Not a fixed blade but I just ordered a 6" Luzon and I feel like a fifteen year old kid getting excited over a samurai sword or something. I know I shouldn't want a knife like that but I do want it, I want it because it's ridiculous and badass and silly 😃 teenage me would be proud of 31 year old me, I didn't totally sell out

I always wondered why those Cold Steel videos were considered by some to be so controversial. I mean if you were shopping for a hard use knife, wouldn't you enjoy watching a demonstration of it being used as such before you purchase? I never understood the hate behind that....

@@me2bfc secure-ex is a little bit different material than kydex. Also secure-ex is made by injection moulding process I believe and kydex comes in sheets that you can actually make yourself pretty easily. Secure-ex has been known to sometimes dulls the blade depending on which one it is. Though I'm not sure if they've addressed that issue as of recently or not.

My sons got me the Chaos Bowie this past Christmas. It's kind of a tradition for me to give them a decent quality knife about every 3rd so they chose this one, for some reason. I asked them if they thought I was afraid of the dark. It looks like something you slay dragons with. But I do really like it for feel and quality. The edge surprises me, it's very tough with a rather obtuse bevel to it. Quite sharp but I'm thinking while it'll retain it's edge well it's going to be the devil to sharpen. Naturally I just don't really use it that much, but if I were camping and needing to feather sticks or use it for survival construction it'd be a good option. To be frank it's primary design function is intimidation, and I have no doubt it would do that. I warned friends at work before I brought it into my office just to show them, it's that scary.

Why is a drop forged knife stronger (more dependable) than a knife which is made of a single piece of steel, including a possible (integral) guard? Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

  • @brianf9619

A forged piece of steel is always stronger than a cut piece of steel because your stretching the steel and altering its grain structure. Drop Forged is when you stretch the steel over a mold and make it fit into the molds shape . Also the 52100 high carbon steel they use is a really tough tough steel . Hope this helped ....👍🗡🖖

It's not. In some absolute sense, yes it probably is, but it's not a practical difference for knives. It's like saying a coated chopping knife works better because the coating adds weight.

Compared to Mora Kansbol not better not worse just different. Hawk is thicker so better at batoning for hobo stove the Kansbol is slimmer so better at foodprep. The biggest thing is which handle you prefer more. /End of mini comparison/

AUS-8 may hold an edge a little bit longer, but the 4116 is a very-fine grained stainless... you will have an easier time getting a crazy sharp edge on it, and the toughness is typically good for a stainless.

Yeah about that...they're going CPM3V for the big outdoor carbon knives, they've lost their collective minds thinking I'm going to pay Dan Tope or Bark River for a CPM3V production knife. Not happening.😂and LCT doesn't own CS now GSM does. The Chinese made computer fishing equipment outdoor group. I forsee them getting an education when the sell out panic wears off

I really love coldsteel but my last acquisition the mini-tac tanto had really bad uneven grind of the blade edge, emailed them and it has been more than 3 months but still no reply from them. Disappointed...

Mini Tac sheath too secure not enough handle sticking out to be able to draw under stress or if hand wet or sweaty and definitely not able to draw fast. Originally bought as self defense knife but it failed so miserabley at that it is sitting in a box.
