Hi Michael, I've owned a Puritan PSM 156 and the Ultimate power cord for over a year. This piece of equipment will never leave my system....one of the best acquisitions I've ever made. Another acquisition that will never leave my system, my Aperion aluminum ribbon super tweeter.....fantastic!

As a power conditioner, I use a Tripp Lite Isobar wall plug-in unit, no cord. I even add an obsidian crystal tower to sit on top of the Tripp Lite. My goal is to stop and clean the noise after thousands of miles of dirty line noise at the wall. From there, I use some eB pure silver cables with Furutech NCF ends to provide even more grounding between the wall and power distributor. My power distributor is another eB no name product that uses Furutech outlets and pure silver wiring. Attached to that, I adhere a Furutech NCF booster to diminish even more noise. Beyond this, I apply Furutech Liquid Nano on all my contacts.

I ran two 10 gauge runs of Romex to my audio room when we moved and am on the same power grid as the counties emergency services folks, so power has been unbelievelably stabe and reliable over the years. The only thing I've ever added is and Ayre L-5xe, which does not limit current. I'd be interested in comparing it to the Puritan. Thanks for the review!

Hey. I very much enjoyed your comments on the Puritan 156. I've been waiting for the 156 to become available here in New Zealand after initial shipments sold out, it would seem their popularity is causing delays. I have heard the 156 in an Accuphase based system. The owner also had an Isotek Aquarius 5 so we swapped about through the evening. It was fun. In truth, and perhaps because of our inexperience in such matters, we heard very little difference between the two units. We used a Supra board as something to compare the two against. Both outperformed the SUPRA. In the end I purchased the Isotek Aquarius 5 because as you so rightly said, it suited my system. However. I also purchased the Puritan Groundmaster City. Which I installed first and I must say made a noticeable difference in the overall presentation. Insight was the term both of us used when comparing both the Puritan 156 and Isotek Aquarius 5. Very much enjoy your channel. Keep up the great work. Cheers

If you get dedicated audio lines with say 10 awg audience wiring to put in your home and good furutech plugs that will help more than "just a" power conditioner. The Cable company helped me out and my electrician installed it all. I also have some pretty high end gear that doesn't need as much tweaking from power conditioners from Burmester from my 088 pre and 911 Mk3 power amp. Lower cost gear sometimes needs power conditioning more as well as dacs and preamps, streamers can be helped. I would never plug a good power amp into a power conditioner unless i lived in some zulu forest with a bad power grid. Power amps really do have nice power supplies built in after the 20-30k-40k mark.

I'd love to see Studio Power Conditionners ( 19" Rackmounted ones) against HiFi ones. I'm fairly sure they have a better price/performance ratio. I Use a Black Lion Audio PG2 (F Type for me, I'm in Europe), and you're right, that's been the best upgrade i've ever made in the past years, so much improvements in the system.

Love the insightful research, testing and conclusions - thank you! One observation (and 99.9% of presenters do the same!): When you gesticulate a forward time-line, you move your hands from left to right; this is completely natural. It is, however, the completely wrong way round for your audience/viewers.

I concur. A rare case of a cheaper device vastly outperforming much more expensive ones. Dead quiet, strongly recommended with their Ultimate power cord. It blew out of the water the Cadence costing three times more and an Isotek Sigmas costing the double. Even more effective if paired to the Ground City Master and the line grounding master devices.

I have the Transparent Powerbank 6. I don't know if it does anything other than adding some surge protection? The outlets on it are very cheap. Some of the power cords I've used have broken plastic pieces off the power conditioner outlets. I have everything except the mono blocks plugged into it: preamp, phono stage, TT, CD player. I've heard a lot of good things about the Puritan 156. It's just a matter of time until I add one to the rig.

I've been heavily into power conditioning for over 20 years, I currently use an Isotek aqaurius evo3 and a Elektra V5. I've had Audioquest niagra 5000, PS audio, Puritan and Shunyata just to name a few. I've learned that it's important to first check how your property is wired up. I have 3 x 20 amps incoming, i used an electrician to re-group say, washing machine, heating system, fridge, freezer, electric cooker, ventilation system and so on so that i could use a single 20amp for my stereo system, also work out how much your system draws, most people with big power amp do not use a power conditioner because the amp sucks the life out of everything else that is in the same chain. I found that an Isotek elektra V5 with the 4 x 5amp 220v lower power part of the filter worked best with my tube preamp and dac compared to everything else i've tried. I even added a Synergistic research purple which lifted the sound to another level. Also power cable from the wall to the filter can make a huge difference. To sum up power conditioners, it's like tasting food, it's each to there own as to what sounds best on there system not so much the name of the product.

When I owned the 156. it worked great on sources and not very well on power hungry amps like the Pass X350.8. the amp would lose headroom and soundstage/dynamics had shrunk. Without mains power, no audio or audio-visual component can function. Your musical enjoyment is reduced by main's noise contamination... this can be from differential or common mode mains noise. Differential noise is created by power supplies in all electrical devices, while common mode noise is introduced by RFI and wireless communications, which, btw are becoming increasingly common. "If you got to receiver and your speakers are pushed up against the wall, this is not for you," lol 😂😂 IDK why I'm laughing cos even though my speakers might not be up against the wall. At the end of the day, they're going through a receiver 😂 Well, least an audiophile grade one anyway. However, after auditioning 3 Japanese AVR's, I totally get where you're coming from with that remark, and to think I've spent well over £4,000 on cabling and conditioning 😂 Love listening to you.
