The 14D zipper foot is amazing! I ordered it after watching this video and following the techniques shown, ended up with a beautifully sewn zipper on velvet!!

Hi Gayle, I forgot about the bar tack stitch. I’ve used the sew on button stitch.

Wondering why you don’t sew right around the zipper. Why do you restart at top of each side? Never seen thus before. Love your videos though. ❤

Because it prevents puckering on slippery fabrics. Plus the BERNINAs provide exact seam allowances on both sides of the needle making this really fun and easy

Hanna Mansfield with the BERNINA free hand system (otherwise known as the knee lever which allows you to lift the presser foot with your knee).
