This is the best judo gi in my opinion. bit.ly/2QYQwqX I like simple and minimalist. This is their entry level gi and it is my absolute favorite. What is your favorite gi?

Nice vid. Fuji has become one of my favorites for both Judo and BJJ as well. I remember back in the day when Fuji was like the cheaper brand you'd suggest to people if they couldn't afford a nicer gi like a Mizuno Eurocomp (my favorite all time judo gi but they don't make them anymore), but they have put so much work into that brand now and thier gis in the last 10 years they are really stellar now and still very affordable. And for BJJ the Sekai is my #1 favorite, just fits so well and is also very reasonably priced. Out of the 30+ gis I have I have 4 Sekai's because they are so good.

When it comes to judo gis should you get a size smaller so i can be well fitted to your body? I know they will shrink but judo gis come baggy even when you buy it according to your body measurements.
@doriankiss1

@@slickwilly6868 Judo gi is meant to be baggy. When you are throwing someone, it's important to have enough material to hold on to so you can guide them into a safe and gentle landing, supporting them. When you throw people in BJJ gis and try to hold them up to give them a nice landing, it will hurt your fingers after a little while, because your fingers will get twisted in the tight sleeves.

Off the top of my head, there are two main differences. The weaves, and the trims. Judo gi's are either single weave or double weave (except for the skirt part, which is below the belt area and is a rice weave) (and to be ijf certified [for big competitions] they have to weigh around 750g/m^2 or something like that). Bjj weaves on the other hand are plentiful, with the two aforementioned ones, but there's also pearl weave, gold weave, and more. The trims are the biggest difference though. A judo gi will have more slack around the sleeves, a longer skirt, and thicker lapels, while a BJJ gi is more tapered to the body. There's also a color difference I guess since judo gi's only come in white or blue, and BJJ gis come in white, blue, and black (with all sorts of other colors and patches [pink, red, camo, etc] available for training, which isn't really the case in judo) A judogi will be legal in a BJJ tournament that follows IBJJF rules, assuming it is the correct size. You would not be allowed to wear a BJJ gi at a judo tournament that uses IJF rules. I'd say that you get a judo gi if you're doing judo (for cheap judo gis the Fuji double weave should last you a while) and if you're doing BJJ, get a BJJ gi. That's what I can say from the top of my head, but if anyone has anything else to add or correct me go ahead.

The most frustrating thing about martial arts gear is in the sizing especially if you're a big strong guy because they're all made for slender Asian frames. I'm 6ft tall 300lb with a 50" waist and only a couple products fit me but none of them wrap properly except ones I had to tailor down in height. All they do is up size the entire product... they don't make it for bigger stronger people so if I get a gi that fits me I have to tailor it down from the seven-foot-tall cut they deliver to your door because the ridiculous manufacturers just assume the same frame at the same standard dimensions rather than keeping it of average height/length and just making it bigger to accommodate a larger more powerful individual. When I was 350lbs I only had two gis that would fit and they were hard to find and exorbitantly expensive for what they were...Fuji 10 and MACS 12 (these were the largest commercial Gis available but of course they were cut for people who were 10 ft tall so they are comically long!
@jibrankhan6072

KuSakura makes your size. It would be the 5.5LL, which means a standard 5.5 that is made two sizes wider, instead of you being forced to wear an overall enormous gi. You’ll only be able to get this size in the Japanese-made models, because the overseas models are only in standard sizes (that would put you back in the position of getting a judogi designed for a seven foot tall person), but right now the yen is weak enough that their judogi are like 30% off, so it’s a good time to buy. Check out their website and size calculator.
