    Oh man, thanks for noticing! Yesss I do (or not do) the kind of stuff that drives me crazy in other videos! But I have been making videos for decades now, so it’s easier for me to know how to make better edits… Truly thank you for yet again revealing another Ugly Truth :)

    Speaking of Ugly Truths, our presenter has incorrectly calculated mass in grams (g) where the ammunition is clearly labeled in grains (gr). 20 grams = 308.65 grains = 40 joules/29 fpe @ 150 fps. Using 20 grains instead of grams, you go all the way down to 1.356 joules. Now with a 300gr arrow coming out of the Dragon Claw at 300fps, you have 80 joules/64 fpe. 9.7 grams = 150 grains = 40 joules @ 300 fps.The formula I used to calculate fpe is velocity in fps squared times weight in grains divided by 420,240

    @@luislongoria6621 Yea, no. Our presenter here was actually very correct. Many times in Europe people use gr to indicate grams. Just like in this case. So what you see marked on the box is GRAMS not GRAINS, Let's try to be careful before commenting stuff we don't know about and confuse people :)

    SORRY ABOUT THE PHONE BUDDY , it proves one thing in shooting guns or markers , even archery , moving a quarter inch off your sight can get you off target 6 inches at 10 yards ,a foot at 20 , the further you are , the MORE off it gets as distance increases ,AT 100 YARDS IT CAN MEAN 20 FEET . when i go to practice longer shots with my air powered rifles , i sit at a table and use a shooting rest , even breathing can throw you off feet from the bulls eye. with archery its way harder , it takes lots of practice to be accurate . i have told people , sight in a laser ,on rifles, pistols or bows or whatever , now with laser on , get into fire position and try to hold on target you will see the laser dot move in all directions . now with a bow ,its just about almost impossible or very very difficult to do , ITS VERY HARD TO KEEP STEADY . AGAIN ,SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR PHONE BUDDY ! :(

    Hey. Nice comparison, great video - I was surprised at the wide range of Joule readings from the different ammo. It was banging 40J+ for the first lot of ammo (homedefense 24 rubber steel). Maybe they fit the barrel the best out of the ones you tried. Sorry to see your phone got smashed but hopefully a screen replacement is all that is needed. Great video!

  • @AirgunAlley

    @AirgunAlley

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you so much!! Indeed I’m hoping that a simple change of the screen will save my phone :) And yes, absolutely baffling how big the joules power difference is. The fitting must be the main reason. Secondly I think temperature also plays a small part. The more you shoot, the colder the seals and chamber become. The order I present them in the video is not the same order in which I shot them. That maybe would’ve made things a bit more clear. Anyway, the best way to chrono test is to shoot several shots and the calculate the average power, I only shot one of each in this video. To be taken with a grain of salt for sure. Thanks again!!

    Notice the below is for lead which noticeably superior to steel and very noticeably superior to aluminum. The U.S. Army has determined that a blunt or spherical projectile has to have a velocity of at least 170 fps to pierce skin in order to reach fatty tissue and internal organs. If a person is wearing light summer clothing, then the velocity must be increased at least to 200 fps. The heavier wool clothing that a Civil War soldier wore would require more velocity than 200 fps in order for the projectile to wound. At 600 yards, the .69 cal. LEAD ball is getting close to it's velocity limit to wound. The Civil War musket mv of 1200 fps .69 cal. LEAD ball has the worst BC (0.083). With a starting velocity of 1200 fps, by the time the ball has reached 300 yards (it's "zeroed" range), it has lost nearly half of its velocity and with a 10 mph wind, blowing perpendicular to the ball's flight has pushed it 58 inches away from it's point of aim. The .69 cal. mini pointed bullet with the better BC, (0.217), but a lower starting velocity, has only been pushed 19 inches by the wind at 300 yards, but has retained about 82% of it's starting velocity and is now traveling 85 fps faster than the .69 caliber LEAD ball. At 1800 yards (slightly over 1 mile), the .69 pointed mini bullet is still traveling over 360 fps, which is fast enough to at least wound.

  • @melaninsupergurl-vu4uv

    @melaninsupergurl-vu4uv

    Жыл бұрын

    The Army experience suggests that .69 caliber lead balls require over 400 fps to penetrate heavy clothing and seriously wound in a body shot just reaching internal organ. That is 150 ft lbs of energy same as the me of a .22 LR rifle or 32 AUTO pocket pistol... Over 150 joules? If that would true maybe one is better off dropping a couple grand on a precharged pneumatic semi auto .357 carbine firing pointed hollow points... Basically a coyote hunting rig..

    I've shot my phone as well, and it's a bummer, to say the least. Here's a little suggestion with the 1/4" boards you shoot. A better support on all sides of the boards will give better results. The flexibility of the boards changes depending on where the ball strikes, making it difficult to judge the results. And even when supported from all sides, the center will flex much more than the sides. Maybe a smaller square with support all the way around. Anyway, I love your videos and awesome job filming and content.

Modern rubber and a good knowledge of how to use slingshots can be a great less than lethal as well. Now I must add....only if you truly know how to use them effectively. Otherwise, you're toast. Lol, take it easy, and thanks for the reply. Check out some slingshot channels and I think you might enjoy.

    I'm thinking the rubber steel balls do so well because the thin rubber coating makes a better seal with the barrel, reducing gas blow-by, while the steel ball gives it the mass and hardness to produce more impact. The thin rubber coating isn't enough to make a significant impact... to... the... impact... Yeah, probably not the best choice of wording there.

    I think it would look a little better if you filmed the shooting from two perspectives. once the impact of the bullet and once the firing of the weapon. You could use a small triangle like a reaction video on the bottom left to fire the weapon. I hope that doesn't sound presumptuous, it's just an idea. Thanks for the video and greetings from Germany

Now that Size of Air Pistol looks and is impressive. I converted my TR50 with the above 2 modifications. The total length of the TR50 is almost 12 inches now. Its still fits in your TR50 Holster. I’m confused and surprised that the joules of energy varied so widely among the various projectiles. I have always held the belief that joules is largely dependent on the air gun and not the projectile. That a lighter projectile will go faster and a heavier projectile will go slower but both would carry approximately the same amount of energy when fired from the same air gun.

  • @AirgunAlley

    @AirgunAlley

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Thomas! I agree with you and my conclusion is that the only consistency with these markers is their inconsistency. Absolutely true on the gun making the joules and not the projectiles. Other than the fitting factor, of course. If the slug doesn’t seal well it’ll obviously gain much less speed/power. As you know I usually shoot various shots thru the chrono per test. In this case I only shot one. So we had to rely on what the single reading told us. Which, again, can not be the most accurate. The first shots should always be more powerful as the seal and chamber are not that frozen yet. The more you shoot the colder everything gets, and that brings the power down a bit. So that also could play in. That’s my take on it :)

And that’s why now you find all kinds of projectiles that are more painful than a paintball

    The HDB 68 has the ability to lay down a massive amount of pepper very quickly! 16 rounds! I would likely alternate pepper balls and 10g metal rounds to cover the possibility of different defensive scenarios. I regard these defensive tools as launchers first as any physical damage to a perp is grounds for a potentially devastating lawsuit. In many places around the U.S., including my hometown of Rochester, NY, women are suing the city, claiming their menstrual cycles have been disrupted following exposure to pepper spray used by police during the 2020 "peaceful protests." Of course, the first reaction might be, "What complete nonsense!" However, if you are the individual being sued, it can be quite expensive and quite serious. That's just one illustration of how messed up our ability to defend ourselves has become. Using a firearm today, even if you are a police officer involved in a justified shooting, can create all kinds of personal difficulties and financial blowback. I'm just suggesting that we all use our brains in trying to figure out how we're going to defend ourselves and our loved ones and our property with the awesome tools available to us.

    10:45 my brain stopped working... The tin says 10gr ... GR is the symbol for grains not grams 🤔 10 g = 154,324 gr

    Hahaha good point! In Europe we use gr often to indicate grams. I think that’s why 🤔

    Congrats buddy. 10k is a nice place to be. Keep on truckin. Only shoots balls? Does that mean if someone breaks into my house, I can only shoot him in the balls? I guess, if I get one of those there guns I will have to practice. Any volunteers? 😜. Oh, oh. You shot your iPhone. May it 🪦😢. Well that will certainly increase your costs of making these videos. So sorry, my friend. Hey, at least you destroyed some more Spagetti-Os. Love that gun, love the video. See ya next round.

    @@AirgunAlley where can you find my music? Good question. If you do happen to find it, would you be so kind to as to let me know. 😂 it’s a long story that, in some way, ends with an injury to my left thumb that now makes it very difficult to play guitar without a lot of discomfort and at times, a lot of pain. Years ago, my brother and I owned a recording studio. It was sooo much fun. I even recorded two songs. I had recorded them for my wife, then fiancé. So, all plans are on hold, but looks like it’s over as I have tendinitis in the thumb which makes it near impossible to play. But, I had a good ride while it lasted. Recording, playing in bands. Oh well, that’s life. Take care. See you on the Tube.

    Ciao Valerio!
