He'll always be Captain Smith to me. Other actors who did well playing Smith was Brian Aherne (Titanic 1953), Laurence Naismith (ANTR 1958), and George C. Scott (The Titanic 1996). I wasn't too impressed with some of the others and I haven't really seen the 2012 mini-series from start to finish.

Caused a huge debate at uni as we used Yosser Hughes for a case study, I would have found Yosser every stick of furniture he needed and every charitable donation so get him through so that he could keep his kids. My lecturer queried how I’d do that, I liked him straight in the eye and said I’d beg for it from every resource, there is always a way. The point is his acting was so brilliant that we believed Yosser was real, and his kids. A sad sad loss.

Honestly, I mostly remember this guy from "The Lord of the Rings" movies (sequels), but I honestly had no idea he played the doomed Captain in 1997's "Titanic", probably because I was kid when I watched that on. Sad to hear he's gone. R.I.P. Bernard Hill. 😢

You guys know nothing! Titanic, yes, many films previous to that and then, of course, the Iconic King Theoden in Lord Of The Rings. Son Gabriel, yes, but also Daughter Jay. Please do your research before publishing such inaccuracies at such a sensitive time for the family just to get clicks. As a Brit he was one of our finest actors. Please don't bastardise his legacy. The people at his funeral will blow your tiny minds if you care to even cover it. There will be everyone there from the Hollywood/acting fraternity through to the British acting film/theatre aristocracy, so please don't even try to put this man into your "celebrity" gossip columns... He is so far removed from this.

His portrayal of Yosser Hughes was profound, absolutely brilliant.

I soon as I played this video, I recognized Bernard Hill INSTANTLY. HE WAS Theoden!?! First Carl Weathers, now Bernard Hill. May he Rest In Peace.
