Zhou Shen is so impressive that one song is not enough to meet him. He has a unique voice and a privileged ear. He is capable of interpreting five voices in a single song -Dalabengba-, he sings bel canto, Chinese opera, rock, rap and romantic ballad. He has excellent command of his voice and air control. These kinds of singers meet once every hundred years.

I can say, without an onze of doubt that this Zhou Shen song is my #1 and overall favorite Chinese song!! It simple transport me to another place, another time, like a fairytale!! I got to know it by a video of my favorite Chinese actor Yang Yang dance to it, I was so mesmerized by the song that I disposed to search everywhere for the name of the song!

To be honest there are not many young people listening nowadays Chinese Pop. Jay Chou is the one 10 years ago and he still is the one 10 years later now.

In the "name of the father" came out in 2003. It is 19 years old.

I grew up on Jay Chou, and even had the honour to see him perform live. You guys should def look more into him; he's also an amazing pianist

The film for which the Charlie Zhou Shen piece is for is rather good. He is an amazing artist. His output is rediculous - Jessica Ho's KZread Ultimate Playlist currerntly stand at 276 vids. Puberty did not hit him as others and led to much bullying and self doubt which thank god he came through and overcame to become the superstar that he is. He went to study Dentistry in Ukraine. Thankfully dentistry's loss is very, very much our gain. Time To Say Goodbye was from a series called Super Vocal not Singer. TTSG was his opening audition for Super Vocal - his cover of Memory on that show is IMO the best version ever and includes a self written Mandorin verse (so you need eng subs). Big Fish was his opening piece for Singer 2020 and was just before lockdowns hence the audience. His other performances for Singer 2020 (the last season) were equally great. A question I have when I see someone new is if they can perform with another. For example I really like the BTS/Coldplay collab or the Jin/Chris Martin/Coldplay. Zhou Shen and Sa Dingding's collab on on Upwards to the Moon is a must watch. The Hua Chenyou & Su Shiding collab (given 24hrs to come up with a version) Nanping Evening Bell is another must see. Zhou Shen took part in a competition (won) where he teamed up in a 'blind date kind of way' with Hacken Lee is brilliant. An emerging artist teamed with an established artist. The concept was brilliant. Yes!you finally did more Chinese music reacts.I’m Filipino and listen to other music because of Chinese historical dramas. Chinese music is real impressive.they are in another level. Their music is a national treasure and made to perfection. Even if you don’t understand the lyrics it absolutely pierce through your heart no matter the genre is.

I think a lot of the more outspoken, detailed and representative MVs that you watched are from Taiwanese artists. They are just so good at telling a story in such a short time. This way of having short films as MV later influenced Hong Kong and Mainland artists.

They are really good singers vocally but I'd like to recommend some more(mostly female): Jane Zhang, Tia Ray, Laure Shang, G.E.M., and the young generation Huang Xiaoyun(born 1998) and Shan Yichun(born 2001). They represent the best vocal techniques of cpop today.

First of all, when I saw title of vid, I was totally shocked!!! 😱🤭 The first singer, it's just so incredible, and the song he sang, I'm not sure if it's totally related but it sounds like the song from dgray man (anime) 14th song, can't really remember the title. If it's really the same song , I don't really know, but the tune, I can never mistaken it. Chinese music.. I also feel like we are in ancient times, it's just magical on it's own

Well, he's a musician who raps in his songs. He's extremely good at rapping, but he's not a rapper. There's a difference. Especially when a portion of his songs are ballads and many other music styles. He's an all around creator of music.

Although he's been cancelled, Huo Zun is still a brilliant singer. I think Hua Chen Yu, Tia, Mao Buyi, JJ Lin, A Mei, Zhang Bichen, Gai, Jam, GEM are great singers and songwriters too. All different and equally fab. Seriously, there's so many amazing Chinese singers and so many genres it's a lot of fun exploring

Besides Zhou Shen and Tan Wei Wei, the rest are pop singers. Gong Lina is more more of a niche audience. The song from Zhou Shen comes from the OST from an animation called Big Fish & Begonia (2016). It basically portrays a character who tries to amend her selfish choice against the community/society. I'd recommend Yu Kewei (Beautiful and soothing voice), A-Lin, Huang Xiaoyun, Ayunga, Terry Lin, Tia Ray, and G.E.M Tang.

You are trying to discuss one element from one of the oldest civilizations in the world. They have evolved their art, culture and music beyond what the western world has ever achieved. Tough job.

I don’t know if you will revisit the comments, but I wanted to comment on his vocal range. His voice did not change as a teenager. He has a three octave range. He was not trained formally until he was in the university. He was bullied due to his voice and his small size growing up so he stopped singing in front of others until he went to the university in Ukraine to study dentistry. His professor convinced him to change to music and he studied bel canto while there. He sang on China’s Voice. He lost early but proceeded to get the song Big Fish (Da Yu) an OST for an animated movie. This is his breakthrough song and its magical. In the first song, Time to Say Goodbye, he did not have much confidence. By the time he got to this show, he had gained confidence and now he is very famous. He is considered a walking CD due to the precision of his voice. His current version of this song is even more astounding. You can see it on the Time Concert Series.

Zhou Shen's voice didn't change with puberty & he is only getting better as he gets older. What he can do with his voice is spectacular, he likes to mix pop with classical and Chinese opera. You must react to more Zhou Shen. There is so much to experience. He is constantly evolving and challenging himself. I also love that he tries different genres and styles. He does not need to do acrobatics. His voice is stunning. His vocal range is amazing and his ability to sing in multiple voices. His most recent version of this song can be seen on the Time Concert TV show. Check it out. Remember he was not trained until, he went to the university. He is mainly self taught. It is so natural. Also the Chinese stages are so well produced. You must see his duet with Sa Dingding singing Upward to the Moon or his duet with Tengri where they combine each of their songs Heaven and Da Yu (Big Fish). It is gorgeous.
