Klemen Doplihar pros: big tuning potential. If you find cheap it will have some problems but it has cheap maintenance so it won't empty your wallet. Very strong engine. Cons: shitty haldex not torsen so it's 90% fwd 10% rwd

Przemek Molęda s3 is a different beast to the a3. s3 has bam engine and a3 has auq mainly. bam has ko4 turbo and auq has ko3s turbo. bam also runs a different compression over the auq so will rev slightly higher a3 180bhp stock fwd s3 225bhp stock awd both six speed. 5 speed first gen 1.8t has ko3 turbo and is the best 1.8t engine to strap a big turbo to.

andrew wright close but not correct on all. BAM was lower compression to help with higher boost, not higher RPM.all 1.8ts revved the same. early S3 had 210 but later given 225. I had an earlier APX block from recalled early TT and it was a gem.

Dan R my golf 1.8t had some ecu modifications. Would almost do 80 in second gear at 7500rpm. Only 1.8t av been in with such a high limit. My friends have owned many. Bery reliable with the correct full synthetic oil. With cams and valvetrain mods 9000rpm can be achieved.

yurixruz correct all 's3 8l' use the haldex awd system. Fwd = a3

Yes S3 are AWD. The first S3s though were FWD, but there are only a few of those. If you're asking about the black s3 in the dyno, the S3 has a Haldex hydraulic system which can be "deactivated" if you lift one notch on the handbrake, or remove the fuse. This is done in order to avoid damage to the haldex system during dyno pulls.

FCDB PCH to dyno a Haldex car correctly you need to pull the fuse for the Haldex and run the car in front wheel drive only!
