I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely to be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

This was 11 years ago, omg how can time flies so fast?

I met my bestfriend in 2005 - we were just kids. She was living overseas and I was living in Australia. I didn’t see her again until 2014 - and we only had 3 days to catch up with each other. I knew I loved her then and would spend the next two years chasing her, watching her get hurt by other guys who only wanted to use her, watched her cry, get angry - I was just a fly on the wall. I remember asking her so many times to be my girlfriend but she kept saying no until.... 2016 - April, just after my birthday. I asked her again and she said yes! I flew overseas to see her and we spent and cherished every second of the 30 days we had together. Fast forward to now - we’re married, we’ve got plans for the future, planning kids, a house and she’s moving countries so that we can finally live together. Never give up on love if you feel it in your heart. If it’s meant to be, it will be. No matter the distance, if love is true, no matter the time, if love is true, love will always find a way. Update July 2022 - we are living together in Australia now. We have a house together. Have a nice garden. Might even adopt a dog to expand our family. Future plans are underway. And yes, still madly in love. She is meant for me… and I am meant for her 🥰 Edit - people can be amazing, you are all beautiful. JASON WILL YOU PREFORM THIS SONG AT MY WEDDING WHEN THE TIME COMES??? I moved to the United States in the 6th grade. I was 10. We met in elementary (sorta). We were in the same class but we barely spoke because I was EXTREMELY shy and covered my face with my hair all the time. He liked me and made so many efforts to talk to me. But in my eyes, I was a burden to everyone I was around due to some previous bullying. Anyways, after we graduated, I left without really saying goodbye to anyone but my teachers and we lost contact. 3 years later and he found me on Facebook. I was in a relationship (an emotionally abusive one at that). He didn't really say anything until that relationship ended. We spoke via messenger and at that time, I grew a lot of confidence from the friends I've been hanging around with. SOOOO I asked him to skype and we talked for like 2 hours. (This was a little after New Years) He was one of those people who said "My New Years Resolution is to not have a New Years Resolution." Anyways, the very next day, he messaged me saying he wanted to change that and make it to be more outgoing. Thus, admitting he liked me and has liked me since the 6th grade. We decide to talk and go on a few dates to the mall. We dated for about 6 months but I broke it off. I know. I'm horrible! He was absolutely perfect when I think back on it. But he became my bestfriend and talked to me through a lot of hard/tragic events that I ended up having to deal with. (Including that abusive relationship I ended going back to. Again, I know... I'm such an idiot.) A few more years go by, he's had enough. We argued about something stupid, and he says he thinks we should go our separate directions. And soon after that, I realized I missed him so much, and wanted him back. A couple months later, I saw him at this convention. He said hey and joked with me as if nothing had ever happened. I went along with it... Well he ended up messaging me and I apologized immediately. And we started hanging out as friends with other friends. My bestfriend even told me she was going to hit me if I didn't go for him. She COMPLETELY approved. And well, I did... Now I'm happy to say that we've been together for going on 3 years! And we're taking the huge step to move out of the Country together in about 2 weeks. A lot of people doubt our relationship because its such a BIG step. A frequent question I get a lot is "How do you know he;s the one?" Trust me. I've put this man through hell and he's continued to stick to me like cement glue. I've given him countless of reasons to leave me and he's never thought about doing so. I've seen/heard him defend me (even though he doesn't know I know). He's helped me care for my family and has brought me closer to God without knowing he was doing so. He goes far and beyond my standards of a man. This song is going to play at our wedding. And I plan on making a secret music video to surprise him with during the reception. It would be an absolute honor is Jason would preform when the time comes. But even just the song is enough. My advice to anyone in a similar situation, go for it. As my boyfriend says, "All you need is 10 seconds of complete blind bravery..... And great things will happen." This was me and my first love’s go to song. We met when this song released in 2012, and we listened to it everyday and every time we met, compared our future and imagined it to be just like the song itself. We didnt expect to make the fall, and because we were so young, we didnt know how to deal with it, but the only way for me to know that it was something special was that it was the *first* time I have ever felt that way towards anyone. A year later we lost contact, we met different people and we lost touch. But somehow we managed to cross paths again, only this time we already had others. We fought over our mishaps, and we felt that we just were two people who would only cross each others paths and nothing more or less to it. So we lost touch again. I didnt know that It would be our last conversation. When In the next four years after 2018, I found out he had taken his own life. I never expected him to do it. It made me confused.. why i felt a needle pierce through my heart the moment I confirmed it was true that he passed away. I realised then how important it was to value ones memories and touch, ones love and whilst they still live. I hope no one has to go through the guilt and regrets that I feel. Please make sure you connect with people who you miss. Even if you dont expect them to feel the same way. Do it for yourself. Thank you for writing this song. 2012- (fifth grade) he asked me out, I said no because I couldn’t date until I was 16 2013- We go to different middle schools 2015- we go to the same high school, but I end up moving to a different state 2016- I move back, but go to a different school 2017- he asks me out again and I say yes 2019- we’re going to college in the same area :)

If anyone is feeling this same way don’t worry. Here’s my story: I met her 2 months ago at a Talent Show (that she won) at my college and thought she was cute and a great singer. So I decided ask her out. So I did. But she told me she already had a boyfriend. Of course. It sucked at the moment. But what I didn’t expect was to see her again on that same day. She was waiting for her bus alone and I kinda just thought. “Well I mean nothing wrong with being her friend.” And so I decided to approach her once more. And we literally talked until the sun went down. She didn’t even end up going on her bus. And after that conversation we just hit it off and just had a vibe that neither of us ever had before. (Even she admitted it was an insane feeling how comfortable we were with each other right off the bat). We ended up getting boba that same night and I dropped her off Home. (Nothing sexual or anything else happened) But it was one of the first meetings I’ll never forget. And now that we’ve grown so much closer in just a span of 2 months. I just always want to be around her and even if I’m not her boyfriend, just want to take care of her. I know in other perspectives it sounds like a bad Home wrecking story. But the way she words things and is with me is a different vibe from what I see when she’s with her actual boyfriend. And I’ve hung out them both together, and it hurts, a lot. But I don’t wanna let go of her at all. I feel if I do, that I just lost someone really important in my life regardless if she was my girlfriend or not. So now, I’m honestly in the process of waiting it out. And I hope everything turns out for the best. If you read through that whole sob story. I thank you and appreciate it, just know that you are not the only one dealing with some kind of crazy love story. Or you can see this as another dude in his 20’s in real need of venting. Hey that's awesome she knows how you felt/feel and she still excepts you as a friend and she gets along with you great and I think just respecting that she has a relationship shows how much you truly care and you wanting to wait and see were things lead is totally fine. Some times I feel like people only want to date you or hate you so by just being a good friend is very kind! To all those people out there who are dating. Don't ever forget about the ones who stuck with you during the worst times of your life, those who shared tears of joy and pain with you and who always got your back and always will. I'm in love with my best friend. We both hug each other and we got each others backs but I don't wanna ruin the relationship. I came back here to say that I'm so grateful to have my boybestfriend even for a short period of time, I'm happy that he became part of my life and I became part of his life. We met in 2009 and he left in year 2010, I Waited for almost 12 years and trying to find him. With the help of friends and my family I already know where did they go with his family, So sadly I find out that my boybestfriend passed away in year 2015. It hurts a lot for me, I didn't comment here immediately after I heard that he passed away because the only thing I did is cry inside my room. I save a lot of courage to tell this. No one will probably read this, but I just want to know if something similar to my story had ever happened to anyone else- I had this guy friend ever since preschool, and we were pretty good friends. In first grade, we would sometimes jump off of benches in the gym in aftercare once everyone else had left and it was just us. We would pretend that we were flying and flapped our arms up and down like wings while singing "I Believe I Can Fly" (we sang it at our pre-k graduation). I was always last in aftercare, and he was because him mom was (and still is) a staff member/teacher.. We also used to hang out during summer camp, but rarely during school hours. We were friends in elementary school, and then after 6th grade in middle school, he left for 7th grade. (We started hanging out more in 6th grade, even though we both weren't in aftercare anymore.) After he left, I'd been thinking about him... a lot. What I mean by that is about every single day. I didn't know it at the time, but I really missed him. I then started to remember how nice his smile was and his sense of humor and... yeah, I developed a crush on a guy I hadn't seen in over a year. Then, a couple months ago (I'm in 8th grade now), there was a Halloween event at our school. I saw him there with his mom (who was one of my elective teachers), but we didn't say hi to eachother. Instead, I was so surprised that I greeted everyone else but him (his mom, sister, godmother...). Later at the Halloween event, from a far distance, I turned to look at him and he looked at me at the same moment. We stared at eachother for a few seconds, and then he turned away to continue talking to somebody else. Both of our faces were blank, and I have no idea up to this day what he was thinking. For the rest of the night, we didn't talk to eachother. I hadn't seen him since then. Bless your soul if you read my whole comment. Lord, help me ;-;
