Ugly stiks are my favorite rods. It's always cool to see people use them. I have one my dad gave me that's at least 40 years old and it still catches a bunch.

Imo I don't love them. The tip is soft and mushy, they are slow action rods. They have exceptions in their line. I own a Tiger for sturgeon. But if somebody needs a new rod and doesn't want to spend a bunch of money, they will certainly do the job on a budget

I enjoy these videos JC! Don't worry on the haters that don't like what you use...sponsorships is what helps you live and eat to keep on going! They wish they get that love and opportunity! Hundreds of videos you've done proves you can land quality fish on affordable low priced non popular brands! That's what's it's about! There's anglers out there on $1000 setups and you show on $200 or less embarassing them! You do you're thing and keeping it real! Oh and that bait caster reel with that screw problem. You're a handy dude...I'm an auto technician and I've dealt with thousands of bad screw/bolt threads. A way of fixing it either doing a heli coil repair...or you fill the hole with some type of jb weld. Let it dry well, drill the hole with the proper bit and retap it.

I bought a 6500 Daiwa BG for sturgeon fishing in the PNW. I had no idea how huge it is. Those daiwa reels are way bigger than most other brands. It should do the job even if I hook into a 10 footer

Great overview JC, you can never have too many setups!! I definitely support getting out the big setups and going for the big snook and tarpon, it's been a while! Love all the videos, but when you target the big ones, those are my favorite! Take care and looking forward to the Mexico trip!!

I would love if you condensed the most important bits…and maybe best value combos or rods and reels…into maybe a 6-8 minute video…I saw the length of this one…and tuned out immediately. Sorry bro. If you wanna do both, that’s cool too…but please make something that is digestible in much shorter format for most of us thx🙏🏻🍻

Great video JC !!! This is the core of what drew me to your channel in the first place. An everyday guy catching fish on everyday equipment. I agree with you on the Ashconfish braided line, but I do prefer the 8 strand. How have you found that the 4 strand compares to the 8 strand ? I would love to hear your thoughts, and maybe a review??? Keep up the good work !

Hello sir. I’m getting into kayak fishing and am very much enjoying your content. Maybe you could make a second channel for the videos you don’t see fit on this channel? I have much to learn your videos are very helpful but I went for a cheap sundolphin Bali ss to just see how I like it and was wondering if you had any tips for stability? Maybe I just need more time to get used to being on the water.

Great info, JC! Do you use the Silver Max only for freshwater? If so, why? Also, why 6 lb. line on a Med Hvy rod?

  • @RadReelingFishing

Sometimes I use the silver max in salt, but not often. I like spinning reels a lot. The 6 lb. is for Crappie fishing, and for catching Pinfish.

JC I recently took a father daughter fishing. He also purchased 2 of those set ups at Sam's. Way too heavy and bulky for for his high school daughter to handle. If there is some intrest, maybe some suggestions on rods and reels that families would enjoy. On the Flats or the beach, where is the fish going.

Promoting budget rod and reels is great. But fishing line no lol. I've tired what your talking about and the beyond braid and there garbage. New line breaking no where near the knots. There's plenty of more budget lines than that. As people realize they actually wanna do it and more highly suggest upgrading slowly so you don't go spent money on what you like. Buying penn combos I don't suggest cause the poles are garbage on those combo's but my reels have held up. The pursuits I highly recommend for a better reel without breaking the bank. I've been moving on from them cause I love the Florida fishing products line. A lot lighter and fit me very well. Also a FL business and not big Corp China made product. Bull bay another FL brand that I love and most of what I own cause im close, light weight, durability and a Warranty to back it. Love the small business products. Also love my crowder rods. Long lasting for years also. Once you decide it's something you love it's worth spending the money so you don't constantly have broken stuff maybe after a year. Salt water it will beat the breaks off you gear and it don't take using it a bunch. That's why I've spent a little more money buying my fishing tackle
