Best headphones I've ever had were the Panasonic Shockwave pair that came with my Panasonic SL-SW505 CD player. They were so good that I used them as a baseline for comparison for every pair of headphones since then. While I haven't spent hundreds or thousands on some magical hifi set of headphones, I have spent upwards of $80 or $90 on a set just to be disappointed that they didn't sound as good as the Shockwave headphones. I can't find another of the original yellow Shockwave headphones so hopefully the RP-HT227 can come close! FYI, I was a professional sound technician for about 20 years!

This is the first of your videos I've seen and really like how you put a mic in the earpiece while you're listening so we can hear what you hear and not just someone giving an opinion. This tactic is missing from every review I've looked at for headphone comparisons which leaves me guessing and buying headphones I don't like. They way you've done it I can actually get an idea of the sound irrespective of commentary. Excellent review methodology!

Really? I'm even more impressed with the RP-HT21.

In Back 2013 i used to have jbl t26c stereo headphones which was under (indian rupess 800) around $12 usd at that time best bass ultimate sound . i never seen such headphone in that budget again . I want to buy them again in 2023 but they discontinued it many years back ☹️

For the price, you'll get your best bass response from $12-$20 in-ear ear buds than open headphones. You need to spend 2x-3x more to get bass response in open ear headphones nowadays.

I own 75.00 grado headphones from 04. I also own these panasonics. For my Kindle fire tablet I use the panasonics way more. They're light, good bass, good highs and they crank! I paid 6.00 for them and they sound better than pricier headphones for sure , a steal!

I had a pair of Grados for about a month before they got stolen from my desk. Nobody bothers to steal my Panasonics. lol

My schools computer science classes have Koss KPH7s and they're not the best. They don't have a lot of bass and I tested them with songs that are bassy (I'm a metalhead and Tracheotomys Mask of Sanity has a lot of bass) and there's basically none at all, which sucks for bass heads like me. They are definitely lightweight though.

For a cheap over-the ear yes. For cheap wired headphones in general not so much. Temu, Shien, etc. have flooded the market with some really nice knock off of audiophile worthy earbuds.

@@MoondogReviews I think even a child will notice their not so great . Thanks for doing the video . I watched it through til the end . For $10.00 may I suggest the VE MONK PLUS EARBUDS . You Can HEAR Whats Going On Around You At Least As Good As The KPH7 With far superior sound and better cable too .

@@MoondogReviews I did make the kph7 sound a little better using a HIDIZS S9 PRO DAC AMP DONGLE but I'm sure yer not looking for this setup for children . In your vid I could clearly hear the Panasonic had better sound . I recently got the Koss KSC75 , KPH40 , KPH30I & Porta Pro which while all different all suffer from having excellent sound quality . The $10 VE MONK PLUS EarBuds sound better that they should with full vibrant sound . The KPH7s I will be returning to Amazon

@@DroidLocks6971 I'll take a Porta Pro all day long compare to either of these two but I've never seen a Porta for less than $35 (if you can find new ones at under $30, please post a link!). Earbuds will generally give you much more accurate sound than a similarly priced open-back headphones because they offer much better sound isolation and ported bass response in your ear canal. But like I said, I want my kids to actually be able to hear me when I'm calling them. It's bad enough they usually ignore me with these open-backs. lol
