UPDATE: In regards to Artifacts that drop from Expeditions, AGS made a change from the PTR to Live servers that requires you to be in a Mutated Expedition (M1, M2 or M3) in order to get Artifacts to drop from bosses.

According to the release notes released today (2-Oct), the loot drops are biased to your build and are at "a high gear score". M1 is balanced for 650, M2 for 675, and M3 for 695+. I can't determine if that also means that GS of the drops will bias in that direction as well (excluding artifacts).

Thanks for the in-depth and great coverage of the artifacts, where to find them, and upgrade system and all that. Super excited for all of the upcoming content! I was kind of hoping that the shields would be considered weapons so us tanks could double dip The Wall and the Void Darkplate, but at the same time dual wielding an artifact shield and artifact sword/maul seems dope. Combining the heal on block of Michael and Odos Defense for an 8% base health heal every block seems like it'll be a very interesting combo. :)

Scorpion's Sting having trenchant strikes is probably a nod to using Scorpion's grappling hook in Mortal Kombat and then uppercutting the opponent, a pretty iconic mini-combo; as is the spear being called Scorpion's Sting and having the flavor text it does in general.

It is not confirmed that the artifacts drop at PvP tack level 100. NWDB shows this info but (some) artifacts dropped before 100 on PTR, which was also reported by a user in the Discord as a bug. NW Chardis (Amazon Game Staff) responded to the player asking what the bug was, the player said that artifacts are supposed to drop at level 100 on which NW Chardis replied "no, that is not the goal". So in no way an official statement but there is a chance that level 100 is unintentional or a read error from NWDB.

I know you mentioned the Wizard Hat being short of underwhelming, but in my own practice with it, it's proven to be REALLY good for a mage build - especially if you're running Void/Life build. You just never run out of mana, letting you drop multiple stacks of abilities for both weapons before needing to potion up. I know you miss out on some other good perks from other armor artifacts, but getting double mana is insane. I'm planning to either people Keen Beacon or Health on it as the last perk, depending on if i can get Keen Beacon on something else instead. The Wizard Hat seems best for those mage builds that are using their abilities for both weapons constantly. What i also noticed is not having to run additional mana boosting consumables allowed me to run 4 potions instead (Health, Mana, Focus, Regen) which keeps me alive in sticky situations where i might be silenced and also can't use a health pot, i have the extra slot for regen. Seriously, the Wizard Hat is really solid in practice imo.

Michael is considered an armor piece. You will only be able to have the shield on and no other artifact armors.

Do we have any idea on when the bow and stuff like that might be added. Doesnt make much sense to leave out stuff for release.

Artifacts are really cool. I was pretty sad to see they didn’t add any artifacts for ice gauntlet or bow though. Hopefully they add more in the near future. Overall this expansion has been fantastic

There are coming with the next Update, but the Bow are full Lightning like the Hammer and the Lifestaff are more a DamageLifeStaff, but not so good for Healing 😢

Currently the best Tankset up imo is Azoth Crystal Gear (Named Mobs M2+ only) Dark Plate, Sword/Shield, Odo w/ gem slot, Ankh amulet to make living permanent in raids and pvp. I spent like 5 hours going through all the artifacts and items in game on NWDB trying to find the perfect tank set. Flail is almost required now since its the only artifact weapon that isnt a dps/pvp weapon and help with tanking.

inferno seems like it would be broken in a light strength build with the great axe. grav well to group up then burnout/incinerate to hit them and pillar or fireball to finish them off.

Strength scale firestaff and war hammer. For the firestaff artifact. U unlock escape and stubs. It could be insane wym

the abyss and wizard hat dont drop from the box's they are a random extra reward on top of also getting the box.

Trying out the Greatsword and loving it only not sure what a good weapon to pair it with is currently using Blunterbluss which is pretty fun what do you guys think is best to play with GS? Mostly aiming for 1v1 / open world pvp

for the spear coup de gras counts a heavy thats why trenchant is so good on it

So is the pvp reward track the only way to get the blunderbuss? I really want it, but im not a pvp player at all.

For the record Ankh is light years ahead of all the other artifacts. It is insanely good.

That's only if you have vigor or invigorated on 4 other pieces of your gear. So, there is a big tradeoff there to get to that 95%..

Got nerfed in patch notes , now it's 80% , which is still very strong but opens up space for freedom one or heavy chest one

Can we change the last perk on the ring as well? As a healer I would like to change it to Sacred.

In the New World database says that (at least) The Wall and Mjolnir only drop from Mutated+1 and I guess upwards. Which is a pain in the ass because you can't farm those anytime you want. I'll have to wait for Ennead/Lazarus mutated to get them...

Where's the tier list that was in the thumbnail? I was looking for that summary.

refreshing perks are cap at 4 but u can still get cd from attribute like foc and that artifact coat.

how do you change a perk on the artifact, if you dont like the last perk it comes with?

Interesting idea. Imagine having dual swords or dual hatchet DPS builds? Maybe it could make a dual sword build more of a hybrid crowd control weapon much more damage output at the cost of that defensive value. Really good for light equip DPS that never get aggro. Interesting

How is your carry capacity 6k? Is that a PTR thing?

You can change like for my ado on pve I want the flail vortex heal perk but for pvp I want the extend cooldown smite weapon perk on flail.

Somethings off on Nur Mur for light chest. I spent 4+ hours trying to get it tn.

So I cannot stack multiple artifacts into the same type of gear slot? Meaning I couldn’t do the light chest artifact with the wizard hat? Or if I have Michael shield I can’t have the heavy void chest?

You are correct. Only 1 per type (Armor/Shield, Weapon, and Jewelry).

Is the abyss useless for strength build due to intelligence scaling?

when i am in a raid group i get the legendary weapon quickly but i wonder if you apply that to a dungeon as well since you can turn it into raid group. anyone else tried this?

You only have to be level 20 in the pvp track for the drop chance on those specific pieces. Level 100 is not required

Heavy armor + slash ward ( 4 s ) + elemental aversion set with opals + thrust amulet and slash shield + blood drinker ring + 500 con. Good luck to kill xD

Pretty sure shields have had the attribute points removed. Sword carries all the attribute points now (and flail). Shields have one extra perk in place of the stats (I think).

Any word on Commander Thorde NPC location??

Imo the strike dmg isn’t the problem with the str firestaff because fire doesn’t get any dmg boosts from str anyways. The problem is that the burns don’t scale w str. Strike dmg is actually kinda nice because you dodge the ele aversion meta
