BEST JRPGs of the 2010s! [By year]

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2010s! We’ve recently been through the best JRPGs of the 90s and 2000s, and now it’s time to dig into the most recent decade! This video will follow the same format, with the same rules, as my previous videos of the 90s and 2000s. I’ll be choosing one single video for each year, and the release dates will when they were first released in Japan. This list is also just my personal opinion, and I know it will be totally different to yours, so let me know what your favorite RPGs are, by year, in the comments below.

Yes! Cold Steel 1 was my entry also! Playing Reverie now, I think I'm going to go backwards to Zero and then Sky lol, I'm already out of order so why not :)

Xenoblade chronicles 1 is my favourite game in all of the 2010s and it’s one of my favourite games of all time.

great list!! personally Dragon Quest XI also make a great addition for this list
Only thing I disagree is for 2012. For me it should be Fire Emblem Awakening.
Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is my favorite game of the 2010s, especially since it revitalized my love for JRPGs.

These are my favorite for each year. 2013 was a year that I went back and played a ton of old school and I think Dragon's Crown was really the only game from that year that I've played. 2010 Xenoblade 2011 Dark Souls 2012 Bravely Default 2013 Dragon's Crown 2014 Dark Souls 2 2015 Bloodborne 2016 Persona 5, Dark Souls 3 just barely missed the list tbh. 2017 Dragon Quest XI 2018 Octopath Traveler 2019 Etrian Odyssey Nexus Now to go watch the other two videos.
Great list. Although I am sadden that Dragon Quest 11 didn't make it to the list. But the rest is great nevertheless.
Brill list totally agree good to have someone who knows what is good :)

Love your videos. You're one of my favorite JRPG channels. So every decade other than the 00s and 10s have the same naming convention in popular parlance. Twenties. Fifties. Eighties. Etc. This is dumb, we should have the same naming convention for all. So join me in calling the 00s the oughties and the 10s the tennies. It's so much nicer.

Thanks mate. I can get around the tennies, but there's something about the noughties never sat right with me. At least we have the twenties now. Sounds great.

Great list, I have played enjoyed most of the games. This is my own ranking. 2010 Xenoblade Chronicles (Radiant Historia,Trails from Zero and Nier are really strong contenders) 2011 The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure 2012 Tales of Xillia 2 2013 The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2014 The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II 2015 Xenoblade Chronicles X 2016 Persona 5 2017 Nier Automata 2018 The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV 2019 Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is my favourite game of all time. Even today I find myself going back to play it despite the ever increasing backlog.
Early 2010s were actually fine if you don't completely ignore handhelds.
The wall stands zero inches tall? I mean its far from finished but a very large portion has been built stretching miles. It's quite tall.
I actually started the Trails subseries by playing Cold Steel II. I do not recommend this. I'm not sure what I would put in their place because I don't have a JRPGs released by year list handy but I'm certain the Xenoblade games and Dark Souls II wouldn't make the cut. I don't hate them but I greatly prefer the gameplay in Xenogears, plus the first and third Xenosaga games to either of the Xenoblade games I've played (I and II) And I've never really been fond of Soulslike games. I think I've played Dark Souls II and III and those are the only From software Soulslikes I have played though I played a couple of Soulslike games by other developers.
It hink what defines a JRPG is not the country the game was made in, but the gameplay and mechanics. Undertale is closer to a JRPG than Dark Souls.
