Congratz for the 200K subs Johnny :D you rock \../
i'm 35 and I host a yearly night with all my old high school and elementary school friends i grew up with. I buy 3 cases of beers, order 4 extra large pizzas, and usually about 15 of us party, drink and play video games all night. it's my favourite night of the year.. Game nights are the best man!
About 7 years ago, my best friend and I played through Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess over the span of about 2 weeks. We were just in the zone, passing the controller back and forth and helping each other solve the puzzles. It's one of those times in my life I will always look back on and cherish.
31 now, a father, husband, 3 pets, house, job, KZread channel, exercise, juggling extended family etc.
This video made me so happy. I had on a dumb grin the entire time.
There's something about this channel... It's just magic. You're one of a kind, Johnny
I love it when you get in to that kind of flow state with a game. I had this with Dragon Quest 5 a while back, where I just couldn't put it down. Those moments become rarer as you get older, but when they happen they are the best.
That happened to me last Xmas Eve with Parasite Eve. Haven't played that game since the PSX days and binged it in 10 hours.
These are the best videos. I don’t know how to say it but your positive stories are unique. The mood this game put you in, this video put me in.
Dude I legit LOVE your stories. So relatable. Congrats on 200K, Johnny! Keep being awesome, dude.
Thanks for reminding me about that feeling at all. Who knows how long it would have taken me to even recall that kind of experience had I not seen your video. Thanks again, Johnny.
I got a tear in my eye watching this
This is why I love your channel Jonny. The way you tell a simple story of a guy who enjoys a night in with a game and a pizza and make it entertaining. I totally relate. These sorts of gaming moments are few and far between as you get older and are all the more special when they happen. Thanks for sharing.
Did it with Super Mario 64 a few years back. Was magical. <3 Got all 120 stars or the first time ever. I always got to 119 when I was a kid. It's amazing how well that game holds up.
Johnny, I’m a bit late on finding and watching this video (even though I’ve been a fan since 10+ years ago), but I just had to comment. This episode is definitely in my top 3 favorite of yours. NOONE can convey as much passion for gaming as you. What you said about “truly great video gaming memories cannot be forced, and just happen unexpectedly” is so true, and I’ve experienced that so many times. Everything just lines up. Your mental state. The weather outside. The time of day. This happened with me on Shenmue. I stayed home sick from school (legit fever), and it was raining outside. Even though I felt bad, I was happy I didn’t have to be at school, and I just had happened to have picked up Shenmue. That morning, after everyone had left for school and work, and I was alone under a blanket, listening to the rain hit the window behind me, I turned on the Dreamcast, and the start up screen lit up the dark cold room. Then came the Shenmue starting screen music. Oh what a day. Everything lined up perfectly. It enabled me to LIVE in that world. I was in Japan. I was Ryo. It became my favorite game of all time. And it is a big influence on why I currently now live in Japan. I hope I can have another video gaming memory like that soon… The most recent one in memory would have to be Subnautica. Playing that with my wife each night after work. Both of us scared out of our minds. Her organizing my inventory, but passing me the controller whenever she dove beyond 300m and got scared. It’s a wonderful game. Please do try it if you haven’t. Anyways, thank you for the video and memories.
Wait until you have kids and the wife says she's taking the kids and you can have a weekend to yourself. Now that's special 👍
I thought your favorite game was Dynamite Dux🦆🦆🦆
Phantasy Star is definitely my favorite game of all time as well. I truly appreciate how much praise you give it. Hopefully it pays off and the series gets a proper sequel....and that it comes to the US.
This kind of stuff is exactly why I love your channel man. Sheer positivity and enjoyment of this amazing medium that I rarely ever see in people. Totally feel the same way, video games are my life and I couldn't be without em!
I been a fan for about 6 months.. I got to say you are my favorite youtuber! Thank you for the genuine stories of the 80's/90's and just all the great videos in general. I never seen another like you on youtube yet.
