    "Best 2 decisions I've made" I recently got a LiteTackle and the wife has the UltraLite. After so much research, and coming from a 10' Lifetime kayak, I knew immediately how good the Crescent line of kayaks are.. I was a bit skeptical of the word "playful" when describing primary stability. The kayaks are very stable. The bowrise is perfect. Ease of paddling - prefect. 👍

    Nice accurate review. I have the Jackson Coosa and the LT. And I agree with your assessment. I also have the same misgivings in "Skinny Water / Drought Conditions" with the LT. I recently purchased the CK1 to help in those lower water conditions. And I can attest to the fact there is a marked difference in shallow water conditions between the LT vs CK1. Though when the water conditions is deep enough, there is no better preforming fishing kayak than the LT. I've come to the conclusion, we all should have a quiver of various kayaks to choose from for the conditions at hand.

    would you suggest going with the shoalie over the litetackle 2 I will mostly be fishing in north Arkansas. Crooked creek the white river and buffalo but i do live on Norfork lake so i might use it when i don't want to pull the boat out.

  • @Itchin2Fish

    @Itchin2Fish

    Жыл бұрын

    The Shoalie is a beast for moving water and the way Crooked Creek gets low during the summer months, it would maneuver better through skinny water cuz it doesn’t have the deep keel like the LT. That was my main complaint about the LT, is the keel will cause you to drag a lot when the water is low. Now the LT would be more versatile for bigger rivers and lakes, it tracks better and it’s more stable with the keel. I’m 6’ 240 and the LT was a more stable platform for fishing for me compared to the Shoalie. The Shoalie is awesome and very stable too, but you do have to take it out on a trip to learn your primary and secondary stability better. It’s mainly in moving water where you have to lean upstream while eddying on the Shoalie. The LT with the keel is more forgiving when eddying, but doesn’t perform as well as the Shoalie with the rockers and ease of paddle on rivers. It flys and you use less effort on the shoalie on rivers. That’s why its awesome. If I primarily fished bigger water, camped and hit creeks, Buffalo and skinny water a few times a year, then I would choose the LT2. It’s more versatile if the water is deeper than 1’ to 1.5’ deep. If I hit more skinny water like creeks, Buffalo etc and fish lakes and big rivers less often, then I would choose the Shoalie especially if I was going to use my boat more often for the bigger/deeper water.

    In my opinion the Lite Tackle wins in every category except for speed. I give the EX 123 the edge for speed. It’s lighter, so easier to paddle faster. Once you get the Lite moving, it’s pretty fast and easy to keep it rolling. The EX will paddle in more shallow water than the Lite too. I’ve owned Jacksons, but not the Kraken. I currently own both, and I'd agree with everything he said between the two, the ex123 is lighter and definitely faster, both are really stable, as for tracking, the LT wins hands down, and is easier for me to fish out of and I think the LT is more Maneuverable. The lite tackle would be better for deeper water and open water with the better keel. With the shorter length of the CK, it will be better for maneuvering around rapids. The Lite is longer and performs great on moving water though, but the CK should do better with it being shorter. Of your car topping, the CK would be easier. Would love to hear your thoughts about the differences between the Lite Tackle and the EX123 as I think I’ve narrowed my choice down to those two options. What prompted the switch and what do you miss?

  • @Itchin2Fish

    @Itchin2Fish

    2 жыл бұрын

    Both are great options and to be honest with you. If I had the space, I would have both. I miss how light the EX123 and the speed. Stability goes to the Lite Tackle. I have fly fished and bow-fish while standing on it. Tracking goes to Lite, EX tracking is good though. Maneuvering, I would give the edge to EX, but if you follow my adventures the Lite performs well. Storage goes to EX, so if your going on overnight floats with a lot of gear, the EX has great space. Lite does too, but not as good. Overall versatility goes to the Lite. It’s great for all bodies of water inland, I’m sure gulf water too. If you want to mount a trolling motor or micro pole, then the Lite is best. The EX is harder to mount gear on it especially in the rear and you would need to do some diy work for sure, but has space for simple track options and trolly system. If I would have to choose one, it would be the Lite Tackle cuz of its versatility as well as how open it is for your legs, standing and and your arms for casting. It’s heavier, but performance out weighs that. The EX can get into some super shallow water, but if you are fishing mainly deeper stuff or anything over 18” your good with the lite.

    Which one is better when it comes to overall performance, Crescent LT or Bonafide ex123?

  • @Itchin2Fish

    @Itchin2Fish

    2 жыл бұрын

    Lite Tackle for sure. I’ve owned both for a year and the EX123 shined, but the Lite is better especially for all types of water. I was a huge fan of the EX, but stability wasn’t the greatest. It did track good, but the Lite is better for that too. It did get into skinny water better and hauled a lot of gear, but the Lite Tackle is easier to add accessories, performed better in moving water as well as slow water. The EX is lighter though when hauling and that’s the only category it wins.

  • @Itchin2Fish

    I highly recommend the LT over the Shoalie. I love my Shoalie, but the LT is more stable, better tracking, doesn’t get blown in the wind and handles rapids good and you will feel more comfortable and secure on it. It’s more versatile for other types of water too. The Shoalie is more a performance river boat. It takes some getting use to on the primary and secondary stability. It’s harder to stand in vs the LT. I love it cuz it’s more shifty and faster, but for a recreational paddler I would recommend the LT especially cuz it’s $500 cheaper. The CK is another great option, but the LT is better in my opinion. Tight lines friend!

    I haven’t paddled the CK, but I’ve looked at one close. Love the features of it. The bottom is rounded vs the Lite. It doesn’t have a deep keel, so I’m sure tracking is fair. But it will perform better in skinny water as well as moving water. I would also give the edge to the Lite on stability. With it being longer, it will be more stable even though the width is the same. If you are doing 90% river and streams, then the CK looks better, but if you are going to fish some lakes 60% of the time, then the Lite. Tight lines

    I think the CK lacks the hold of the LT. If you're going to do any kayak camping or bring along gear under the hatch,. almost nothing has the space of the LT. The CK if not mistaken just has a front tankwell. Not that this is bad,.just nowhere near what you can keep in the LT...
