When I first saw this movie, a friend posted the newly released episode of Senior year. I thought it was a South African or a black American movie. Until she said it’s Nigerian. I wanted to watch the senior year but then I realized there was a beginning so here I am. This episode actually really depicts what happens in most secondary schools especially those of high standard and class.

I watched this video with my 8year old daughter and my 10year old son. They wondered why the uniforms were combined that way. However, Their summary is: "Jealousy makes one UGLY". I agree with them, and I admire Olive's Mum for her accommodating but firm stance on Olive. I hope I could be that mature in handling issues in family life/ real world.

I love this school. Everyone’s looks are so pure: no jewelry, weave, makeup, well manner in speech: They look like they really came to school to learn; nothing like my school. A student was accused of stealing, no one notified the parents? I would’ve sued that school so fast for making assumptions, creating a hostile environment, ruining my reputation, emotional duress......

This is very interesting to watch. I have a good friend who is Nigerian who always describes what her life in Africa was like growing up as a young girl, and watching this series gives me good insight as to what her experiences must have been like while attending school in Nigeria. It also shows me our cultures are not so completely different after all- there are still the same friendship groups and issues with popularity and cliques everywhere, and many young people in different countries go through similar struggles.

I love the film and being black myself, hailing from the Caribbean there is a familiarity with the whole school setting..the uniforms, the hair styles, the natural beauty of the girls, no makeup....a series off of this would be so great!
