Best Emergency Lantern - Why I Chose The Coleman Dual Fuel Lantern

1st and foremost I chose this COLEMAN lantern due to the fact that on ONE tank of regular unleaded or camping fuel this lantern will provide light for 5 hours on full and 13.5 hours on low and then!!! Just refill and go another 13.5 hours. In an emergency, not having to worry about where to charge is priceless. This Coleman lantern is tough, easy to operate and best of all dependable. I mean I have a Coleman Dual Fuel Stove that was built in 1964 and it still runs perfectly.
This will light a radius of 18 METERS.
Runs on: Regular Unleaded or Coleman Camp Fuel
Cons: Not really a con, but you need a well ventilated place to burn this lantern. Never operate in an enclosed space with no ventilation.

I HIGHLY recommend ditching the new lanterns. Get an old 220 or 228 model. I have a 220 from 1929 that works like brand new. None of my new style lanterns from the 80s and up suck! The glass which is called the globe, does indeed break. Old lanterns have a frame and the vent doesn’t compress onto it making it easier to break. Also, the pump in newer style lanterns has a neoprene cup for the seal. They stop working at like 10°F. Older 220 lanterns have leather cups. I’ve used mine in -40°F temps. Mantles are a chemical element called yitrium when you burn off the cotton or whatever they come in to survive handling. Don’t burn in the mantles indoors. The smoke is very bad for you. Never buy coleman new coleman brand. Get Peerless brand. Much stronger and brighter. These fuel fuel and well, every other two mantle lantern ever takes peerless 2C-HG style. Also, just in case you didn’t know, just because they don’t say dual fuel, doesn’t mean that it won’t run on pump gas. Every single white gas lantern will run on gasoline. Also, they didn’t make ideal fuel branded products until the 90s, so I don’t know where you got the whole dual fuel stove thing. Another thing, gasoline isn’t that bad for you or the lantern. Guy named Frank Bebb on the Oldtowncoleman KZread channel did an experiment. He ran 20 tanks of pump gas through one 200a model and 20 tanks of white gas through another. They are both just fine. You shouldn’t be worried to use unleaded gasoline in your lantern. Coleman made lamps for decades. They were designed to be burned indoors. They aren’t that bad. Another experiment was conducted on the coleman collectors forum. A guy sealed off a 70 square foot room with 4 running lanterns inside for 1 hour and 30 minutes. The carbon dioxide PPM was only 50, which is a level for concern, but certainly not horrible. Most detectors go off at 70PPM. I’ve burned these many times in my home. You just have to crack a window to let oxygen in. As for tents, they were made for tents. Have a vent open and your fine. When the lantern shuts down and dims slowly is supposed to kinda be a feature for tent campers because you can hop into a sleeping bag before the light goes out.

On 5.7.21, I spent $8 at 2 separate garage sales and scored the Dual 2 lantern for $5 and the 413F 2 burner stove for $3 w fuel funnel and zero rust. Neither were used nearly enough and are now stowed below deck of my restored 1972 Glastron tri-hull bow rider for beach camping on the Mississippi River ❤️😎 thank you for your review 💕

After many years collecting few coleman lanterns and stoves , I know I can rely on them at any time and not on having the right batteries in a emergency and they will corrode if installed for too long or expire or not last as long either, for the lamps I know each tank can last between 7 to 10 hrs so 1 gal of white gas or gasoline is aprox 38 to 40hrs of burn, just keep plenty of mantles and matches .... any coleman lamp that runs on white gas and also run on gasoline in a emergency or for years as many people do just to save money and had have no problem ,maybe then just buy and store a new "generator" just in case .... try and burn your lamp with a full tank and see how many hours you get as a test for yourself.that would be a nice video to watch. cheers.

you should be able to fill up your lantern about 5 times on a gallon can and you should get at least 8 hours minimum from each fill.

fyi; wrong way to light up a lantern... insert a lit match or flame from a lighter first THEN open the valve to let loose the gas otherwise you will have a small explosion like the one you got there and the longer you took to light up the more fuel is waiting for to explode.
