You forgot to mention all the computational modes of the OM-5. Live ND, Live Composite, Starry Sky autofocus, etc. Also, the OM-5 + the 12-45 Pro lens is about the same price new as the XT50 body only.

Quite some happy OM-5comments here already. I am sure X-T50 comments will follow as it is a fantastic camera no doubt. But, I am a very happy OM-5 user as well and fully agree with all the positives that are mentioned in the comments. Two things on the X-T50 that others see as an advantage but I don't. The tactile shutter speed dial looks great, but with the two wheels on the OM-5 for shutter speed and aperture the shutter speed is changed more quickly. And 40 MP is great for details, but while traveling it takes up a lot of storage. If needed the OM-5 can deliver 80MP High Res files. To me maybe the best thing on the OM-5 is the grip. I have never had such a small camera with such a secure grip and that is very nice when you are out and about.

Having shot Olympus/OM, Fuji X, Fuji GFX, Sony FE, Nikon Z, and Leica M, I’ve settled on a hybrid setup. OM cameras and lenses for day to day and travel, and Nikon Z for studio work, critical event work in challenging conditions, and similar sorts of absolute IQ situations. An OM-5 with 12-45 is just so small, and OM Pro glass is incredibly durable. Fuji is a great experience and I had no issues with the shots I got, but (once lenses are factored in) it wasn’t nearly as small as MFT or as nice when I needed absolute IQ and DR as full frame. An OM-5 is pretty hard to beat for outdoorsy folks who want good enough IQ while remaining small and durable for cycling, hiking, etc. Everyone’s experience will differ though! It’s that calculus that we all have to make.

Thank you for your comment! I really feel tempted by Fuji, thinking about selling my Olympus gear and Canon FF. Sharing your experience was very helpful to me!

for me (had XT30 and XT3) is OM-5 the winner in all the aspects. I have hiked and climbed a lot with this little gem in the Alps or Carpatias. It is not only size and weight, but computational features it provides, or its IBIS are another level ...

A very fair and helpful comparison . One thing which is decisive for me though is the size and weight of the lenses. All are significantly smaller and lighter in the micro four thirds range for obvious reasons. The OM5 coupled with the 40-150 f4 pro zoom (80-300mm full frame equivalent) is a superb travel camera combination and I think there is no lens in the Fuji range which can match this.

yes i think especially if you plan to use tele lenses a lot or if you wish to add some spare prime to the bag, this is where the compact format can shine without being too bulky

I was due an upgrade on my camera and spent several days on line looking at videos like yours. I owned the Pro 2 and XT 20, and needed a camera that w as light and responsive (I have been taking photos for more than 60 years). I waited until the XT50 was released, saw the price and bought the OM 5 and am happy with the purchase. I live in the south with its high humidity, I travel and never know what the weather will be like, so weather conditions are important to me. One thing your video missed are the many different scenes listed on the dial (scn). I wanted to try that for street photography and take advantage of A.I. works like a charm. Before I would try different settings, come back writing down what works and what doesn’t. This time I turned the dial to scn and shot. Perfect results on every single shot. Not always a good one but perfect exposure . I always liked my Fuji but am happy with the quality and handling of the OM 5. The larger files of the XT 50 requires more storage and after 60 years of photos that is already an issue. Either camera works and both have their pros and cons. I have been happy with my choice.

Picked up a used OM5 a few months back for just over half of the new price and it's incredible as a small, light travel camera. Currently it's in France with me. With the 9-18mm lens which weighs next-to-nothing as a second lens, its ideal for city breaks and a whole lot more

The OM 5 is far superior to the Fuji…the focus, speed, features, build, color science, customization, all better and I have both cameras…problem I have with the xt50, is it’s slow to make changes while shooting, nothing is very intuitive. The film simulation is moot, because you can achieve this better in post. The OM5 high res mode is totally awesome, not to mention all the other computational feature…love the OM5!

They're both excellent cameras but depends what you prioritise, and whether or not you prefer the traditional dial-based way of shooting, which is admittedly slower. That's the point. As for fixing images in post, not everyone wants to spend hours on a computer. Getting the exact look you want in-camera is very appealing for a lot of users. (Not that the in-camera images from the OM-5 are not also very good).

i like the small lenses and the waterproofing of the OM-5. A 24-90mm equivalent zoom in aps-c would be big and heavy. In low light situations OM System offers the 20mm F1.4 so when teamed up with an OM-5 and a 12-45 F4 zoom gives the travel photographer a very versatile compact and lightweight system.

I travel with the OM5. I take the 12-45 f4 PRO and the 40-150 f4 PRO. Both are tiny lenses with superb image quality and between them they give me everything from 24 to 300mm full frame equivalent. Everything that I want in a tiny package.

The one thing you don't mention is the price with the lens, the Fujifilm being a new camera with a APSC sensor body alone in 1400 dollars and that should put it above the price of the OM5,while Fujifilm has a few small prime lenses, between Panasonic and Olympus lenses that are available for the OM5 you can choose from a greater number of lens that are very compact, i will be traveling to Aruba soon and my carry on is a camera backpack with a Panasonic G9 and the OM5, i have a few different zoom lenses and a few small prime lenses ranging from the Panasonic 9mm f1.7 to the Olympus 75mm f 1.8.
