Best and Funniest Pilot ATC Conversations

Some of the Best and funniest Pilot and Tower Air Traffic control conversations from around the world including some Hot mics where the pilots gave a passenger briefing over the radio to all pilots by mistake. Some annoyed pilots and some really chilled out pilots makes for an interesting ATC exchange.
Some of the clips are of Southwest pilots, Delta Airlines and Jetblue. I also included general Los Angeles LAX footage of Asiana A380 taking off back in March. Funnily enough I just edited this video while in Seoul awaiting to start live streaming.

    I thought I was missing something when the former navy pilot talked about his 123 carrier landings like it was a lot. I mean if you're stationed on an aircraft carrier wouldn't you be doing flights nearly daily, which hopefully includes an equal amount of takeoffs and landings, and rack up the numbers pretty fast? Oh well, I see he got some heat in the comments so I guess all is well.

  • @Winasaurus

    I figure he had plenty of non-carrier landings, but prefers to flex the carrier landings as a harder target. Plus it depends when and where the carrier is. If you're stationed anywhere near the middle east lately you'll be in the air non-stop. If you're up near canada you're not flying unless you've got a reason to.

    This is a thing that happens in Vancouver, and given the Canadian aircraft, runway numbers and WILDLIFE callsign I wouldn't be surprised if this was at YVR.

    Yes you have to speak English and also have to understand them as well. It's for in case of emergency when you having issues with your aircraft and you need assistance from the ATC.

    I recommend you listen to liveatc.com and listen to somewhere in Western Europe, I'd recommend Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, anywhere like that. In the US it's extremely informal, New York is notoriously taxing for people who speak english as a second language, this is not particularly representative, by their nature, funny incidents are non-standard phraseology. So, no. You do not need to be able to banter with controllers or anything like that, but you will need to pass various proficiency tests if it's not a native language. Understanding the radio comes with practice, I've not used one in ages, but understanding is still easy enough, when speaking anything like readbacks is standardized and you are generally only expecting one or two possible responses, so it's never really that tricky.

  • @macattack123mattc3

    @macattack123mattc3

    I'm not familiar with that area, but a basic explanation would be that "WEED" is some kind of waypoint. Most likely it is some kind of radio transmitter on the ground that sends out a signal to be used for navigation by airplanes. Another way of reading what the controller said is like me telling you to drive straight to (somewhere in your area). Direct meaning go straight there, ie: don't stop at starbucks on your way over there.

    A phone number and a special position get it up on the run-up ramp bring her up. When it starts vibrating you coming down the runway at about 110 knots you'll know when to rotate
