Would you say that the Onkyo TX 8220 is better than the Cambridge Audio AXA35 to be paired with Wharfedale Diamond 12 series? Or if Cambridge is better, is the difference that obvious? The price difference in my country where I source equipment is a bit big. 18k for Onkyo and 24k for Cambridge.

I haven’t tried Cambridge yet. My Onkyo is doing well but i added an equalizer to get bigger bass and treble

I'm planning to buy this one as well. can you give an honest review? I can only afford this or the polk audio t50. I know that this is a 2.5 way speaker, do they underperform on high end? on spec sheet they listed that this has a bass driver, a mid driver and a full range driver, does this means that the small speaker on top doesn't function as a tweeter? hoping for your reply.

Wharfedale d330 punch way above their price range. I have 7.1 Wharfedale setup, all from d300 line and they are exceptional.

It looks like these speakers have been discontinued, anyone have recommendations for a pair of floorstanding loudspeakers around $300 - $400 for a pair?

What are the odds that I’m actually thinking about purchasing this exact set up, the Wharfedale with the Onkyo… would you recommend? I listen to rock mostly, grunge mainly. Any advice would be helpful!

This is just a budget setup and can't compare to expensive speakers and receiver. I still prefer a 3 to 4 way speaker to get a good sound for musical instruments. I will just buy and add a horn tweeters to improve the quality. The use of equalizer is also recommended if you can find one now.

@@butchcosmeThere's no way to connect an equalizer to these modern receivers, mainly because they don't have tape monitor loops. I hate that about my TX-8555, which is otherwise a kick ass amp. You CAN hook up an EQ to one source connected to the receiver - for example, putting the EQ between the CD player and amp, but that will only equalize that source. There's no way to equalize the entire system connected to the receiver, which truly sucks. I used to love the sound of the smiley face curve.
