    keeping the "partier" trait is a fantastic way to mask a serious problem until a certain age. i'm an addict and could probably pass it off as partying at my age (mid twenties) but carrying it into later years it's just... not remembering how to hide it anymore, i think. or being so gone that you don't realize that your lie died a decade or two back. i would feel sick bragging about my drinking even now though and only half bc the booze causes nausea

Bert figured out his gimmick and an audience that enjoys the show and has ran with it. That doesn’t make him a great comedian he’s good at his brand.     Dude PERFECTLY put! I was such a mommy back in 2018/2019, but maaaan they have just fallen off. Christina has never been funny, but now she just bitches about everything she thinks is "woke" while living in a mansion her husband bought--as if her life is so hard. I was HYPED for 2B1C when it first came out, I was like "They're finally doing a pod together!" And then like 6 months in I realized it was just Bert talking over Tom the whole time, saying the same shit, being delusional, and just not funny. Both of Bert's specials fucking suuuuuuck and Tom's recent Sledgehammer had maybe one or two good jokes. I'm all on the Shane Gillis and MSSP train now. Shane's probably the funniest comedian in the game right now.

    @@sydurgraham7760 Thanks dude. About 4 months ago the mighty algorithm started showing me Shane Gillis clips and it didn't take me more than about 48 hours to get fully on the Shane Train. Then MSSP came into my life, and to this day that is pretty much all I binge when I'm not sleeping or at work. The amount I laugh with Shane and Matt compared with even the best days of Bert and Tom is staggering. I'll still throw Burr's MMCP and Jeselnik's JRVP in there (sorry Gregg) because I think they're both excellent, but YMH and Bert have pretty much exited from my brain at this point

    It's his whole shtick. Being a fat drunken dumbass who takes his shirt off and still parties in his 50s. His fanbase is basically the same--people in their 30s-50s who are alcoholics and want to hear the machine, listen to other party stories, and only listen to Bert's comedy because they don't know any others. He's this generation's Jeff Dunham in the sense that a TON of people only listen to this one comedian because of their shtick.

    Comedy and "content creation" is all tangled up. Bert is applying the KZread algorithm to real life. Just keep delivering content. Consistency is more important than quality. He's hacked the matrix in a way and Joe Rogan was his Morpheus that opened the door for him. It's not just him. It's most of these content creator comedians.

    Bert is actually completely correct here. He’s not saying he’s special, he’s saying he got lucky and got in at the right time. He’s 100% dead on about how difficult it is to actually make a real living in comedy. It IS oversaturated. It DOES take a lot of steps to become successful. He’s not bragging, he’s warning.

    Bert is funny and sometimes he’s even hilarious. No he’s not going to be remembered as one of the greats but most comedians won’t be remembered that’s way. The Machine story when it first came out was genuinely one of the funniest stories I’ve ever heard and obviously a lot of people feel that way or Bert wouldn’t be as successful as he is.

My favorites are all old like Carlin, Pryor, Norm, old Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams. Newer comedians favorites are Bill Burr, Kevin Hart, Jimmy Carr and probably 1-2 I can’t think of right now but I’m sure you get the idea lol

    I think Bert was just acknowledging that he got really lucky (by being in Rogans orbit) and for most young aspiring comics that just wont end up being the case. Same goes for athletes, actors and musicians in that even if you have the talent and drive the odds just aren't good if you don't know somebody or have a some kind of inside track. The sad truth is you are more likely to end up living in your car than you are living in a nice home that you own. When you have a thousands of people desperately angling for the one spot that makes it big the entire industry just reeks of desperation and despair.

    I agree with this, anyone wanting to go into comedy, or approach Hollywood, needs to remember it's called the rejection grind for a reason. It's an extremely competitive industry, and also will cost a lot of money to participate in, in many cases. Burt said just that and he wasn't wrong. He said nothing about talent, so this video felt nitpicky and unnecessary.
