 burpees, scissors legs flat on the ground, up down in and outs x 100, knee kicks 300, jumping jacks 300, knee raises jumps 250 then you spar 6 to 8 rounds, sometimes more. Depends on what the coach thinks. Then punch the bag for 5 or 6 rounds. The last three rounds of punching the bag we did 15-15 which was 15 seconds hard followed by 15 seconds easy for 3 x 3 minutes rounds. More stretching then go home. Get home and eat a salad, roast beef or chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, garlic toast, spaghetti and noodles and canned fruit.

@@Mostouter The road work outs were long. At the time, I trained in the mountains running and running on the track. You warm up doing light jogging for 15 to 20 minutes around the track. Then you stretch. Then you do intervals. I would sprint for a 100 meters then jog for a 100 meters then sprint again. I would do 8 of those. Take a little break then do 4 x 200 meter intervals. Crazy work outs. I'd run 45 minutes to an hour of free running in the mountains. The last 15 minutes I would run hard. This cardio work out really help my boxing. It gave me the edge in a lot of tournaments. Most fighters back then start to tire by mid way of the fight. And I would feel fresh and start pouring on the pressure and cutting the ring down. Good times.

Watched this kids highlights, he has no knockout power and always wins by decision. All he does is use his reach to keep backing u down and gets little points in but runs after he throws his jabs. No aggression, no killer instinct, only boxing because his dad makes him, no power and I guarantee you as his opponents get harder and more experienced then they will figure him out like if there reading him straight out of a book.
