    @@daviddang82 It's a bit less one sided than in cycling, I mean cycling, every move is for the leader, here it's a bit more even between team members, but yeah they will work together, stay together, take the wind for the "leader(s)" and if one goes in a break away, the others will try to keep the groupe away from this breakaway

  • @Tomas-ml9nv

    @Tomas-ml9nv

    5 жыл бұрын

    The speeds are not similar in the slightest, a peloton cycling that marathon would smash 42km/hour you also need to take into account power to speed ratio is not linear

    @@Tomas-ml9nv The speeds are more similar that you might think. Bart's record was basically a solo breakaway early in the race and an average speed of over 42km/h. This would be a challenging pace for a solo biker who was not on a velodrome.

    M Kufer individual pro TT riders clock speeds, alone, without any draft aspect of over 43 k an hour, a flat course like Berlin they would easily sustain almost 50 k an hour . A peloton of pro riders can easily reach speeds of over 50 k an hour sustained. Maybe if you are at your local bike race, yeah, they probably are similar, a pro cyclist could easily abolish any of these turds

    On bicycle lanes. At the local track if you have one near you. On ordinary road if it is not forbidden where you live or if you have an empty place where you don't meet law enforcement. Very early in the morning on secondary roads with a trainer who escort you on a bike. In an industrial complex or a parking lot. At a rink used as in the short track competitions in ice skating. Still easier than training for ski jumping or bobsleigh...

    @@allgoo1964 Nop. There are people who like quads and a few specific competitions for them but otherwise in line skates are way faster not much for the weight but rather for the rolling resistance. Also technique is much closer to ice skating and several athletes practice both mass start on ice and in line. I am not sure whether they are explicitly forbidden but you don't see them anywhere near the top.

    @@billybull7419 I'm not sure how into endurance sports you are, but as a competitive cyclist and former competitive nordic skiier I can say that when you see a performance like this at the elite level, usually something's up. At these speeds, drafting plays a big role and being solo, in the wind for that long is very very difficult for one person to do without being caught by the group behind working together to chase you down. She was skating almost casually at times and hardly faded. You rarely see this type of performance in endurance sport that's not at least a little suspicious. So I hope that JADA was there to do some testing on the winners.

By being in front of the break he's offering the athlete a slight draft and a pace setter. I can assure you the teams who had to do the chasing were pissed.

    More than half of the top 20 guys are doing speedskating on the ice during winter on Olympic/ world class level, winning world cups and Olympic medals now. But there are slight differences in technique like double push (underpush on outside edge followed by slightly less pronounced regular push to the outside).
