At this time I gave a thriving culture of scuds gammarus shrimp. I do have a bbs hatchery but haven’t done this yet. Also collect earthworms to feed larger cichlids after a rainstorm. Thank you my friend!

Another great video, question do you rinse the brine shrimp with tank water prior to feeding? Thank you from NYC
@AquascapingCube
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! No, I don't rinse them and never had a problem with it. Little salty water is actually beneficial sometimes because it protects fish against external parasites.
Very helpful video. Do you also feed the fry in a fish tank with infusoria using a pipette? Do apistogramma fry need infusoria or can they quickly eat baby brine shrimp?
@AquascapingCube
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, sometimes I feed with a pipette in fish tank - there is no problem with it, but you should spot-feed and "aim" for the fry. With Apistogrammas it depends on the type, but most of them are big enough to eat BBS right away (I did it with Hongsloi, Cacatuoides, Nannacaras but also angel fish and many bigger cichlids). Infusoria is often needed for Rams in the first day (they are little smaller). But again - you can always check. If the fish is able to fir BBS in their mouth - you can use it ;)

@@AquascapingCube that's great, thank you again for these helpful insights.
Excellent info... I have heard of using yeast . And using fruit juice.. You don't need to bubble water ? Again great video

Thank you! Never heard about fruit juice method, and now my curiosity will make me try it :P I'm never bubbling the water and never had any problems (but probably hatch ratio is lower)

Thank you! Really appreciate your words. Means a lot.
Thank you for such informative videos for this beginner. I have a few very small rice fish fry that are not growing well and have tried to raise infusoria using lettuce. After a few days the water became cloudy or a milky colour, and was told that I had to wait untill the water became clear, but it has been 8 days now and the water has still not become clear. can you please advise me in anyway, thank you, kind regards, Tony, (UK)
@AquascapingCube
Жыл бұрын
Hi! Water should be more clear, but not completely transparent. But after 8 days, there is a chance that something went wrong, and water might be spoiled. In general: at the beginning cloudy water is full of bacteria, but when it starts to go more clear (but not totally) it means that infusoria is starting to eat those bacteria - and is multiplying in your jar. When numbers of infusoria go really high - it will also make the water look little milky - this is because you can actually see millions of them.
Do you use active yeast? I bought yeast and put in refrigerator, is it ok to use after putting it in refrigerator

Yes, it should work just fine! I'm using dry yeast, but only because this it convenient for me.
how long does the bbs stay alive in that container with no aeration or heater?

What if my tank is planted,and every now and than plants rot ,will I have food for fry already there?
@AquascapingCube
2 ай бұрын
No. There will be SOME infusoria, but it will not be enough for all of the fry.
How much Bbs do you give? I'm feeding but I am seeing alot of dead fry after feeding my angel fish fry. They are 7 days old currently. Please help!

Angelfish are quite big even in early stages. So I feed them quite a lot. I use full syringe of BBS everyday. If they are dying - it might be because of the water, not food. Be sure to make regular, frequent but small water changes. I have a video with Angel Fry here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rKSqrcGAc6-soaQ.html ;)
Hi, At how many days would you first feed Infusoria and at how many days would you move over to Artemia ? Thanks in advance.
@AquascapingCube
6 ай бұрын
Depends on the fish type. With bigger fish I switch to artemia even after 1-2 days, but with smaller it will sometimes take even 1 week before they can eat something bigger than Artemia .
I would like to start an infusoria culture but im afraid it might smell bad. My husband doesn't want me to have a microworm culture since it makes the 'fishroom' smell. Do infusoria cultures smell?
@AquascapingCube
Жыл бұрын
Yes, it might smell a bit. Depending on the method it can be better (protogen starter) or worse (rotting vegetables). The best food for fry that doesn't smell is Brine shrimp - but only if your fry is big enough to eat it.
Too bad Amazon Australia doesnt sell any of these Artemia products 😢
