This video will show you everything you need to know about repairing your Samsung Galaxy S4 phone with loca glue. Once you get the glass off of your phone, the rest is pretty easy. The trick is to try and not let any bubbles get under your screen when you are laying down the top glass. Try to avoid letting glue seep up into the ear piece area or down into the home button. If glue does get up there, you can usually clean it off from the back with a paper towel and Alcohol. But its best to just avoid it anyway.

Thanks for your video! I was able to successfully replace the screen using the LOCA glue. This was my second replacement of the screen on this phone. The first time I only used the double sided tape. That repair didnt last long so I thought I should try this other method. It was a bit nerve wracking but it worked and I suspect this will help keep the phone intact much longer than the last repair. Thanks for this tutorial! Only had one tiny bubble first try. FYI: for those who want to attempt this but don't have a UV light. I purchased a cheap $9 UV flashlight at Wal-Mart and it worked great!

Years ago I was part of a testing division of a optical lens manufacturer and we were working with plastic lens bonding using loca glue and a machine that held and cured the glue at the same time and the best method for applying the glue was 5% of the required glue be applied to one side and the rest applied to other we also noted that it required far less glue than I've been seeing people use in the tutorials it's a fluid that is intended to be applied so thin that just a cc or two is required also I'd apply the bulk of the glue to the new glass and cure it face down on the light source let gravity help prevent the issues

Just did mine last night, your instructions work very well. I HIGHLY recommend people also watch the glass removal, teardown and tips videos linked in your description. I used wire for the first 1/3 and switched to a card (an Uno #9 to be precise). I much prefer the card over the wire, as it does the same job but you don't have to fumble with the wire between heatings. If I would do one thing different, I'd put a little extra bit of glue in the center of the screen. Having a little extra glue to push out the sides is REALLY handy if you have bubbles to work out. If not, you can work it out the side anyway. Not saying your video was misleading, I just didn't put enough in the middle and had three bubbles to work out. Annoying. The best thing is instead of paying somebody to do it, I did it myself, plus I now have a UV light, IR thermometer and a heat gun - all of which will come in handy at parties.

I have fixed several moto x phones and find that the glass removal process is manageable. This video seems doable as I am quite familiar with UV glue, my only question is that for this particular phone, when the uv glue seeps into the home button, and the light is placed on it, what keeps it from sealing up completely? And would it be more wise to just go ahead and completely remove all parts of this phone to ensure no excess glue goes anywhere you don't want it to?

Zack my man! I have question for you my handsome bald man; I recently purchased whitestone's domeglass for my samsung note 8. I was using one already and I needed to swap the glass cause it had cracked. Anyways there was some problems during the installation and long story short the phone was COATED in that glue. Now I cleaned my phone with alcphol cloth, microfiber cloth, tissue and some water. Now it seems like I didn't get all the glue off since my domeglass surface feels rough and my phone isn't as slick, but rather a bit rough. What would you suggest tp get the glue off? I tried wiping it off with alcohol clot but it didn't do anything and now I am thinking of nail polish remover but I wouldn't want to try it in case something goes wrong and I ruin my phone.

Thanks for this great video. I've been repairing phones using double sided tape only for a couple of days now but I'm going to make the jump to using loca glue. I have a question though, would it be a good idea to first remove the lcd from the phone by disassembling it before putting the glue on it and attaching the new glass to it, to prevent glue from leaking into the phone? Or does that seem unnessecary to you?

  • @JerryRigEverything

    @JerryRigEverything

    10 жыл бұрын

UndisclosedGuitarGuy That is actually a REALLY good idea. And the best way to do it... BUT the only reason that I dont do it, is that you risk breaking the LCD... Its a pretty fragile little guy and its glued in pretty tight. So it just depends on how confident you feel in doing the whole repair. Good question.

Did the same exact process and it was too much glue. It went on top where face camera is and aslo hit where the lcd is attached with flex cable and in about a week touch screen was going haywire. When i would wake screen it would act as if being touched. I advice for little less glue and clear taping top part before placing glass, once dry pull tape out. Thats how i did the next one without any problems.

First off, awesome video! I replaced two S4's using this method and it worked fantastically. However, I have run into a small problem regarding air bubbles showing up AFTER the glass had been placed. Everything looked fine before going to bed that night, but the next day some bubbles showed up along one side and in the corner. My guess is that maybe I squeezed out a little too much of the loca glue through the sides and upon setting there was a little separation. Any tips on somehow being able to get those bubbles out? I was thinking about heating it up and trying to squeeze the air back out, but I fear just letting more air in as well. Any advice would be great. Thank you!

Dustin VanCour If you are using loca glue to hold the glass down... its possible that the glue just hasnt cured enough. (Its not totally dry.) Maybe your UV light isnt strong enough for the 2-3 Minute cure? Id leave it on for 5-6 minutes to see if that will completely dry the glue.

Jerry, you're awesome! Perhaps you're the man for my question. I repaired a Galaxy S4 i9505 glass only and reused the original LCD. I removed the LCD from the middle frame because I dislike the idea of liquid glue getting stuck on the inside of the phone. I used a mold and everything worked fine, except for the bronze aluminum foil on the rear of the phone that doesn't stick well anymore. This causes the glued lcd + glass to not stick very well to the frame of the phone now. So my question is: Is this aluminum foil vital to the phone functionality or can it be removed or replaced by something available in stores? Many thanks in advance for reading and responding! ;)

AnarcheDiver that is what makes the touch work. It will still work even if it is not pretty. Did you buy some cellphone two way tape? Good job on removing the lcd. few do because it is a 100 dollar mistake if it cracks. You could honestly buy about 20 glass screens and experiment with the glue amounts , little to more, until you get the exact amount vs the price of a new lcd.

Great video. The previous owner of my s4 repaired the glass himself, which left a large bubble in the middle of the screen, about 3 x 1 inches. Is there anything I can do to get it out?

If he only put it down with the sticky tape it would be easy to pull up and use LOCA glue on. Or just wait till it breaks again and then use the LOCA.

Thanks for sharing the video. I worked on my mom's S4 and replaced the screen with this method (except I forgot the tape part) and have been absorbing glue from home button for the past 3 days (repair done 3 days ago), not much at all coming out but enough to have to clean. In any case my mom called me saying her phone did it by herself and did it earlier today as well, have you ever experienced this (phone placing calls by itself) or know what it could be? When I get the phone from her I'll strip it down and clean up any glue but was trying to see if you ever came across this after a repair? Fyi I did the tape method first but there was a high point in lcd hitting glass do I opted for the loca method. Also noticed the two soft keys on the sides of the home button getting discolored. Thanks for any feedback!

Jason L Ya, there is always a chance of the screen acting up... I mean... you pretty much did brain surgery on your phone. So it sometimes has side effects. It sounds like you might have used a little too much glue. Its hard to get it just right.

The digitizer on the phone could be faulty? Causing phantom touches - i'm hoping you get to witness it act up, if things are moving around and the phone is doing stuff on its own, something's up with the Digi

I usually have the patience and sense of things to do well at such tasks. Something I've found useful in similar 'projects'; I have found disposable (so clean) hypodermic syringes and needles available at the local farm supply store. The smallest commonly available needle is 21G, which is pretty small and takes a lot of pressure to get anything with much viscosity through it. That said, it occurs to me it might prove helpful in controlling the amount of glue by using less and 'injecting' more as needed, especially at the top of the screen where too much glue getting in the upper components seems to be a common complaint. The obvious problems would be 1) is the glue too thick to be forced through a 21G needle? *One could use a 12G needle and syringe to 'suck' some LOCA into the syringe and then switch to the 21G to 'inject' it behind the glass.* 2) do you think there would be enough room to get a 21G needle behind the glass without scratching anything? A 21G is 0.03225 inch or 0.8192mm OD and 0.02025 inch or 0.514mm ID. 3) bubbles would obviously be more of an issue, but it seems like the biggest area of concern is at the top. The bottom and sides seem less prone to excess glue. I'd be interested in your thoughts on my idea here. Thanks for these videos.

Nice, but maybe I'll stick to the dual sided method myself. It's true the LOCA does make your phone sturdier but if experience told me anything, if it's going to break there's nothing you can do about it, gravity always wins. On the plus sign, if I were to fix a phone that was secured with dual sided tape, it'll be way easier to remove the glass again. Nice video, subbed.

The issue with this is that the air gap between the glass and the lcd/digitizer causes issues if you push on the screen slightly too hard. In my experience, at least with the S4, I've had to use LOCA glue in order to prevent this issue.

+Veteran Repair Shop it's probably different for phones that have the glass and digitizer fused together, rather than phones that have the digitizer built into the LCD.

Ya, man, that happens. There is one more layer of glass that sits on the outside of the LCD and if that gets knicked or the ribbon cable gets tweaked, than it stops working. As far as I know there is no easy fix for it.

Which one is the best glue for sealed lcd screen replacement with 3 type transparent glue, white glue, black glue? Which one is strong bond and harder to attach lcd screen. I always use black glue bcoz it so strong than transparent glue. Bcz black glue is hardener and can tolerant to heat than transparent glue is easy to melting down.
