Berlin Tegel Airport had been named by Otto Lilienthal and is located close to the city center of the German capital Berlin. A short taxi ride or the bus will get you to the city center.
This airport is planned to be closed permanently during the year 2020. All the commercial traffic will be moved to the new BER airport, which is located much further away from the city center on the grounds of the old Berlin Schoenefeld airport.
I was asked to publish an approach video to Berlin Tegel. So I checked my archive and found this video, which I did not publish before. It was recorded at a time, shortly before the German airline Germania went out of business. In the video there are Germania airplanes visible on the ground. Also the maintenance hangar, which the airplane passes shows the airberlin sign. airberlin was already out of business but the sign had not been removed or exchanged.

I agree. The small round lake on the left side of the approach path at 3:29 is named „Schäfersee“. Translated it would be something like „Lake shepherd“

Da stimme ich voll zu. Tegel war toll. Kurze Wege, nahe am Zentrum ..... Schade, dass der Flugplatz komplett geschlossen wurde.

@@ApproachandDepartureVideosMein erster Flug von Tegel war zu Westberliner Zeiten mit Britisch Airways nach DUS als ich 6 Jshre alt war. Vermisse Tegel. BER ist eine Schande für Berlin.

Thanks! In Germany on IFR flights (Instrument Flight Rules), which are done by the airlines, English has to be used. If you fly VFR (Visual Flight Rules), which is done most of the time by small general aviation airplanes, you can use English or German. Some small sport airports allow only communication in German language.

Ja, das stimmt. Tower war auch Ground. Deshalb gab es keinen Frequenzwechsel nach der Landung bzw. nach dem Überqueren der Parallelbahn.

The FS2020 is already very good, but the real views from the airplane are still unbeatable.

I would love to give you a ride on the flight deck. But it is not permitted anymore. As I started flying larger airplanes, we had aviation interested passengers on a lot of flights on the flight deck. It is a shame that we can't do this anymore.

No, it is Eurowings. But Eurowings is part of the Lufthansa group.
