Elden Ring is my first Soulslike game, started as Confessor and about 10 hours in and countless of death, did managed to slay a dragon here and kill a few bosses there, but I still have no idea what am I doing. This guide sure will help a ton.

This is designed for you to take your time and be replay-able. Dont be in a rush to finish it. Bosses with cutscenes are a good indicator you are in the direction of progress.

@@marcop5950 you beat a NPC to get the sacred blade ash of war and then apply it to your scythe. Once you have both scythes and upgrade them they get insanely powerful. You should KZread how to beat the boss that lets you buy infinite stones from the round table lady to upgrade your weapons alot more

Superb video as always!! Huge fan of your builds whether it's borderlands or well, Elden ring! Love this usage of scythe. I've been using golden halberd instead but might make the switch since the requirements are so much lower. Keep up the great content!

The spells, int or fth just look so good in Elden Ring. I would hardly touch lightning fth in the previous games but I've just respec for fth and I'm in utter love with how the fire and lightning looks

This is by far the best game to explore spellcasting. There are so many unique builds with the different schools of magic and incantations. And plenty of weapons to support the hybrid playstyle to encourage melee too. Pure faith, faith/int, faith/arcane are all viable including any combination of the others, all with different unique spells and playstyles. I've been recently convincing all my friends to add some spells to their build after they saw my dragon build cheesing most of the game haha

im starting my playthrough today as confessor, this timing could not be better thank you!

Moxsy! I came to you for all my Borderlands 3 needs and I'm pumped to know you're producing Elden Ring content!

Everything but the Seal choice is 10/10 my man. I know you're only 65, and alot of players are looking at this earlier than that...The best seal for lightning bois, is the Gravel Stone Seal How to get: 1) Find the decoy chest in Limgrave that teleports you far north to a place called Divine Bridge. After teleporting, forward should be the grace AND a Giant + talisman(not needed, but its loot) 2) Pop the grace there, then pop the Co-op item that allows you to see summon signs 3) Turn around from the grace and approach the big hole in the ground. Use Taunter's Tongue 4) Person will invade and spawn below you, they activate elevator. profit 5) big chariots of death of here, run past them, go through doors, pull lever, go through the next door 6) Big open room with loot on guy, theres also a site of grace in this building(i just ran to it magically while back tracking after getting the Seal) 7) Walk outside of the big open room into the open area, turn left. Golden Knight man with Shield. Aggro him and run backwards, he has a sniper buddy 8) kill him, he has the Seal. It boosts "Dragon cult incantations", and the lightning spear came from a dragon cult book. bing bang boom, lightning seal!

@Matt Smith i dont believe so? people invade at all levels for runes. my character is level 100 right now. i just hungout by the lever, used the furlcalling finger remedy, and used Taunter’s Tongue. it took 3 invades before the guy spawned down there

@@diayae3505 You can't. Just swap one of the scythe hands to your seal when you wanna cast. Most people probably keep it in their left hand, but it needs to be in your right to cast from horseback. Has it's pros and cons.

Love this build. I ended up swapping out the basic scythe for a grave scythe. It drops off the grim reaper looking mobs in graveyards. Does more damage than the basic scythe when you scale it with the count holy ash of war but it requires one extra point into strength [17]

Does grave scythe even make more damage at +25 than normal one? Because i thought the scaling on the normal one ist better for faith?

keep in mind when you upgrade weapons the scaling goes up. so a weapon with D faith scaling when upgraded to +10 ends up having B scaling.

No. Some weapons only increase overall base AR. A scaling with D, depending on the weapon, might stay as a D

@@lonelystoner8594 scaling is the # on the right of the base weapon damage. For example if a weapon has a "C" to strength and a "B" to dexterity it means it will get bonus damage towards whatever lvl you have that specific attribute at. The better the letter grade for an attribute the more bonus damage you'll get from that attributes "scaling". If you tend to use weapons that scale better with faith you might want to increase your faith skill so you'll get a bigger bonus

@@lonelystoner8594 letter grades towards scaling can go from no scaling all the way up to an S in scaling (-,E,D,C,B,A,S) FYI tho, just because you enhance a weapon doesn't always mean it'll get a better letter grade towards scaling. Usually, and I say usually because there are a few exceptions, if you find a base weapon and it already has a scaling towards a specific attribute at C or B, good chances are once that weapon is fully upgraded it'll have an A or S scaling

You don’t have to worry because once you defeat the queen boss you can respec your stats infinitely you just need a certain tear I forget which it is

I would recommend you Grab burst of frenzy. It's essentially a sniper rifle. It's range feels at least 1.5x of Lightning spear. So while it is more expensive it's invaluable for hitting those long range shots before they notice you.

Sacred Blade is behind the third church of Marika near the spirit spring leap point at the cliff, also the guy who drops the prayer book to get lightning spear also gives electrify armament which is a useful spell to have to add lightning damage to your scythes, or any other weapon as that spell works for most builds that focus on melee.

The ashes of war that he is using is called sacred blade. That's the only part of the video that was a bit confusing. Hope this helps

Great video but got a little confused in where the scythe is. So for anyone who hasn’t got it yet, you don’t have to kill the boss! Just find your way to the top level of cliff bottom catacombs and you’ll find it there

In the actual catacombs or just outside of them?

If you finish the entire Fia questline, you can unlock the Inseparable Sword which has B faith scaling when upgraded and its skill buffs it, giving holy damage on top of the B faith scaling. Also can shoot a holy projectile with its skill which is very low FP cost.

How do I start this quest line?

First off, you did a GREAT job with this video! This very well might have been the most influential video for my Elden Ring experience, just through your clear and direct explanation of the different mechanics in the game, and I wanted a Faith/Dex build, which sent me on my path thank you. Although, enough worshipping you :) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND trying out dual-wielding or 'Power Stancing' Twinblades (Ex: The "Twinblade" & "Godskin Peeler") are what I use with Sacred Blade Ash of War (or any Sacred Ash of War) for Faith Scaling. They can keep up with the Reaper's damage (Mine are 440 & 421) {My damage is only higher because they are +16 & +15, respectively} but the Twinblades' DPS just melts everything because they attack so fast. Every time they swing they hit the target twice with each weapon (hence Twin-Blade). I highly recommend giving those a shot over the Reaper pair. HOWEVER, the Reapers have bleed damage and the blades don't, although with the new patch you have to scale Arcane a lot more to make the bleed effective so this would especially be unstoppable with a Fai/Arc. Ultimately, if you plan for pure faith you should all try out the Power Stance with Twinblades, the jump attack alone is just does a nasty amount of damage and stagger. (hits the enemy like 4-6 times or something ridiculous) Anyways, that's my two cents, excellent video man have a good one!! Cheers :)

Here is the build I was looking for. I'm really grateful to you.

There's a straight sword in the capital that does full Sacred damage- look for the Fortified Manor and head upstairs. Super sick. If you're using the Godslayer seal too, I'd stick to the Black Fireball spell. Godslayer Seal boosts it's damage. If you like Lightning spear better for other reasons, I'd recommend using the seal that boosts Dragon cult spells (also in capital I believe)

@Moxsy Halo Scythe is also a really good replacement for the Basic scythe. No need for art of war and gives a fast charged 3x follow up ranged holy seeker. You can get these from the mobs that are just outside from Commander O'Neill Right next to the Inner Aeonia Site of Grace. They also drop Cleanrot armorsets, a spear and a thrusting sword.

Did the scythe have great damage? I'm currently with brass shield and +11 noble sacred sword and it's good but want a weapon with good faith scaling 1 handed and better damage

0:29 Just wanna say, if you thought that dragonfire did a lot of damage maybe try out the dragon build with the dragon seal, 80 arcane, the talisman that boosts roars and breath attacks, and the physick tear that boosts fire damage, plus a few other goodies but that's the core. That spell can one shot most of the game lol.

I definitely went 80 arcane first playthru because I've done every possible build countless times on past dark souls. And this was something new and different. And quite fun might I add.

What’s your stats looking like ?level 85 rn but I’m tryna run a strength and faith build trying to see what other people run to get some ideas

I have a similar build to this that I came up with before even looking at this vid! Just found cool weapons and wanted to max them XD So happy other people consider faith and akimbo scythes valid. Gives me high hopes for my build too. If you can find it the double slash ash of war with a scythe creates a brutal killing machine that can break poise and bleed very easily, and if you apply lightning or holy to it it works into any faith build very well

The winged scythe L2 is so OP. I like the idea of dual wielding with a keen scythe buffed with holy sometimes

How man… I don’t understand how it does so much damage and works for everyone else but mine only does like 200 damage per hit while he does like 500 can you explain

@@bazookabreaker1453 you are upgrading it with the blacksmith, right? You can get it to +5 or +6 pretty early. It should hit for big damage once you get to even 40 faith. You eventually want to take your faith to 60 or even 80. The L2 gives you two free hits because it staggers almost every enemy. Bottom line there isn't a better dex/fth weapon in early to mid game

@@bazookabreaker1453 that sounds... off. Do you meet the base weapon requirements? If you don't have 16 str and 16 dex you will get way lower damage because technically you're not equipped to use the weapon

You can do str instead of dex and use the tree sentinal axe. Im doing 500 damage at level 50 and the special attack buffs my damage and resistance by 10% ( sacred oath for ds3 players)

I'm doing the same thing! But I do find the extreeeemely slow movement of the axe is a bit problematic for some enemies. What do you use on your offhand?

I dont use of hand i 2 hand ( other than a casting item) it as my str is to low (2 handing gets you 50% more strenth). Your sprinting r1 is a quick stab. I often open up with that and the stagger will carry the rest of the fight. You can also invest in poise so you can trade hits, helps with slower weapons.

noob question: why does he uses the scythe on the main hand instead of the winged one? the faith buff only works when the scythe is golden wit hthe activated ashe effect?

I started with prisoner as i thought spellblade could be a cool playstile, but then i discovered that faith has the best spells... Also DRAGON SPELLS... OH MY!

Thanks you very much for this guide! Having a blast with it currently at lvl 62. And just one tapped Caelid Catacombs with +3 Scythe, +1 Seal and a Black flame. Can only imagine how stupid this thing will get once I'll get my gear to +10.

Love this build at lvl 80 right now and still owns I’m changing my weapons tho there’s a great sword that scales a lot better with faith but will still use my scythes when not fighting bosses or enemies with aligned poise

I love your Elden RIng videos , it shows exactly how to get the items needed for the builds

The location given for the Sacred Blade Ash of War is incorrect. It's further East and just north of the Third Church of Marika; next to a wind torrent.

I would advise not getting the dragon incantations you have and saving the hearts for the better 2 heart versions from the Cathedral of Dragon communion (not the Church of Dragon communion). Flame breath from the air is so much easier to use without getting hit xD

I really want to use this build but i am new to the game infact i just started and i was looking into some builds and i liked this one can i do this build with the talismans in the beginning of the game i played ds3 before and i used a quailty build so i wanted to change it up to faith in elden ring . Great video it will help alot

Yea this build is hard for newbs to get good luck getting the first scythe 💀

I play a similar build but I use the Uchigatana instead. With a Sacred Uchigatana+4 I get C scaling with Faith. Uchigatana for boss kills or tougher 1vs1s and then the Winged Scythe for regular mobs.

​@@trevor8726 You need to find the "Sacred Blade" ash of war and equip it on your Uchigatana. If you didn't start with the Samurai you can't find a Uchi pretty easily in the Deathtouched Catacombs. Swap out "Unsheath" for "Sacred Blade" and it will become a Sacred Uchigatana and will now scale with Faith, you can still bleed enemies and you can buff it with Sacred Blade AoW for extra damage :)

@@nitsuj6555 You need to use a Sealed Finger(weapon to cast incantations). I usually have it in my left hand and my main weapon in my right hand

Congrats, you have officially chosen the path for my second character! First play through right now is a pure int mage. Faith looks too cool to not give it a try as well. I usually did pure str in other dark souls but that build will have to wait in elden. They just made spells/incantations too good to ignore this time around.

This is perfect could not ask for more :)

The Ashes of War: Sacred Blade, is located just across the water near the Church of Elleh, next to the horse lift. Kill the beetle to get it.

Question: Why do you not have the Winged scythe on right hand - is it not way more powerful than the sacred scythe if only using a single weapon? Thanks for the vid! Ive been working toward recreating this build and it's been a lot of fun.

I believe it is because he can use weapon enhancing spells on the normal scythe therefore he’d have two good weapons when dual wielding

the Ash of War: Sacred Blade makes the sacred scythe turn gold/boost faith damage on the right hand armament. Although, the Winged Scythe has an awesome faith attack too with the left trigger. You can always double-hand it though.

@@MarioReischer you get damage with the wing without the l2.. the other scythe needs to be activated for the damage raiser. also there is a better scythe you get by killing skeletons in another area that when leveled and added the sacred build

If you have some spare points dexterity decreases cast time and it’s nice to put into so you can use more weapons

This is just what I wanted, thanks bro

TIPS: Copied this build at level 41 and here is my experience. The dual scythes once upgraded by buying smithing stones (KZread how to) is OP Flame of the fell god is cool but super underwhelming Lighting spear is by far best spell - low cost, high damage, and fast output with range Super awesome build helping ransoms best rennala with pure ease. Currently trying to beat frozen lightning spear boss… 10/10 recommend build

@@enzodenali are you on a horse? If you have both the right scythes they attack in combos of 2 and have a double slice jump attack

There’s another faith scaling scythe. Halo scythe drops from the cleanrot knights in Caelid.

@@DeeGates9 you’d get more damage out of the scaling due to the faith you’d have to had leveled up to equip the winged scythe.

Doin a paladin build lvl 73. Tanky with faith scaling weapons. Close and long range damage

I just found the Holy Scythe near the fourth church of Marika, east of it is a little tomb with 2 guards and a chest, I dunno if it’s intended but it was super easy to get 🤷🏻‍♂️
