bernette b79 changing stitch plate, feet and cleaning machine.

Here I am on the new bernette b79, I am changing the machine from sewing over to embroidery mainly focused on switching out stitch plates, feet and while we have it all open also taking out the bobbin case and cleaning. This applies to all of the bernette 70 series machines b79, b77, and b70.

Thanks so much for your wonderful videos! I just got a b79 and can't take advantage of the dealers classes at this time. Honestly though I think your videos are even better bc I can play them slow and can see everything up close. Thanks again for all you do!

Ty so much! I just got my b79 last week. It is really easy to get that bobbin case in wrong. It can look right except when you put your plate on it is raised a hair on the right, then you know you did it wrong. The bobbin case must sit up on the left edge of the circle and then the plate lays flat.

Cody - Bobbin tensioin?- thank you for your videos- I just brought home my own Bernette B79 - and my bobbin tension appears to be a bit too tight ( using the tighten uppe tension and balance button do no change this) I have a yelllow dot of sealant on my bobbin tension screw which I can see you "used" to have on yours only it looks as if part of your yellow dot has been removed so you could turn the screw. Is that what happened ? or did you take it in to a dealer to do it for you? Ive had a bernina before and am used to using that screw on rare occasioins to adjust the botto thread more perfectly. But I don't want to hurt mu new baby. thanks if you see this and can answer.

This is a great video for cleaning the bobbin area. I need to oil the needle bar. How do you get that plug out to get to the screw to remove the cover??

I use the corner of my screwdriver to pry it off. Bernina Jeff has a great video on how to open the top to oil that part!

Been looking around for the answer and cant find it. What is the thickest fabric this machine can properly sew? How many layers? Can the pressure foot be lifted?

This is a great question and there is no perfect answer. We find it skips stitches if you go through multiple layers of batting (4) and (4) layers of quilting grade cotton fabric. Thats one example we've encountered. The bernette machines don't have as powerful of a motor as the BERNINA machines. For everyday fabrics and projects it does perfect but 1/4'' + compressed thickness multiple layers it struggles. Hope this helps and makes sense.

It really bothered me to unscrew and rescrew the stich plates all the time when you want to change into sewing or stiching mode...
