That's a mighty impressive mic, especially for the cost. While source is a large part of recording, and the sources here are impeccable, this mic has the goods. Clear and precise and it picks up a wide frequency range. I will definitely investigate further. I hope it's easily obtainable in Australia. Thanks for this useful, as always, vid Mike
REALLY SWEET - Thank you Mike !
Music from back in the old days . . . when melody and harmony interacted with rhythm . . . nice demo! Very nice mic too.

Thanks again Mike...so informative...brilliant...and most of all easy to understand.
I think it sounded great. I have some T-Bone mics (t.bone mb 75 and BD 300) and their are fantastic value for the money.
Great vid Mike had a T Bone in my mic collection for some years incredible value for money.
Very nice mic and great job demonstrating it. Thanks for sharing.

Hi mate, I've subscribed. I'm a studio 1 user and your videos are awesome and so well presented.
Though many are drawn to the big brands with microphones there are afew budget models that offer fantastic value for money. I've seen this mic around for a while but hadn't considered it up until now. Thanks for the heads up Mike definitely on the consideration list :)
The song is so nice😃
excellent video mike. what a great price for something sounding excellent!!

Mike, i just found your channel, love the clarity , fullness and pro sound of your intro mix, what interface/preamp you use, killer acoustic guitar tones, ony thing ican tell is the harshy sibilance of the mic... yeah it is not a Neumann or telefunken but for less than 100 it is a killer option !! you have a new subscriber !! Best.
Thank you . Great singer ❤
Thanks for this review, would love to see a review from you of the Gototoolz GTZ87 or GTZ103
I love her voice ❗😱😁🙏💜🎤OMG❗❗🎵🎶🎧 She is AMAZING and that Mic really embellished her beautiful voice ❗❗💜🙏
Looks/sounds like a great mic, Mike . Will def. check it. Perhaps you should also have a look at the MXL 770. Also below 100 USD and great for voice as well as instrument recording.
Sounds great ! Crazy that you didnt even use anything but reverb on that, i would have never thought that. I have quite a few t.bone mics and they are often fantastic value, t.bone is one of Thomanns own brands and they have a lot of great value products in their own brands. I have the SC400 which is a smaller and even cheaper LDC that i got very cheap in a bundle years ago, its the only t.bone LDC that i have, but i have both SDC´s and dynamics and a complete set for a drumkit from t.bone and all are great.
I've used MXL budget mics with great success for almost 20 years. Both in a recording environment and for live sound reinforcement. As you dutifully noted, placement is paramount. Super video. Nice mic!

Hey Brandon. I'm very pleased to hear that, thank you :)
Sounding really good. I think with musicians it's quite common for brand snobbery to rear it's ugly head (a guitar sounds great until it's found to be a Squire or a Harley Benton for example). I know Behringer are putting out some very well received cheap mics at the moment. Your thoughts would, as always, be very interesting to hear.
Awesome sounding mic, then again the singing helped a lot. What pop filter is that? Haven't seen one of those wavy patterns before this video.
Hey Mike, thanks for this review. I've been looking to replace my old Shure SM58 with a more suitable mic for recording and I happened across your video. Short story - I sold the SM58 on eBay and got one of these - which included a deal with case, cable, mount and mic stand - I'm really impressed with it. The only downside - it doesn't make me sing like Suzi but hey, that's hardly the fault of the mic ;-) Thanks for all you do and do keep up the great work. Andy
@antjone
Жыл бұрын
Hi Andy. I've got an SM58 for vocals but am having a good look at this mic. Are you still pleased with it for vocals? What does it offer over the Shure?
Thanks for this impressive video.🤗 I bought this mic as a test because of the recommendation here, as well as the Shure SM57 that you recommended in another video. I primarily wanted to use it for recording a violin. But first I tested the mics on an acoustic concert guitar, at a distance of about 30 cm from the sound hole. The result was clearly in favour of the SM57. The SC450 was very muddy in comparison, especially in the treble. There was a complete lack of brilliance and resolution. Perhaps I should have placed the mic slightly away from the sound hole. But in this setup the SM57 proved to be better here. Strangely enough, when recording a violin at a distance of about 50 cm, the sound tended to be nicer, rounder and warmer with the SC450, while the very detailed SM57 reproduced all those unpleasant high side frequencies of the violin mercilessly. At least I had A Rode NT1 and recorded the guitar and and the Violin. Both instruments were recorded clearly with this mic and very neutral without adding lows or highs. In comparison to the NT1 the SC450 sounds a littele bit muffeled, though it´s still "not too bad for the price" and you may won´t miss anything until you haven´t heard a comparision. But there is always the human factor (in that case your ears) that can make a difference and what you have in mind to capture with a mic.
Hi Mike. I'm Jerry and I hope you're doing well. Thanks. I will be buying this. WOW!!

Hey Jerry - I am my friend :) So glad you enjoyed - have fun!
wow, nice sound, it isn´t important what kind of micro to use... because a music professional make it sounds good anyway... awesome... i think this micro is good to me because I am a beginner, just have a laptop, micro (newer 800) ,a behringer umc 202 HD, and that¨s all ( my actual micro is almost spoiled ), thank you for this video ! Un saludo desde España !
Thanks for the review Mike. I'm using the very same mic in my home studio and I really like it. I was actually disappointed because I bought a bit expensive mic together with that one but doesn't sound as good as the T bone...

Got this mic, its amazing. Have other t bones mb 85 and mb 75 which are just as good as the mics they are copying. Worth a check. But this 450 is the go to for everything really
Amazing review! Could you please compare this mic with Behringer C-1U? This is also cheap mic and due to reviews it sounds great.
Would like a budget dynamic mic
The sound is really crystal clear! Thanks for this very useful vid. Nevertheless, it seems less receptive to bass sounds than to medium and trebles. Am I wrong ?
@CreativeSauce
3 жыл бұрын
I think I could say its more receptive to mid and high frequencies. That bass had a rather soft and round sound in this example, but that was likely much more to do with mic placement.
Sounds great to me. Love the song. Does it have a title yet? "That's what we do" always pops out to me. Thank. Hope you're well.
Sounds great! What are the experiences using the mic live on stage? Will the mic be suitable for a one mic technique for bluegrass acts?
Sounds incredible for the money 💥 really lovely vocals and playing from you guys too ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My big takeaway from this though? 'Point mic at singers mouth' 😂 unless it's me singing, in which case 'keep John away from mic altogether' 😬 Btw, would love to see you review the AudioTechnica AT2020, if only to see if your opinion tallies with mine on it

The SC-450 is a great microphone. Way better than many similarly priced microphones. The SC-1100 is even better IMHO.
First, that song has "potential hit" written all over it. And Suzy knocks it outa the park! The mic is impressive as well. I'm thinking seriously about getting it. But would love to hear you review TZ Audio's Stellar X2 ($199)! Have heard amazing things.

I use a t.Bone SC400 for the same sources. I guess the quality of mine is equally as good. The difference being abandoned Hi-pass filter and Pad.
Please compare AKG P 120 and T. Bone SC 450 as i wanna buy one for vocals and some live instruments such as Harmonium
Not sure if you've already covered it - but what are your thoughts on the venerable Rode NT1-A?
I've already got an NT1-A and an AT-2020 that I use on most projects would this add anything extra? Apart from the warm glow of buying more studio kit
Hi! Can you compare this mic to AKG D5? I think it can be very interesting
The t.bone mic sounds really good. Pretty clean recordings. You should also try the BOYA BY-M1000 (also known as the MOVO VSM-7). It's also under 100$.

Suzy and the Banshee ... xD Yes, budget nowadays doesn't necessarily mean bad quality. The Neewer NW-800, for example, cuts the price of the T-Bone in half again, and is still a clean, surprisingly good mic for the money!
Sounds impressive to my ears, curious how this compares to a Worker Bee.

It's not viable to order and have this shipped to the US, though it can be done. Not sure about using it on bass, either, but everything else sounded good. I'm pretty happy with my AT2020 mic in that price range.
