I would say it's a universally good experience to go to therapy because it definitely helps you reflect on certain events in your life. But it's not a must for everybody of course and forcing it on people does more harm than good. And regarding it as a red flag dismisses the actual point of red flags which is to point out toxic and abusive behaviour. Another point is that not everyone has the time and the money to do so (and here in Germany there have been big debates about the long wait times to even be able to secure a therapist).

I agree! I've gone to therapy but if people don't need it then cool. As he said, nature can also be therapy. People don't always need to sit down with someone, but he said he's open for it if necessary and that's what matters.

I immediately stopped watching as soon as they eliminated someone because 'everyone needs therapy' which was then followed by an ad for Better Help. Both criticising someone for not wanting to have therapy and sending incorrect messages to thousands of people for monetary gain is outrageous and shameful!

As a mental health clinician - these girls have a really close minded perspective of mental health support. Therapy is not necessary for everyone, and for some can be extremely harmful when other supports would be more beneficial. Even suggesting that EVERYONE needs some form of mental health support at every stage of their life is concerning.

I’m a strong advocate for therapy and destigmatising it. Still don’t believe that everybody MUST use it but that everyone CAN benefit from it, so it should be easily accessible to all. They’re still very young and are in a group of like minded girls who seem to agree on almost everything~there’s no one to play devils advocate on the subject and challenge them to expand their views. That breeds a little bit of ignorance sometimes. A lot of people have very healthy outlets and don’t currently ‘need’ therapy. They’re a lovely group of girls regardless and are free to solely build bonds, with people who completely align with their current values 🤷🏿‍♀️

Plus there are a lot of factors that go into someone not going to therapy. If it’s not as talked about in your family or circle you might not realize you need it when you do, and you might not be able to afford it. Better help is less expensive than most therapy but it’s still expensive. Not everyone has the time either.

I think they interpret him saying that he's perfect and doesn't need anything to help give him mental and emotional peace, or healing and that comes off like a red flag, cause literally everyone does need therapy, and therapy doesn't mean the traditonal talk therapist, but like what does he do to emotionally regulate, to work through his issues, if the answer is nothing he's fine that's a fuckingg red flag, also if they prefer to date someone who goes to therapy why does that offend you? I think we have to revisit the idea that everyone needs therapy… because therapy comes in different forms - does it always have to be just sitting with a therapist or are there other ways to cleanse the mind as well… I for one am a huge proponent of/for therapy, but I haven’t been in 3 years. I do a lot of research on self-betterment, self-care, healing, and being a better human overall. Some people might not be able to afford it and that also might not be the path for everyone in all moments of their lives. To me being that rigid on personal preference for healing seems to be a sign of immaturity and closed-mindedness because we all find healing in different ways. It could be nature (like he said), community, and/or other positive methods. I think we’re being conditioned to promote therapy but it’s also somewhat classist because it isn’t always accesible to everyone.

tbh I need therapy for years now, but I would never ever go on and say that everyone needs it. everyones resilience is different, everyones upbringing is different and getting people into therapy who don't need it can take spots away from people who really do need it.

Ive had therapy for 6 years and i hated every second of it because it was being forced on me

u've probably thought of this before but i'ma say it anyway because for a while i didn't realize it. but medicaid pays for 100% of therapy fees most of the time. i thought it'd only lower the cost based on some therapy sites i saw, but once i realized it covered it all, i went in. if you have some type of government insurance it might pay for all of it, or also sometimes jobs have therapy resources that can get it to you for free. or you can ask at your university if u go to one, they might give you free counseling for a period of time, especially if ur low income and on scholarships like i was.

This is literally every shallow person on these panels: “Has anyone dated a women of color?” Does it matter? “Everyone should be in therapy” “I’m adventurous, I do yoga, eat plants, and like to talk to animals” “I like music” “My ideal date would be a long walk on the beach or a hike in the woods” “What’s everyone’s sign?” “Im really different and individual” *is like everyone else* “Im into fashion” *literally wearing miss matched clothing that doesn’t go together at all* WHY IS EVERYONE SO BORING AND SHALLOW?

I think mental health is EXTREMELY important and I'm all for people getting therapy if they want to or need to. But not everybody necessarily needs it. We're all different, we all have different experiences and handle them differently. Judging others simply for not getting therapy is TOXIC af.

Also, forcing therapy on to others and judging them simply for not being in therapy is completely the opposite of caring about mental health. If you really cared, you would understand that everyone should be free to decide whether they want it or not, and they should really do what makes them feel better/what they're comfortable with.

Some of the “therapists” on the platform weren’t licensed. There was also controversy around them giving really bad advice or just being straight up verbally abusive sometimes, even the licensed ones.

Plenty of people at my College literally have a therapy fetish, their entire existence revolves around their current state of the therapy sessions. It's crazy and seems to be an unhealthy obsession, but unfortunately a lot of people are introverts and shy so the only people they are comfortable opening up to are professionals. You can tell these girls fit that mould and project their insecurities onto other people on a very personal level, but to get to the point where they negatively judge someone who isn't in therapy would be funny if they weren't being serious.

I had a weird feeling they would not like that guy's answer regarding not having therapy. And yet I'm still surprised they said that was the reason to cut him off. I actually liked Youssef. I don't think it was fair how they judged him. GIrls, you have no idea how someone deals with their personal issues.
