Jess, you are one of my favorite bag makers on KZread because you keep your instructions simple but clear. I have a Husqvarna Viking Rose embroidery machine that I bought in the early 2000’s. It was pretty expensive but you can use bigger hoops. Unfortunately the software is very outdated. Watching your video makes me want to invest in a newer machine Thanks for the great video.

Great video!! I have a number of Brother Sewing machines and a 4x4 embroidery machine. I love that they are “ plug and play”. I think if I paid top dollar for a Bernina and it was that complicated to embroider I would have just returned it. I feel like the more you pay, the easier it should be to use, but it’s the opposite.

Hi! Nice video! I have this machine, the combo version, I did lots of research about oiling because it sounded really odd that it doesn't need any. There are 4 main bearings holding the main shaft and the lower shaft, I am not familiar with the technology but the way I understood is that the inner part of these bearing have pores filled with oil that gets released when the machine is running, and returns to the pores when it cools down. When the stitching count reaches the service point, they change the exhausted bearings with new ones, apparently the service count is around 12 million stitches. Other parts are greased and you don't have to worry about them. I still put a very tiny drop of oil on the moving parts now and then, or you could apply a teflon lubricant making sure the excess doesn't drop on the elctronic components, motors or wires. I suggest doing this only after the warranty has expired though

If you could do alot of videos on this machine it would be great. There are a ton of in the hoop projects and the one I want to see even though there are several out there is doing a cover on a mini comp book. I know your very particular and i know you would go a great one. I know you have one but it has too many hooping I think, could be wrong about that one. One of brother's strengths is their customer service, it's fantastic. Brother's instruction manuals are brilliant, and I actually photocopy and laminate the bits that I struggle with. Most of my electronic devices are brother, and I've never been worried because any problems that arise (not that there has been a lot), customer service is prompt and they actually come across like they want to help!

Hey Jess! Congrats on your new machine! I find that turning down your speed helps when doing embroidery on vinyl. That could be that bump noise you were hearing. I have a Babylock which is made by brother. After 6 years of heavy use, I have never had to hold the thread. I would think there is a needle threader. I can’t see it in the video but should be there given how many time you have to change colors. The Brother/Babylock threaders are great! Nope, won’t need to be oiled. I take mine in for service every 2-3M stitches. Kind of a tuneup. Any oiling is done then.

I bought my first embroidery machine 4 years ago. I got the Brother VM5100 sewing/embroidery combo. Biggest hoop is a 7x12. It was a splurge retirement gift I gave myself and I have loved it so much. First time to have a needle threader and it is the greatest thing ever. I use prewound bobbins from Amazon and my machine does fine with every brand of thread I've tried. I have it serviced once a year and it's oiled then. You don't have to hold the threads when you start because it will knot and bury them for you. It's the most fun I've ever had and I mainly sew for grandkids and gifts.

I started machine embroidery about 15 years ago and I thought about a Brother machine but my local store only carried Husqvarna Viking and I didn't want to drive an hour and a half to OKC to check out machines. So I purchased a floor model Platinum 950E machine for $1800 and I loved it. It used a card and a card reader which were becoming harder to find so I upgraded that to a Husqvarna Viking Topaz 30 about 10 years ago because it used a thumb drive. My husband got me that machine for Christmas and he paid $3600 for it. I traded that machine in last year for the last machine I will ever have and that is a Husqvarna Viking Epic 2 machine which is the absolute bomb. That machine was on sale in Tulsa for $13,000 with my trade in. I will have to say with all of the bells and whistles it is the easiest machine I've ever used to embroider on. I did not purchase the largest hoop that fits the machine because there really aren't enough designs available for that extremely huge hoop to justify the cost of buying it. The store in Tulsa also carried Brother and they are very, very nice machines. However, since I started with Husqvarna Viking I thought I should stick with that brand so I could continue to use all of the accessories I already had. I do more traditional sewing (garments and quilts) than I do embroidery so a multi needle machine was not something I was interested in.

Thank you so much for this unboxing tutorial. This is the machine I have been eyeing - I would love to see some more tutorials so I can be really sure it's the one I want. Could you do tutorials showing (1) using more than one thread color in a design; (2) showing everything you need to buy in addition to the machine to get started - stabilizer, thread, scissors, etc.; (3) difference in the stablizers and how do you know which one to use; (4) how to cut out the finished design. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I got the Brother SE1900 which is the PE800 with the sewing function. I have upgraded to a Babylock Meridian for the 9 1/2 x 14 inch hoop but use my Brother for my sewing. The threader is great, read the instructions or watch KZread 🤣

Also take it from someone who owns 4 machines, make sure that there is someone in your area who services the brand of machine you purchase. If you buy from a brick and mortar store chances are that there will be a technician there, but if you buy online, you may have to travel far to get serviced. And it is very expensive to mail these machines as they then to be very heavy.

I have a brother sewing machine as my first as well and this is what I used to learn on. Now I would like to know what’s the best inexpensive serger out there for someone like me that wants to learn how to use one. I find it would come in handy with some of my projects. Thank you, I really enjoy your videos and they inspire me to challenge myself and try new things.

What I have found using Husqvarna Viking is if you have nesting on the bottom of the embroidery it is because of the bobbin tension. That means when you put the bobbin in the bobbin casing, you have to hold your finger on the top of the bobbin while you thread it through the guides. If you don't do that on a Husqvarna Viking machine, the bobbin tension will be out of whack and you will have thread nesting guaranteed.

I highly recommend having your machines covered. July last year we had a water leak in the house and the contractors had to rip out dry wall and replace, they didn’t cover anything and turned on a shop vac that put dry wall dust over my whole house. If my machines wouldn’t have been covered it would have ruined them or cost lots and lots of $ for maintenance

In January 2021 I bought a Baby Lock Vere with a 4 X 4 hoop, I love it! Expect for being held back by the hoop. I didn't do enough research about hoop size. But, I am finding all kinds of things to do. Key Fobs, Hair Clips small items.

I have brother pe770, a tip is dont use the spool caps they can cause issues, and sewers aid is your friend. I love my machine! Enjoy yours🥰 also use water soluble on top of vinyl cause the foot will stick on certain vinyl. And I cover the bottom of shiny vinyl with the paper that comes between your bolts of interfacing. The piece with the instructions. It tears away like butter. Glitter vinyl is the worst for sticking.

I have this machine only in the PE770 Brother. Works wonderful. This machine and the 770 have the same hooping clamp The only thing is the way the hoop attaches to the arm. It gets hard to attach the hoop after awhile and the embroidery arm gets lose. Other then that work well, sews very nice

I have a Babylock Verve that only had a 4x4 hoop. I made great tees with flower logos for our Mother’s Day outing. But I want to make more in the hoop projects and it is too small for most. One project for back to school is a chapstick holder and it needs just a bit more space than I have. But I can embellish it first, then see it raw edges on the machine.

that little round nubby disc thing is for changing your sewing machine needle, the screw on your machine needle instead of using a screw driver which is hard to get at use that disc and it is so much easier to get at that screw to loosen it up and tighten it back up.
