My dogs eat chicken breast , rice , steam cooked carrots and sweet potato.

Check the salt line (1%) to see how little plant and fruit is in it . Anything listed after salt is so small that it is of no consequence. One label shows blueberries ,cranberries carrots . At less than 1% that means a 20 lb bag has 4 berries and a small slice of carrot ,,,,wtf ! Scam !

I've had great success with Taste of the Wild over the years... It is very noticeable in there stools.. With my current young German Shepard who has a very sensitive stomach she went from very loose stools and diarrhea along with pooping alot and large amounts. Once switched the stool is much smaller and very firm. Easy to tell how better it is being digested compared with cheaper brands

I buy Lilly's kibble when short for time but most nights boil chicken, turkey or thin sliced steak, brown rice or sweet potatoes and mixed carrots, green beans and omega 3-oils. They really enjoy there food. I have two pugs and their coats are healthy. I tried everything on the market and everything seemed to cause havoc with their tummies. I finally. bought Lilly's dog food recipe book and they've been amazing. The days I don't have time I boil the meat and serve with Lilly's kibble. Its actually far cheaper to make your own food then buy premium kibble, you just need time. But you could batch cook like we do and freeze. The baked biscuits save for ages in a airtight box. I've never seen my dogs so healthy their eyes are bright and happy and they love their food. No more horrible runs. Bless them. My dogs are my world they look after me and I take great care of them in return for their love and loyalty.

I need advice, I use to feed my pug Orijen, recently I have tried Grand Cru beef formula, it's relatively new highly recommended and very expensive 48.99 a box not bag. I can't find any reviews on this product as a top food, can you please do a review? I am thinking about changing back to Orijen since it's the number one rated and cannot find a review to confirm if this new food is all hype and advertising or the real deal for health.

Please rate Rawz brand, both kibble and canned.

Orijen is amazing DRY dog food... I fed my dogs it 10 years ago when it cost €60 in Ireland. I now costs €100 but at that price why not just feed raw. So much more healthier and cheaper unless your feeding absolute dirt to your poor dog

@@ezikb5337 Be aware the Orijen is no longer made in Canada but moved to the US after being bought and the quality of the products has gone down. I was going to put my girl on the senior type after being diagnosed with a mast cell tumor but looking at online cancer sites this product is no longer advised after moving to the US. This company has lost many customers especially in the United States.

My vet just warned me not to feed my small breed dog grain free dog food as it causes cardiac issues. He advised me to feed him Nutro or pro plan. I chose Nutro small breed.

ya vets are not great at keeping up with the literature. The cardiac issue was way overblown and poorly understood. But "grain free" food is generally not better than food with grain, since they switch out grain for potatoes, lentils, peas, etc. You should be going for a LOW CARB food.

Don't use grain free and you should be ok. Look at the first 5 ingredients. The first five should be really good ingredients. Grain isn't bad of itself, they even need a bit , just stay away from any foods that touts corn or corn products. Meat by products are not bad but it's better if it states what type of meat the byproduct is from such as turkey meat byproducts. You want whatever meat it is advertising to be the first ingredient, then it will usually be another meat in byproduct form, then it usually should list a startch or a carb like pumpkin or rice. Be careful that there is a good balance for your size/type of dog ( you can Google this) too much protein can be just as bad as too many carbs. Sorry if it's a lot of info and kinda written all over the place but it's a start for you 😉. Just stay away from grain free and if you do a raw diet still cook it enough to kill things like e coli, which isn't a lot. It's just a few minutes.

You need to read ingredient panels. It isn’t “grain free” foods causing the issue. The main issue is low quality grain free food companies using an excess of potato and peas, most notably, the use of potato and pea derivatives such as pea protein, pea fiber, pea starch. The main concern being the use of excesses vegetable proteins. What we find in low quality grain free foods is companies substituting meat proteins for these vegetable proteins. This is bad because, 1: vegetable proteins are hard to digest and 2: the main issue is that vegetable proteins do not contain the essential amino acid Taurine. Taurine is essential for heart health in dogs. Pro tip, if you avoid dog foods with vegetable parts, like those listed in my comments, you are going to be just fine. Also if you can find a food that adds taurine to their formula, even better. FYI, the FDA stated not to change your pets diet based on the findings of said study because the evidence from a single study was non conclusive.

BrUiSeD nOt BrOkEn Orijen reads really nicely. A lot of fish product. It is as good quality as people say it is. You mentioned your dog has some yeast issues. The best advice I give for dogs with yeast issues is to avoid any rooted vegetables. So carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes exc. The reason being is those vegetables are higher on the glycemic index that vined veggies or whole ancient grains. The reason the glycemic index is important for dogs that have yeast issues is because yeast thrive off the excess sugar in the blood and foods higher on the index leave higher levels of sugar in the blood this exacerbating yeast issue. Otherwise, it takes about a month to notice changes once switching to a new food. With the itching still being an issue, there is also a very good chance your dog has environmental allergies which, for the most part can’t really be solved completely. What you are doing is awesome with the oil on the skin helps reduce inflammation. I would also recommend give your dog some extra vitamin c to help fight free radicals.

Being a grain free dog food fan for my animals, ( I live in a farming community and in 50 years I have never seen a dog pigging out in a corn field) I have fed Taste of the Wild for ten years and my dogs have NEVER been healthier. Homemade is the way to go ! 😊 Grab some chicken,/ beef, sweet taters or taters, some peas, green beans, kidney beans, fresh spinach, broccoli, carrots, etc just make sure you don't give them bad veggies... Maybe some apple snacks or liver snacks but you have to limit the liver.look online.. it's so easy to do All in 1 pot for 1 chicken meal that will last a month then in another pot.. Beef.. etc... Even easier if you have a pressure cooker that will be done in half hour. Good luck ! It will keep your pups happy and you even happier 😊❣️😘🌷

Stella and Chewy is sooooooo expensive. I have 3 dogs. I do buy it, but look for coupons and sales.

The cheapest way to feed your dog is to give them leftovers and scraps. Ask your butcher for the scraps, bits of meat and bone's, very very cheap. Most butchers will give you them as it costs them to get rid of them. Soft raw bone's are excellent for keeping their teath clean. Sardines are again very cheap, give them to your dog twice a week. Egg again great cheap good quality protein. Mix in left over table scraps to you dogs bowl. Also put in any waste from food prep for example veg peelings. Natural herbs like nettle, dandelion, are full of vitamins, and these are free, just pick them when walking your dog. There is much more I could mention but check out Dr Ian Billinghurst, he has the best books on dog nutrition. Read them you will not only have a healthier dog but you will save a fortune. Modern dog food is very expensive and in most cases no where near as good as fresh whole foods. Also Steve Brown on this channel is a must watch. Do your homework.

Bronwen Young be careful when picking weeds, you don't know if they have previously been sprayed ! Also, there is really no need to feed your dog vegetables l,they're carnivores and can't really process veggies so it's a waste of time and money. Feed your dog meat, it's all he needs 👍🏼

I always cooked meat for my pets, dogs and cats , it's a lot cheaper and you know what they are eating. Add a good dry kibble and veggies and it's a great meal. My cat lived to 22 yrs and my German shepherds (2) lived to 17 and 18, they were all healthy until the last 6 months of life. All the stuff on the market is junk & expensive too. Just my thoughts.

In addition to my last post, my pet from 30 years ago came down with heart worm and my vet said he could do nothing, but slightly boiled calf liver was all he would eat (out of my hand) and after a week or so the same vet was amazed at the progress and a month later was free of the disease.

I haven't heard of any of these dog foods except one

I’ve never heard of Canidae... but the bag literally says for all breeds, ages and sizes... that is a BAD food... dogs of different ages and sizes need different amounts of everything. You give that to a puppy, adult and senior they’re either going to be really skinny or really fat.

Julia Wolf because Royal Canin dental food is amazing. Cleans your animals teeth, prevents them from rotting, and if your animal has good teeth, it’s more likely to not have other internal issues. Not to mention Royal Canin’s factory recycles everything. Nothing goes to waste and they do their best to make everything they do environmentally friendly. I took a VOA course, had a presentation from the Royal Canin rep, and am working as a VOA in a Veterinary Office. Royal Canin is awesome. Pet foods you find on the shelf are terrible for your animals.

@@aliyafenske8850 its main ingredients in the dog food are either rice or corn. Its a dog they need meat. High carbs in dog food can lead to diabetes plus its a waste of money. Purina uses the same ingredients (they even start with meat) and are a quarter of the price. Plus by product which Royal canin claims to be only liver and other organs but is actually bones, offal (which is basically beaks, feet, brain, blood, spleen, testicles) , undeveloped eggs, and carcasses. Plus they spend money to send reps (which they claim to not do) to schools to teach about dog food. Theyve twice had recalls about melamine contamination. The breed specific food is basically a scam and marketing ploy to bring in coustemers who dont really know better. So my real question is why use a company that uses ingredients that much of the market is trying to get away from?

Blue Buffalo is really good,cheapest is amazin being 2.08 a can and walmart#2 @2.28 a can.

@@amandahirschfeld7382 yes you can feed them hamburger n rice. But you need to make sure that they get their veggies also so ya need to add in some boiled carrots or something. It will help add flavor also.Just make sure that you get rid of the grease from the burger.( Rinse the fat out ). Trust me,they won't even nitice the difference.🤣My dog gets bound up from too much rice so you might want to be careful and see how they do with that within 2-3 days.Good luck hon✌️😉🌹❣️

There shouldn't be any dog better than the other because the animal needs to be fed right no matter what pet it is.

WOW THIS IS BULL. Any hard-extruded KIBBLE food doesn't belong on a "Top 5" best list. KIBBLE is about owner convenience, not optimum dog health.

Smelly Jock convenience is what the majority of pet owners are looking for. Of course raw diets are the best option but, about 70% of pet owners can’t afford feeding a raw diet. I would rather people feed most of the foods on this list than anything at the grocery store.

Orijen tundra is the best kibble, I soak it for 15 minutes in warm water, before draining it, then add salmon oil and probiotic tablets.

Beware very high protein for dogs that are not doing heavy work! Future issues with kidneys...just like with humans....

Some vets are now saying grain-free is causing cardio problems... I haven't done enough research yet to come to a conclusion on this, but definitely will.

I feed my dogs grain free blue buffalo food what is better I don’t know much to be honest

My vet told me that grain free dog food causes heart disease especially in little dogs . My dog just died of chf and grain free is what I fed her. Blue buffalo went and dry.

I am sorry for your loss. I just read about this and looking for alternatives. Can't believe that came out in July of 2019. Sounds like grain-free is not the way to go. We were using Taste of the Wild.

If you want to know what really goes into your dog food, make it yourself!

No kibble is good for your pet. If you eat cereal everyday don't you think you will end up with serious health issues!

Have you read the nutrients,, crap total crap. Most dogs become very unhealthy after 5 years and die

Alpha Spirit is the best.

Case in point, Blue Buffalo was sued for putting chicken feathers in place of meat....🤮

Blue buffalo is also being investigated by the FDA for possible links to heart disease. Our dog passed away in November from heart failure believed to be caused by his food.

It is a good exclusive guide for learning some healthy nutritious recipes for your dogs food without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.

Im poor, my dog eats the cheapest of dog foods brands, his favorite cheap food made for humans though it taste like dog food none the less is a pack of bologna or hot dogs from The Dollar Tree.
