Thanks sir, means a lot. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. What's nice about the light is its focus, so it's not floody, so more covert than my petzl lamps and its battery versatility is really awesome.

@@AlphaPews I was looking that the Petzl and currently run a Black Diamond headlamp with the RGB and strobe, but it has no adaption for the helmet. Was lloking at the Surefire HL-1 but its more than double the price. This lamp looks more versatile, and checks all the 'boxes'. Thanks again brother. You just got a new subscriber !👍

@nathan-ls8yw always the way. for a night patrol or vehicle stuff would be ideal. its an ugly duck but its gets the job done and seemingly great on battery

I have this headlamp. I find this rather pricey, but bought it anyway. (Buy once, cry once, right?) I have no regrets. It is a tough, versatile headlamp and I like it a lot that it is regularly in my everyday carry bag. The biggest downside of this product is that at some point in time, the internal power button gets dislodged from the circuit board. This is due to the way the switch is mounted on the circuit board. In effect, the only thing preventing the internal switch from dislodging are the legs of the switch soldered to the circuit board. This issue is also mentioned in one Amazon review. To address this, I reinforced the connection of the internal switch to the circuit board by putting some epoxy around the area the switch is soldered to the circuit board. Hopefully, that will prevent the switch from coming loose.

I've had mine for almost 3 years now and it's been a great piece of kit. It's a bit of a pain to mount to an ACH since some are slightly thicker than others, so I gave it some persuasion with a multitool. Battery life has been good and is only on it's second battery since new. Overall just really happy with it and it comes in very handy on mission when you need both hands free to get the job done vs a hand held model.

Just bought one - excellent - thanks for the recommendation. How did you fasten the light mount to the side rail? I'm struggling to think how to fit it to my bump helmet as the mount clamp seems to be for a thicker ballistic helmet.

Nice, I really love mine. I have the rail mount-managed to find one on Amazon. But I find myself using the headtorch strap as the variable angle is so useful

how far does it illuminate for you? how many feet?

Any battery compartment will take smaller batteries with enough aluminum foil and tape, as long as you match voltages and be careful not to short them bitches out!

I've never recommend it especially if the devices cost lots of money. I'd rather not mess up a nice device. But in a pinch and if life depended on it, not a bad solution.

I'm looking for a helmet light for NV I have a gen 3 tube would the ir be bright enough to navigate in the woods with?

do you know the FOM of the tube? if not then in principal yes as most G3 tubes have a good amount of gain so any IR light will be seen. But if you tube is clear and bright enough you'll find you don't need much extra unless it's thick canopy on a moonless night.

it's a tricky question without knowing how bright the tube is. I used the same helmet light with a white gen 2+ and if defo worked but the difference between my 4G tube and 2G+ was really significant

The fom is 2100 but the EBI is only .46. I live in a super heavily wooded rural area. When we go out supplemental ir is needed alot of the time no matter the specs of the tubes.

@Dylan Brown ah cool so on high setting this will be fine but the range is short. I usually have my vampire as a long range on left side of lid. and on right the streamlight for close up stuff. up to about 20ft it's good to go.

I had one for 4 years, but I had to turn it in for cif

I was doing some NV navigation with a buddy, He was rocking the surefire usual flavour, both have pros and cons, but the battery, better white and colour outputs just rock. I havent found anything to replace it, granted its a chunky device

Depends on type I suppose but depending on what I'm doing i use in ear and over ear. I guess these ear pro that mount to your lid might get near but as it's got molle mount and rail mount you can move it fairly easily

What about NVG mount?

Decent. I'd say slightly brighter than surefire helmet light. What nv are you running. I only ask as lower gen tubes are less sensitive so the result will differ. The colour modes, mounting and white output is very good tho. This light has got me out of a few jams when doing tasks when I needed to wear a lid

protec alpha bravo half shell, it's now dod issue so you might not be able to purchase it direct. my other favourite lid is team Wendy. inside my lid is all team Wendy liners and the retention cam system. defo the most comfort I've had.

Batts? AAA, Yep I've seen they work but have lower runtimes. In a pinch defo viable.

My PVS-14 illuminator is much brighter than the Sidewinder Compact II in infrared mode. The RWB colors are also pretty dim. Consider the Sidewinder Compact II a map light, nothing more. So I sent this toy back for a refund, and then I bought a REAL light.

maybe you got a faulty unit. my onboard IR had a focused beam due to the led type. so this is a wider flood. i tested surefire also and this wins in my view. But your experience with your tube specs etc will differ. what sort of tube specs you running? also i think of onboard ir as a backup not primary, as if that stops working, it's a new battery housing for the 14.

@@AlphaPews I wanted a light that would allow me to use a stopped-down iris on my PVS-14 indoors. The Sidewinder was overpowered by my onboard PVS-14 illuminator. Now I run a Surefire Scout.

@Down_Time_Productions ah i see thats makes sense. yeah ive used iris also. brilliant for reading or squaring away weapons etc. I love being able to rotate and tilt it tho. my scout light vampire lives on my rifle so i couldnt justify a second for my lid. but that being said surefire and malkoff are my go to illumination brands.
