The late Panthers can be pretty good in defense with FA10, concealment and long range but it depends on what the other side is bringing. In one game I took a US Sherman force from the Bulge book and the HVAP command card, to give all the 76mm guns AT13. I rushed them up the table under smokescreens (US get cheap arty for that) and then totally wasted a unit of Panthers at short range, taking advantage of their stabilisers. In the same game a Chaffee got round the side of a King Tiger at short range and took it out. The Germans hung on to win as they had lots of infantry and AT guns dug in round objectives but then my opponent is a really good FoW player and is part of Breakthrough Assault + does help out BF

That command card is going to make quite a difference to the US performance.
The green panther last stand would be 4+ since they are confident

You are absolutely right, I should not have said green; I think the point is still valid though, that a 4+ is not a reliable number to be rolling for such expensive equipment.
A nice little look at the force and some lovely looking models. You never really think of these guys having to go to "school" so this is a nice addition.

OK Kaiser. Those paint jobs are superb! They all look spectacular, especially the Panthers. Well done!

@@ModellingforAdvantage I’d be happy to see them on my table any day! You underestimate them.

It's a great fun list. When things go south, they go south fast, but if they don't - those big cats dominate.
Same with the tiger ii--- green does not mean last stand

Yup.
I might get this just to paint up in the half-primer schemes I see of tanks rushed to east Berlin in the last months of the war.

Nice idea.
These are Germans. They still got the punsh. That's what a german player should use. An allied player should use smoke as often as possible against thise big cats. In general: I agree with you. If you paid a lot of points for a unit it makes no sense to keep them away from the center of fighting. They have to show that they are worth the points. If you don't do this the enemy will eat up your cheaper units first and very soon you will face the problem of being significant outnumbered.

I should have used smoke from my 105mm shermans but forgot that tactic.
