I remember Josh from an interview your mom did with him. He is so interesting him with all the family and historical knowledge he shares. It’s a blessing to his family and other families that he shares so much on y’all’s videos that will be seen for generations to come. Y’all got some really nice things. Thank you for sharing!

What a great store. 5 years ago, a local hardware store had hundreds of Ball quart Canning jars-Green colored, six pack for about $3. Great deal, bought a lot. Washing them noticed they said” 100 years of American Heritage, 1913- 1915.... imagine the poor fella whose job it was at the factory setting up the molds and getting the years so wrong, and nobody caught the mistake. Take care

I believe in another video the gentlemen giving the tour said he was a teacher? Or was he a Principal? I hope he is still in the classroom. He is a natural at relating history. The kind of teacher you learn more from between lessons than during the formal lesson. I am somewhat of an historian myself having majored in History at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. I can picture sitting on a porch in a couple of rocking chairs talking for hours with that fella. Thanks for the video, Corie!

I live the old Appalachian way like the folks here, and I absolutely love watching this channel. I taught for ten years, and just hung it up at the end of this past school year and took a job in the private sector. I said all that to say this...my way of living was not welcomed, and I was the laughing stock for the other teachers and students. None of us need to ever change, though.

@@mountainliving1227 I believe that public schooling in America is actually dead and they just haven't buried the body yet. With programs out there like PragerU and Hillsdale College, you will see increasing numbers of people home schooling and hopefully more voucher programs starting up that can be used for private, parochial, or home schooling. Also, The Great Courses is a wonderful company. I own at least 50 of their titles on DVD and they do a great job. Parents want education for their children not indoctrination. Scott, best of luck with your new chapter in life.

The authenticity of these stuffs prove how honest people were , nowadays Chinese things dampened the market..

Josh is a gold mine of history, information and cultural humor.

Some of those old salves in jars can be incredible miracles for sore muscles or other injuries. The stuff back then never went bad and it can't be bought today.

That gentleman is a wealth of knowledge.

Wow, thank for including us on this visit to see the antiques. I loved the Hoosier cabinet with the flour dispenser. Broke my 💜❤️. My husband bought me one for our farmhouse and I kept all my baking items stored in it. I made my biscuits and other baked goods on it. What a treasure it was! I loved it. Well when we move, our neighbor said he would keep it for us 'til we got settled. He sold it out from under us and never said a word. When I asked, his son said his daddy sold it. Sorry was there was a flood in shed and it was flooded. My heart still aches over it. With "friends" like that, you don't need enemies. The man has since passed away.

This video definitely brought back some bittersweet memories. My grandparents on my dad's side loved collected antiques, almost a little too much as it probably got to hoarding at the end. But man did they have collections upon collections of neat stuff (ironstone pottery, enamelware, decoware, old bottles, etc. you name it... they had it). But when they passed I was in my early-mid teens and of course did I care or truly cherish those things at that time? Nope. My parents had to auction it all off because they definitely didn't have any space for it, but I wish I could've kept some pieces because I love antiques and rustic items. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Lucky people, I love antiques or junctiques even @75; I can still look and enjoy the smells like the wood floors of a garage.

I love old and traditional items.... I want a Kettle or two... I would've fought you for the rocker... I want one of the old soda bottles..... Well.... In fact... In truth.... I would have coveted having it all. What a treasure! This modern world has taken away the craftsmanship of the past. Where are the carpenters? Instead of "buying it at the store". If I was rich.... I would soon be poor again... Lol. I would buy me an old iron stove... And all the things my Meme spoke about when she was a child in early 1900s. She was born in 1904. What a fun time! Thx for sharing this! Obviously.. I missed this when y'all first videoed it.

I love the 3 little mugs your mom got! So much awesomeness, I’d spend hours in there! I would have absolutely snatched up that cobalt mason jar, and all the turquoise jars too 😄 love any blue glass! Those old kitchen cabinets were so cool, how they had a flour canister built in. Funny how much things change!

Jack Raper's store I've been in there many times I bought my dinette set there for my new house in 1985. I've bought many things over the years from Jack good memories. Thanks for taking me back to my childhood 🙂

Seeing that aluminum wash pan brought back fond memories of my grandmother’s kitchen. Her dish washing routine was washing dishes in the sink, rinsing them placing them on the side board to drain and then placing them in that metal pan and pouring boiling water over them to sanitize them. Sometimes they were so hot I had to wait for them to cool before I could dry them. Every dish and utensil, every meal, went into that metal pan.

Josh mentioned that about the coke bottle. A tidbit of info. I live in Monroe Louisiana where the Biedenharn Museum is located. Even though Coca Cola was invented by a pharmacist in Atlanta GA, the first person to bottle it was Joseph Biedenharn from right here in Monroe. That was in 1894 in Vicksburg MS. In 1912 he bought the bottling franchise and in 1913 moved it to Monroe and bought a plant where he was the first person to bottle coke. Right here where little ole me lives! You can buy a coke in a glass bottle for a nickel in one of those old upright coke machines. They keep the cokes so cold!! So if you’re ever in the area go by and visit the Biedenharn Museum and Gardens. You will really enjoy the gardens. They are a sight to behold in the spring!

Is a Hoosier cabinet still a Hoosier cabinet if it's in North Carolina? There have always been lots of them here, us being so close to Indiana and, sadly, they aren't worth much here anymore. There's not much interest in old stuff here anymore.

@@joyce9523 Yes, that's exactly right! The really nice ones are out there, high price and been for sale for weeks but, nobody has time for the ones that need lots of cleaning and some fixing. There's a place here that buys and sells (mostly to dealers) estates of common folk and I think the last one I saw there was $20. The ones that have been stored and forgotten get disposed of pretty quickly. It's sad but, if you put a price on your time, it doesn't make sense to fix up something with so little demand.

Ugh! I wish I was closer!! I coukd spend days in there!

Love this! There are endless possibilities in an antique store like that. We shopped for a new dining room set last year. We could not believe the poor quality that the box stores were selling and the crazy amount of money that they wanted for them. We decided to look for an antique table and found one with the claw feet. It is beautiful and was less than a third of the price of the ones sold in retail stores.

What a great vlog post. I absolutely loved seeing so many antiques and vintage things. As far as the blue canning jars…seeing so many with zinc lids was a treat. I do have quite a few in my kitchen because they compliment all my strawberry chachkes but I am told that the jar colors tell the story of the year/years they were made. I can’t say if that is true but I too have a few green colored ones as well as the clear. I bought one at a sale one time full to the brim with buttons and the buttons were an all day event looking through them. Such fun and oh the history! Tell Mom I’m gonna be watching very closely to see if I can spot any of the things she and Dad bought in future vlogs kinda like where’s Waldo😉 I’m so happy you ladies have such soft spots in your hearts for the vintage for your generation will all too soon be the gatekeepers of the past. I miss Austin when he doesn’t peek his head in your visits but I know he too has a lot going on in his life and hope all is well with his work, fishing and soon more hunting. Thanks so much for enlightening and entertaining us yet again with so much interesting content!!!:):):)

Thanks for the visit with y’all & Josh. In my day & at your ages, I would have been loading up my truck!!! I have many of those blue & green jars, which I use as canisters in kitchen. We who love collecting never tire of “looking!” You picked some neat things.

Did you know that if you keep that cobalt jar in the sun, maybe on a windowsill, it will get darker after many years? Plus it looks great in the sun!

Wow that's an awesome old store. I've got a dozen of those old half gallon canning jars. I pickle in them. My sweet grandma had 13 living children. She canned so much. Her garden was huge! I have an old canning pot of hers. It will hold all 12 of those half gallon jars, it has 2 racks. My family was really old. They were farmers they all lived through the great depression & kept that huge family fed. Most of the things there are before my time. Many looked familiar to me though. Very cool!

One quick look at Matt and I can see he's been dipping into the cocoanut. :)

I have the original amber Visions set and It is great for frig to oven or microwave. Stove-top cooking requires patience and low heat as it will burn food in a heartbeat. Most of mine came out of the Corning plant in Corning NY. You have one of the rare different colors. I think they on made to other colors blue and cranberry. You girls keep up the good content and thanks for the memories.

I have a set of those little coffee mugs that you bought, the pink and brown. I got married in 83, and they were given to me as a shower gift. So they are at least that old.
