totally agree, haha 1080 for the kids, 4K for that epic view! plus, when they get older, they will get to see the view they saw but don't remember. No point reminding them they got less cute as they got older.
Even now, 2 years later, this video is super helpful to me. Thank you! I was intimidated by all those other 'how to start into videography' videos but yours encourages me to just do it.

Omar. Thankyou. The best video beginners guide IN THE WORLD.
That family footage was so precious, you seem like such a playful and good dad
Those videos are the sweetest. Very heart warming.
The first video I tried recording with my xt-20 was 4k and I had to upgrade my computer in order to view it. 😂

Omar is psychic. I was just thinking of what video settings do I need if I'm just on holiday and I want to shoot casual video. And Omar answers. Thanks for the tips!
A dad giving great advice for us dads; lol Thanks
Great video for me Omar, I use my Fujifilm for photography and not video !! This will help me when I go video !! 👏👏👏
I am about to enter the Fuji family by buying a Fuji XS10 for my birthday. I remember watching you from your XT-20 days (even as a Panasonic guy) and loved the education I got for Fuji cameras and also your levity that made your videos fun to watch. Seems you have greatly advanced your knowledge over the years so will definitely continue to watch. Thanks for your contributions!
Fantastic presentation. Finally there is practical information that we non professional can actually use :)
I bought a used xt20 last year because of you. I've been using it for 6months, I love taking photos with it.
Exactly what I needed since I am trying more and more with short Movie clips on my Fuji. Thank you :)
Super like this simplified video settings. I just bought my XT-4 and this is certainly helpful for me. Thank you, sir!
Omar: For someone who has an XT-3 and still has little clue as to how to use the multiple settings available your approach is really helpful. Thanks for the info!!!
Omar..you are the reason why i have become a photographer... Thanks for everything that u have been taught to us with very informative and funny way...I am sure there are lots of photographers who could shoot better pics than you but i have doubt that anyone could make a funny, informative and interesting video like u. Please keep up with ur good work and would like to buy some of ur merchandise.. Let me know if u have either online stores or web that I could buy and support your channel.
Great video. So practical, so apt. Just what I needed, just as I am thinking about doing some video with my xe3.
como siempre, muy buenos consejos..gracias Omar
your so sympathetic mate - also appreciate the substance.
Thank you! This was exactly the kind of video I was looking for!
As always, thank you, Omar!
It’s an enjoyable experience just watching your vids. Thanks and hope you and family stay safe
That was so good. For some reason, probably because I hadn’t a scoob about what I was going, have actively shied away from trying out video on my XT-2 and used copped out with my iPhone. Feel suitably confident about giving it a try this Bank Holiday weekend and just see what happens. That was so useful. Thanks Omar
thank you for this! i’m really new to this and i couldn’t understand the other videos about this.
Very useful thanks. I’ve been asked to do some casual photography at a wedding (not the official photos!) and I’d like to get some video clips too. As I usually shoot aperture priority for photography I feel happy that I can do the same for the video and not confuse myself switching too and fro! I should definitely practice first though!
Insanely helpful and super appreciated Omar!!!
Thank you Omar, your video helped a lot!
Thanks, Omar! These tips really help! 👍🏻
Omarrrrrrrr ... Thank you very much!!!! Very helpful 🎉🎉🎉🎉.
Omar, you're like the Jim Carrey of camera videos, your mannerisms and facial expressions bring a lot of fun in watching your videos, love it!
Another quality video, with real world advice.
Thanks Omar, that's a really useful video. I've been wondering what video settings to use on my XT30 as there are so many on the camera. When I used a camcorder I didn't even think about changing anything and was happy enough with the results on holidays. I'll give your advice a go and if the results are as good as yours then that's good enough for me.
This video is very helpfull !! Thank you so much 🙏🏼 👍🏼
Thanks Omar. Great tips. Sweet memories too 👍
Great advice as always. Thanks!
This is so useful. Thank you ❤
This is such a good Video ! Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
That was most helpful, thanks a lot!
Lets go notification gang!!! Thanks omar for good content! 😄🤙
thank you so much, just needed basic stuff .
Love this video, you should do more in videography, simple and hands on. Thanks for the entertaining and helpful piece 👍
Great practical information for us video "newbies". I want to focus on shooting more casual video, both on my X-T4 and my iPhone, but some of the info I have sourced can become quite frustrating. Using VND filters to help slow the shutter speed is great on a Fuji camera, but trying to do so on an iPhone, while keeping the weight low enough to not over-tax a gimbal's motors is a chore. Thanks for helping to change my thinking from "video excellence" to "video enjoyment".
Best tipps, Omar! Always non-academic, but for life ☺️ thx for 👍
Whenever I visit your channel, I learn something .. in a funnier way. Great video as usual. 👍
Great tips Omar. I would add, as far as autofocus goes, just use typical Area AF-C and put your subject in the box. If it’s hunting because of low light or challenging conditions, switch it to AF-S and half-press the shutter to focus as needed during recording and it won’t hunt in-between.
Thanks Omar!
what i gathered from what you said about 4k is that you might as well shoot in 4k. storage is not very expensive...
Thanks, Omar. I heard my XT-3 did video but I wasn't sure.
Nice video! Pls make more such videos for us non-videographer daddies who would like to create good home videos 😄
"The kids don't matter, you can shoot them at 1080p" this should be the title of this video. Thanks!
This was helpful for a beginner like myself!
Useful info, thanks - would have been good to see how the various settings you mention are actually set up in the menus though
The fog cutting thru the golden gate 😍 did u also take a still? That woulda been awesome
Holly sh@t! Where was you hiking? That’s some epic scenery - whoah! Like the video. Super interesting about the 1080p vs 4k file sizes. Had never heard nor thought about that before 👍
Thanks. Never shoot video. But you helped to reduced my how to for video from 10 pages to 8 pages of instructions
Thanks!
Cool vid!
Thanks. If I ever break bad, I'll remember this.
Great video
Great video as a start but would haved love to hear more settings like Autofocus dr-range and so on
You are DA MAN!
I love to do slow motion video clips of wildlife on my XT-2 at 4K. Superb! I am only an amateur though.
Good advice....I always stress about audio when filming family/kid....still haven't found a realistic solution. External mics are such a pain, but internal mics sound so bad (also I have no clue how to process audio).
well said
Nice beard, nice video!

Hi Omar ! Thx for the video. Is it possible to take a photo while making a little video ? For example I would like to take really short videos to make reels on Instagram without having to take my IPhone ton shot it before I take my camera for the shot I want. Just trying to adapt my work in the easiest way ^^
not related question, where is the location at 3:58? that looks amazing
Excellent advice for the uninitiated. Next question: What to do with the video clips? Editing for dummies?

Omar has an older video about video diaries that explains what he does. It was one of the first videos that I watched of his. It's a great idea for documenting your family without having to give all of your time to video.

Best video settings for non videographers = OFF 😂
Would you recommend shooting at F2.8 on Fuji 16-55 or is F2 much better on 16 1.4 lense. I am thinking if its redundant to have both at 16mm even though 16mm 1.4 has macro capability.
Please share you fuji cam settings for photos like portrait.
I didn't even know Fuji cameras can do video ! 📸
Hi Omar...I think you want to say videographer and not video-ographer. 🤓 ...and thanks a lot for your advice!
I still shoot 720p with my xt20. Not much difference with 1080p when watching on your phone, specially most of the viewers are using their phones. 😁
Hi! Gud day! Im a vlogger from the phillipines and I'm using FUJIFILM XT 100. I notice that everytime i record vlog and my camera is on a tripod, whenever i move closer to the cam, it seems like the video is moving (floating) and whenever i distant myself to the cam, it gets back to normal (still video). I wonder if you could help me out with this one and whats causing it to float? Really looking forward to get an answer. Thanks brother Omar. Keep Safe and have a nice day. :)
Next release XT5 or XH2 or XT40?

Full auto turns on continuous AF. Otherwise, use face detection if your camera has it. If not, a ZONE in continuous should do the job.
@omargonzalez On an XT 4, can you actually shoot full auto and what would the settings be ? A-A-A on everything ?

Where you carrying the camera hand held on the footage in San Francisco?
Would be nice settings were it not for constant exposure changes, which make it not very well usable in anything other than home videos.
I'm really tmepted to buy the Fuji XT-20. The prices have gone down quite a bit since the release of the XT-30 How do you find the photo quality of the camera?
@ogonzilla

it's the best IMO...over the XT30. I'd say the XT30's photos are more sharp and color accurate, but the XT20's POP!

Hi! New subber here! Please help me! I have a Fujifilm xt30 and tried to record myself playing piano and it kept trying to focus/re-focus from my body moving and my hands moving! The entire recording was the camera trying to keep focus. I don’t remember what setting I had it on. Any direct advice for setting? Please and thank you!
what is recommened by you on these two settings: H.265 or H.264? All-Intra or Long GOP?
@-grey
3 жыл бұрын
Do you splice and edit video together, or just shoot short clips to view and send to family? Because H. 265 is more compressed so it's easier for saving & viewing, but hard on editing, the other is heavier in all those ways, but is easier to edit. GOP is faster also, it's less strain on the computer.
@MichaelIzner
3 жыл бұрын
@@-grey I make 4 to 10 minute videos and post to youtube for my dad. Sometimes I add a still photo to the video. what do you recomend h.265 or h.264. long GOP or All Intra? I do not use 4K. I use all 1080p - that's just my preference
@-grey
3 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelIzner right now, h.264 is easier on the computer, even if it is a larger file. All-intra is best for deep detail focused editing. Long GOP is the faster file in general. H.264 Long GOP at 100mbps is the way to go, until we all get snazzy new electronics that can handle H.265.

It's such a shame there are no fuji prime lenses with stabilization! If you're like me with a body without IBS you're in trouble hehe. I'd love a stabilized 23mm (35mm full frame equivalent) lens for videography.
Aaaah, the “famous” exposure change stutter plague that affects all fujifilm cameras 😬 wonder how to get rid of it. Also, I miss having the all auto switch on my X-T3 :/

my videos of my xt4 the audio sounds normal during replay on the camera but its static noise when playing on my phone wtf???
So the lowest 4k setting is the 100? nothing closer to the 50mbps of the 1080p? Just curious because sd cards get more expensive and less reliable at higher bitrates right?
Ok, set up per instructions. Check. Take some vids. Check. Hold camera steady? And keep subject in frame? Ha, was that even in the instructions? Took 4 vids of less than a min each. Last one is actually ok. In a very non cinematic way. Imported to LR to view. BUT What now Coach???? Need an OMAR vid stat on what to do next!
In next live i wanna be your kid🤣
My XT2 is very sad now. Never made a video. The closest to video he ever got is on CH.
