Bermuda 1-2 solo sailing on J/111 BLUR
Спорт
I needed a personal challenge. Sailing solo from Newport, RI, to Bermuda, was definitely out of my comfort zone, and I wasn't sure if it was a good idea.
My goal was to get there in one piece and to find out what happens in my head when I'm alone in the ocean. It was an amazing experience and I hope to do more solo sailing/racing.

Great job and a lot of fun Peter, thanks for sharing!!!!
Nicely done Peter. Brings back lots of memories of the race. The start, the fog, the GS and the joy of the finish. Great to meet you and hope to see you on the race course next year - Phil sv Fearless

Thank you so much for helping out and inspiring me along the way. People like you are the reason I love solo and shorthanded sailing. I'll reach out when I'm back in the US:
Great footage, perfect camera angles and a soundtrack as smooth as the sea at 2:35. The usual stuff from Blur, in other words! Thanks for taking us along on the journey and congrats on this great achievement!
Congrats Peter!! What a nice ride, hope to see you in mediterranean waters!
Great sailing, well done! It's already quite a handful managing the boat but you also managed to capture great footage!
Great music pieces
Nice boat, experienced skipper, beautiful images, WELL DONE !
such a nice video!
This is great. She looks like she's a blast to sail.

Thanks. Slowly gearing up to the crazy projects you're involved in 😀
Awesome story and the commentary makes it easy to put us there. Thanks so much for making this video, I found myself wondering how much effort setting the camera was in some of those shots!

You always need more different perspectives when editing, so something I am trying to get better at this, The "poor mans drone" = long carbon stick taped to the pushpit 🙂
wow I can actually feel the excitement
nice hat
Nice video and you picked a good sound track as well.
Great footage, well done
Great job Mate. Those of us from the area know that cap is a Red Sox cap, not a "B" for Blur - but it works both ways.

I know. Boston is one of my favorite cities, so sailing out of Newport is convenient. Hopefully, I get to catch a game in 2024.
great video
You make soloing the 111 look easy!

The nice thing is the J/111 was designed for minimal crew, no excuse for the years pf experience though
Vackert!
👏👏👏👏👏
I always thought the unwritten rule was that Jboats names started with a J
Well done Peter, fantastic achievement, you must be really pleased. And what was the verdict afterwards - never again - or now that you have had time to dwell on it, perhaps, maybe again.

I said before the race, "I hope I hate this" since that would have made my life easier. But I loved it and would like to do it again. Sadly, the next edition in 2025 is at the same time as Transpac, which has been at the top of the bucket list for a while.
Offshore alone with an open transom.
What type of mini dodger is that? love the idea!

Made it myself. More photos if you scroll down here www.blur.se/2015/07/24/j111-blur³-offshore-mode/
Nice video, but one question came to mind. Have you ever considered attaching your harness in the middle of the boat, so that you can not fall overboard. Now if you fall overboard you will potentially have a slow and painful death?

I usually clip in to windward with a short tether.
5:12 is that kicker you are trying to loose ? Or main sheet is just strange to see it coming from the cockpit (to me)

Yup, it’s the kicker. Main sheet is on the cockpit floor, but much harder to work after a broach.
Looking to do this race in 2025!

That was a cool video. It would have been great to hear the wind and waves a little bit though.
