Man great job on getting this!! Looks super beefy!!! I've had the Rustler 4x4 and it doesn't look anywhere near as strong as this, 14mm hexes could be an issue with other wheels and tires but I'm sure the aftermarket will take care of that. I'm thinking it should fit. Just check the diagram to see where the body posts line up.

The buttons on the side that you can hit with your thumb is how you set your endpoints on your steering.

Need the new 4s line-up to come out already!!

Should run it against the granite blx V3 to see how they compare.. because it looks alot like a lowered Granite with spectrum guts lol. Its nice though may pick one up and put a old ford body on it like the outcast. Which is what iv done with my Granite

Looks like a fun little truck, its closest to an outcast of all the models

The Granite probably handles closer to the Outcast, but this has the wing. THe tires on this don't balloon much which makes it handle differently in the air.

Not ballooning much is pretty good because you can access the speed more and remain stable even without AVC, sounds like fun tires to try on the senton blx

Great review! There is no more fun driving a Super big rc like Baja and x max, than a 1:10 scale. Just twice as expencive. The whole rc segment is blown out of propotions when taking about fun in my opinion. Making these big rc's is only to make more money by selling us bigger and expencive things. Then it all is out there on youtube, kids watching it with no idea what this cost and you know how that ends. This car is perfect size like the Rustler 4x4. Just my thoughts around rc.

I agree. Fun can be had at almost any level of RC. IT's all about expectations. This 3s BLX lineup is fast for 3s and offer a ton of fun.

I'm gona swap out the long arms to give it that stadium truck stance !!

This also has shorter shock towers than the Granite/Big Rock/Typhon. The arms are the same as the Granite.

Don't know if it's worth the Big Price difference between Big Rock - Vortek??? Thanks again Tony 👍 I've not tried a Bluetooth module yet.. I would not have even known they existed if you had not shown🤔 Why they not advertising?

Wish they would tell us when the 4s Kraton will be released.

You don't need to modify the tilt. Just flip your phone the other way. Camera will be at the top and a better viewing angle. Every phone auto rotates. Free mod ftw.

I just got this truck today in the purple color, my first RC car. It is unbelievable the way it performs the speed, handling etc. Can you pls tell me the purpose of the extra Pinion they added in the package and should I change it? Thank you

It's for peopel that want to do speed runs. If you plan to run it in grass and to jump, you want to leave the gear on that came installed on it.

CCxRC, you missed the most important difference. The shock towers and shocks are shorter than the rest of the 3s line. If not for this, it would just be a Granite with AVC/SMART electronics.

Indeed! People seem to miss the point this is $60 more for 10mph increase due to gearing with no major changes over the rest of the 3s blx range. If Traxxas pullled a fast one like this you’d all be screaming same old same old!

Nice vid! If you could only afford to buy one, which would you buy; Vorteks, Big Rock or Typhon? For drivability, jumping, off-road (dirt and grass) and general bashing? The RC will be for my 6 year old son’s Birthday, so it’s kind of a big deal on getting him something he’ll handle and not hate the hobby.

Personally, I would get the Big Rock. I like the blacked out look and the wheels/tires give it more options for jumping.

I noticed that g2 battery didnt work with the receiver as far as battery percentage. I had one work and the other one didnt

i ordered one for mrs prop. I need to teach her to bash. Figure this be fun truck. Half throttle only tho lol.

Ordered mine last night. Horizon Hobby is saying 5 weeks.

Where did you get your phone holder?

Where do you see the value add for the extra $60 over a granite? 10 mph but with no major changes to the platform? If Traxxas put out a new car that went 10mph just with a gear change and claimed it as new? You know what the reaction would be......

It's in the smart electronics. 6 channel receiver with AVC, DX3, and a 100amp ESC. It's the part they've said would raise prices if people wanted them. It's what Traxxas has been claiming makes theirs more expensive. The tires on this are also design to allow for the higher speeds. It's still just a 3s BLX using those parts, but with an electronics upgrade. But honestly, if you just price the receiver...it goes for $64.99 over the SLR300 that is $15. The DX3 sell for $45 more than the SLT3, and the esc for the most part seems close to the same. Those at retail are almost $100 more, but in a RTR they always discount those items which is why it comes in $60 more. But as I say with Traxxas...I don't want the TQi and TSM. Remove it and make it cheaper. So this extra expense is for those that would like AVC, but may be new (which is why they want it) and not comfortable swapping it in and setting it up.

One very simple reason why Traxxas is infinitely better than Arrma: Traxxas is actually able to supply their customers. I believe there isn't a single Arrma Vorteks available for sale in Europe. Now thats some serious dumb supply chain management. I want one. Whats going on?

I'm not much into aftermarket wheels and tires, so I wouldn't notice that. But they are both owned by the same parent company now, so it's possible they are using something similar.

Best 3s yet? Man I really hope not...I've been calling the Typhon the best 3s Arrma vehicle. I guess I'll have to get one too just for confirmation.

So are the ball joints any good? Big Rocks are awful.

They are the same. I have only broke one and it was a brutal crash. Honestly, I just buy a full set of built replacement axles from Jennys RC to have on-hand, because I don’t have time to figure out what parts I need to rebuild it.

Totally didn’t know it was coming. I mean...I knew from the leak there was a new car coming...but honestly thought it was out already. I actually opened it and questioned why it came after it’s been out for so long. Then learned that it was just leaked and wasn’t out. And was told yesterday not to post until today at 11am. I almost completely blew it.

I will never own a car with a slipper clutch after dealing with the slash. This is prob Arrams calling to the Hoss. The hoss is unreliable as this will be too.

my bad. I meant the 4s lineup. But I've already compared those. I'm not here to be a salesman. I just don't think these 3s lineup should be converted to 4s to be a Maxx competitor. The Maxx is a crazy tough 4s truck and there isn't a way to take the 3s BLX lineup to match it. ARRMA has other cars they do try to stack up in that range. That's all I'm saying. You just brought a gun to a knife fight with your initial comparison. But I will be honest and say that I just didn't like the Maxx. I love the X-maxx, but the Maxx just never handled like i wanted it to. Added the wide kit and followed the shock tuning advice. I preferred the handling of the Hoss.

Overpriced compared to the other 3s vehicles in that line....granite,big rock, typhon are a better deal

I detailed the price reason for Driftomaniacs on this post. People have begged for better radios. Arrma said it would cost more. This has the more expensive radio and receiver that gives it AVC gyro control. The Radio and receiver cost $100 more than the ones that come with the other cars. They are only charging $50 more for it in this RTR. So there are actual savings over aftermarket upgrades. So yes, the others are cheaper and a great deal with lesser electronics. These upgrades aren't wanted by everyone...and the other 3s vehicles have good enough radios now. But people will compare the 3s lineup to traxxas and say the reason they cost more is becuase they have better radios with TSM. Now ARRMA has one with AVC and it's still cheaper than a traxxas with TSM.
