Best BBQ Hack ● Using A Juice Bottle !
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Your BBQ ignitor button and LED light button are not weather proof! Your BBQ ignitor will stop working in short time once the rain gets to it. Here's a great BBQ hack to easily protect your ignitor button and keep it weather proof.

Ya lets make a outdoor grille with components that are less than IP66 rated. Ya, that switch its available in IP-66 or greater, but they cost a few more bucks. Yet when spending upwards around $400, everything in and on that grille should be rated for weather! Chris that button is available from Digikey and a few others.
Another genius idea, Mr. Chris! You are a wealth of crafty fixes. And the best part is, you always share them with us. So we can seem crafty, too.
Well done - simple as that!
Brilliant!
Super creative and smart…i always look forward to your videos-I alway learn something, always

Mr. Notap, you're quite brave to be doing some craftwork in a very nice buttoned shirt. very genius idea! I'll have to send this to my pops.
If I had that problem, I would just take a 2" piece of electrical tape, 1" wide or more, and fold back 1/3 of it to make a flap to stick above the button (which will not stick to the button.

That would work too.

Great idea Chris!
I wonder if just squirting marine grease around the button would work. Or doing the same with a circular cut of plastic from a ziplock bag alternatively.

It's all about experimenting and solving a problem. Both of those ideas could work.

Most high pressure greases are electrically conductive. I'd suggest silicone grease. I was considering packing the button like a bearing with it.
Cool idea, do you think it needs a weep hole?

You could to be sure.
Very clever Chris! (But what about the switch? Did you repair or replace it? How bad was the corrosion?)

Yes I did have to replace the switch.

Great idea.......Take care, Bluefin.
I have an older Broil king Baron. Uses the less elegant push button (that houses a single AA battery). It's never failed me in the eight+ years I've had the bbq. Think I've only changed the battery once so far
Or, you could cover your bbq grill or keep under patio.

I agree but you have to wait for it to cool down while you eat. It's not til the next day after a night of rain you go "Oh crap!"
I'm absolutely convinced that this man is shadowing my every move in an effort to achieve his nefarious plan: To solve all of the minor annoyances in my life. When I needed better dust collection, suddenly he appears with his 5-gallon buckets. When I needed an easy way to get rid of wasps, he breaks out the shop-vac and shows me how to do it. Now, when I've just purchased a grill, he comes out with this video. I am simultaneously very scared and very grateful.

@MKemplCl, I fear that your suspicion has uncovered a nefarious plot that had escaped my feeble awareness. Although it is clear that we cannot corral this "bad actor", if we gather a dedicated group of worthy compatriots, we can gather evidence that will bring him (or is this an alien being? ) to justice. I'm on board!
👍👌👏
I honestly can't tell if this is an April Fools video. I guess it isn't?
Great idea! By the way, your recent video about the hammer-arresters for stalking pipe vibrations worked out fantastic. Got a pair and put them on and the issue went away.
Is this a good idea? The bbq will get very hot when up to temperature for cooking.

There is not much heat that gets transferred to the knobs and ignitor area.

The thing is I forget to put it on since the bbq is hot when you remove your food. I remember the next day when it’s raining!

@@chrisnotap, that is eeriely similar to my own alarm system.
I think you can also use some flexible rubber grommets that allow you to press in the button without having to unscrew the top. But this will work well imo
I’m sure it works but I'd replace the switches with waterproof ones.
😂
I hate those electric sparkers. Piezoelectric ones worked when wet and rarely failed. I only have to replace the "spark end" that gets burned away from the flame in my 90's webber every 3-5 years (i use it daily as long as there is no snow). Every time I use a friend or relatives grill the dumb electric sparker is dead... probably for this exact reason.
I have a quicker hack. Use a cover and you will never have that problem :) Nice video though!!!!

LOL agreed! :)
I might suggest adding a weep hole at the bottom so any water that does get in has a way out.
Just condensation will make them not spark. They work again when they dry out. My BBQ does not have buttons, when you turn on the gas it sparks. Never works when wet but still working after 35 years and I never cover my BBQ because it did not come with one. BBQ Galore Cook-On Three Burner. If I cook after a rain or in foggy weather I use a lighter which then dries it out.
You could by a cover and protect the entire grill

Hot glue gun would have sealed it too if you don't have silicone sealant.

I don't know YOUR grill but my grill would re-melt hot glue there. Regularly gets to 50°C .
