BEST HOT DOGS IN OHIO! - Top 10 MUST EAT Hot Dog joints in Ohio
We have been on a mission the last couple years and that mission is to find the greatest must eat hot dogs and the best hot dog joints in the state. We are always on the move and anytime we heard of a Must Try hot dog place in the area we visited, we just had to check it out.
So here is our top 10 list of best hot dogs in the state of Ohio...
10. Senate - Blue Ash- These guys are purveyors of great street food. Food and Wine Magazine has named them "The Best Hotdog in America" several years in a row. They have such wonderful and creative dogs like the Korean Dog toped with their homemade kimchi, their croque monsieur top with béchamel and fried egg.
9. Hot Dog Shoppe = Warren, Ohio = This is a long running old school fast food joint. They serve a cheap and yummy dog on a warm steamed bun.
8. Dan's Dogs Hot Dog Eatery and Diner - Medina, Ohio - A festive place featuring 1950's style decor, juke boxes at every table and the best root beer floats and shakes. Their hotdogs have a wide array of garnishes.
7. Dirty Franks Hot Dog Palace - Columbus, Ohio - Dirty Franks serves Vienna Beef franks with a large amount of toppings to choose from. It's a cool hang out spot with a fantastic bar and drink list.
6. Tony Packo's Toledo, Ohio - Tony Packo's has been serving authentic Hungarian food since 1932. Tony's is best known for their signature chili hot dogs and their restaurant filled with hot dog buns signed by famous people.
5. Jib Jab Hot Dog Shoppe in Girard, Ohio - This is a low key hot dog shop with counter service eating. A Jib Jab dog is everything a dog should be delicious and cheap.
4. Mad Dogs and Beer in Marysville, Ohio - All beef dogs served on a brioche bun served with crazy toppings.
3. Scooter's World Famous Dawg House in Mentor, Ohio - Scooter's is just minutes away from Mentor Headlands Beach on Lake Erie, so being a beach place that makes this a seasonal hot dog joint. It is truly one on the best hot dogs in Ohio.
2. Eli's BBQ in Cincinnati, Ohio - This is a fantastic BBQ joint. So good that most people don't even realize they serve hot dogs and not just any hot dogs but one of the best dogs we've ever eaten. The hot dog spends a little time in the smoker and then is dipped in the fryer topped with slaw, BBQ and pork crumbs.
Before getting to our number 1 here are the honorable mentions. Once a year Ohioans flock the The Great Geauga County Fair the largest and oldest fair in Ohio and while there you must treat yourself to a corndog.
Next on or list is getting a hotdog at the stadium, Progressive Field. Are you even really from Ohio if you haven't had a dog slathered in Bertman's Stadium Mustard while taking in and Indians Game.
1. Happy Dog in Cleveland, Ohio - Happy Dog is a cool neighborhood corner bar and its a bit of a dive, and I mean that in the very best way. This place feels like home. Their hot dogs are their own secret recipe and made local. They have over 50 gourmet toppings to choose from. They have the regular toppings you would expect like slaw, mustard, ketchup... but they also have the bizarre like Fruit Loops, Spaghetti O's, Peanut Butter, Flaming Hot Cheeto's and more.

The nacho dawg at Scooter’s is a great hot dog, so I was glad to see them on the list. I need a hot dog like RIGHT NOW! 🤣

Really nicely done!! Your commentary and hints were right on. We are super fans of Scooters in Mentor Ohio!! But Happy Dog in CLE is a close second!! We think the actual dog in Scooters tastes better. Thanks for the post supporting Ohio's Hot Dogs! And we will DEF try #2 Eli's BBQ in Cincinnati if we ever go there!

We love hotdogs. Never realized there were so many different type of hot dogs. We are a Chicago Hotdog type of family. You guys do love your hotdogs. You always dress your kids in ties 😀. The viewers on your Channel do love your travel food videos. I really want to go to NY for the Hotdog Eating Contest! Yes! Tony Packo’s made the list. My channel goal is to get big enough to sign a hotdog bun. Did you plan this series or did you just have a lot of hotdog videos.

I had this planned for awhile. We've had the best dog in every state, but we weren't filming when we started that list. Chicago is probably the best and the hardest to narrow down to just one but our fav is Superdawg Drive In.

There's a few in Mansfield Ohio coney island inn,coney island diner then there's Porky's but it's not a hot dog joint but they have them.

The Hot Dog Shoppe and Jib Jab are the same. Chili is even made at the same location.
Senate looks like a spot I could go OFF on. Maybe not the kid...too fancy. Love the feel of Dan's - the Happy Days-style decor and ambiance. Sauerkraut? "Not at all, because I HATE Sauerkraut!" Brilliance. Tony Packo's looks legendary! Had seen them from our pals Santos Chronicles...who are from that city Toledo is in, Chicago. 😉 Mama Mia Pizza Dog....OMG. Eli's...WOW. WOW. Happy Dog...from fruit loops to confit pulled pork? In. Sane. But you MUST MUST MUST go to Hillbilly Hot Dogs north of Huntington, WV. OUR favorite hot dog visit on our travels. An atmosphere unlike any other, and the dogs are RIDICULOUS.

I am sorry but Happy Dog is over priced not worth even going to, I went one time and will never return. Hot Dog diner is better overall price and (some) of the hot dogs best thing is the sauces you can pick out.

happy dog is overrated. the dogs aren't that great. the fries though are awesome.
