In my opinion Jetta Sport (not to be confused with Jetta S) for $21k is amazing value for money, and being a VW will likely have less age depreciation than its competition. Honda also have strong resale values, and Civic is my personal favorite but admittedly not the lowest total cost of ownership. Corolla reliability and durability are good attributes to have in a small car, which inherently has a hard life by way of being a physically smaller package in every way than full sized vehicles. Corolla will be the cheapest ownership, but the lack of interesting driving dynamics is enough to lower its resale value below VW and Honda.

@@braetonwilson4296 From the Rust Belt. The name is accurate. This is where cars have a hard life. The durability aspect of Japanese brands, specifically Toyota and Honda, becomes very relevant in choosing a car to daily drive on salt covered roads. You can't easily get a full 25 year lifespan out of most cars here. Also, everybody here knows the fact that having a breakdown in a blizzard is not just inconvenient but potentially dangerous in below freezing weather, so reliability is all that more essential. Since you're living in the South, I think some of the cheaper compact cars on the market could be a better choice.

I recently bought a Mazda 3 and am really loving the overall look, inside and out, in addition to the way it handles. I’ve had so many Toyotas over the years, and was seriously considering the new Prius, but I was so turned off by the dealership experience. They were marking up the very base model Prius by over $9k! This was for the base model! I’m done with Toyota. In some ways, I guess it worked out as a plus since I introduced myself to a brand that I now really love. Driving the Mazda is a truly a joyful experience. Sure, I don’t get that amazing gas mileage, but I’m fine with that. Thanks for posting guys! ✌🏻✌🏻

I owned a 2017 Ioniq hybrid for 5 years before I totaled it last year. It was a great car with a comfortable ride for a compact with exceptional gas mileage and loads of storage. I bought a 2022 hybrid Elantra when I was in a pinch after my wreck last June (when you had to pay thousands over MSRP for a car and pray that you could buy one). It’s a comfortable car that drives well and is very roomy. The door cup holders are useless though, its gas mileage doesn’t touch the Ioniq Hybrid, and the bar separating the driver from the passenger is a daily frustration.. The hybrid Elantra has dual suspension while the normal Elantra doesn’t, so that contributes a lot to its driving dynamics. I’m not in love with its looks but it’s grown on me a little in the last year. But overall I’d say that I like the car and it’s better in some ways than the Ioniq, but I still miss my Ioniq. Oh, it also has great tech and safety features. Hyundai’s awesome warranty convinced me to take a chance on the brand (and I knew 1 person who had previously owned a Hyundai with all good things to say about it).

With Hyundai/kia,they give you alot of great safety features even with base models of their vehicles. For example: lane assist, steering assist, collision avoidance, blind spot detection, digital speedometer, great interior, etc. and like I said that’s even with their base models, which most car companies(mainly American) don’t give you those features standard. I just bought a 2023 Elantra brand new a week ago,and I have a friend that bought a 2024 base model of a Corolla. I had to question him if that was even a 2024. I love the higher trims corollas, but I also needed something a lot bigger as well. If it wasn’t for the redesigned Elantra,I wouldn’t have bought it. But I definitely do agree with you on the LEDs,it’s a shame Hyundai and Kia don’t put them on all their cars. But Hyundai finally put leds on all trim levels of the 2024 Elantras. I had 2020 Kia optima, and it not having full leds made it look ugly until I put full leds on it.

To tell you the truth, Nothing, and I mean NO thing, is perfect in this world. That’s universal. That includes Toyota, Hyundai, Volvo, Honda, Audi and any other brands of cars we know of. Everyone make mistake here and there. Hence, recalls exist for every brand, not just Toyota.
