I look at some youtubers and they seem to be obsessed with IIT's and CS degrees only .No prizes for guessing the names of such youtubers .They seem to forget that there are very prestigious institutes like IISc , Bengaluru that offers Bachelor of Science (Research) Programmes in Physics , etc . and people have the option of choosing this place too post JEE mains/Advanced .

It's good to see that he chooses Physics over CSE. People, nowadays are reluctant to delve into hard sciences like Physics or Mathematics but eager to join cozy jobs like investment banking. Freeman Dyson once remarked the same about the youngsters.

Hi Avanti!!!! Where in Delhi are you from as i am also from Delhi but have been residing here in Muscat for the last 20 yrs. Can you please share Chirag's e-mail id if possible as my son who is in grade 8 , his dream is MIT since he was small for computer science. He has been studying since his childhood focusing MIT n is good in Music like you....completed gr 8 Trinity exams for guitar in grade 7...equally good in sports but we are finding direction for making him reach there as it is quite hard here to find people who can guide leave aside having coaching classes....although l know the admission process for MIT is quite different n difficult.

I'll share what I know, btw I am a student of class 11 preparing for JEE. Firstly talking about Chirag, he had a GOLD MEDAL in one of the most prestigious olympiads, the astronomy olympiad. Having a medal in such olympiads is a huge plus, in fact kind of a necessity for us indian students to get into MIT. More such olympiads are IJSO(international juniour science olympiad) given by students mostly in 9th standard, IPHO, ICHO(international physics and chem olympiads respectively) given by students in 11 and 12 standard, IMO,etc. Obviously having a medal in such exams is very very tough but 8th and 9th class is the best time to start preparing for such exams. Now having medals in these exams doesn't guarantee that you'd get a seat in mit, what these medals actually tell is that the person is really Hardworking and is genuinely INTERESTED in the subject. Apart from that qualifying other exams like ntse and kvpy is also a plus. Obviously being good at extra curriculars like sports and art is also a plus as these things are really important for the overall well being. Also being exceptional in what you are interested in, in ur case computer science is also a plus, that does not mean you have to be the best coder in the world before you even start studying cs in a collage, what I mean is ur application should have something that shows that ur are actually interested in what ur going to pursue. All of the above mentioned points, if taken care of well, would definitely make one quite eligible to go to Mit, obviously it's still not certain that you'll end being there for sure. But that doesn't mean that we wouldn't try either. If you have to take away one key point from all this, is the olympiads part, again having a medal in such exams is a huge plus. One should start preparing right away in 8th and 9th standard for these exams. Getting a medal is not the tough part, being genuinely interested in the subject is imp, as in chiraag's case we can see, it wasn't very togh for him to decide whether he would study physics at mit Or cs, as he knew absolutely what he was interested in. Thanks.

Also you can do some further research and get to know what other indian students did to get into the Institute. Having different perspectives and approach is always good.

We i.e. myself, my husband n my son were so very impressed by your clarity of thought which truly reflected in yr explanation of this topic from varied angles yet leaving it to the other circumstances concomitantly. It would be great if you can share with us yr e-mail id so that my son can connect with you. Thanks again!!!

I'll share what I know. Some alumni of my school are in American universities right now. So, these universities are super expensive. Like, a bachelors would cost you 2-4 crores unless you get a scholarship for which you need to be an olympiad gold medallist or some such. There are lots of counselling services in metro cities for people who can afford to study abroad. One such is Athena Education which would help you with everything from SAT, AP exams, IGCSEs, SAT subject tests, to Extra curriculars, internships, etc.

@@flyingdragon6275 Right bro. I mean everyone speaks about brain drain but no-one really wants to figure out how hard it is to use ur intelligence in contribution of the country without any obstacles, corruption, politics in India. Why will anyone not want to serve the country ? If no-one values your contribution and credits you for mere politics above benefit of the country, the only option is to be somewhere you will be credited for ur efforts and brain.
