We love Berlin! A handy hint- the hotels just off Ku'damm in Charlottenberg are often like-for-like significantly cheaper than in the centre of Berlin (we always stay in the Charlottenberg Sofotel). It's a 5 minute walk to the U-bahn station at the zoo so you can be in the centre in 10 minutes. And I agree the Christmas market that costs 1 euro is an absolute delight (and has Belgian waffles)

Loved this Emma; I lived in Berlin for 3 years, recently relocating back to Sydney. I lived on a road running parallel to kurfürstendamm (AKA Ku'damm) which was wonderful. Hermes was about a 2 minute walk from my place; I used to have my daily walk on Ku'damm from north to south (7km there and back)...amazing! Unfortunately, the Christmas markets were not really my thing (too grockle-y), but understand how appealing they can be if you come from a different culture. I loved the history of Berlin; there is a wealth of culture on just about every single street. Well worth a visit if any of your subscribers may be thinking about a visit to this city! Summer is much nicer (than winter) as Berlin has its own micro-climate; it hardly ever rains and the summers are sunny, warm and very long! ❤

I am also from Sydney but have German heritage. KaDeWe is pronounced Ka De Vay. It is short for Kaufhaus des Westens which means Department store of the West. It was fun to watch Emma's video and reminisce

The last time we went to Berlin was in December. We literally spent hours in KaDeWe (= department store of the west) in the most amazing food department!!! My french me was in paradise. You can buy AND eat there. It can become really busy and crowded. But it's really worth it! I also recommend to visit the several Christmas markets in Düsseldorf and Hamburg (nice cities for luxury shopping too BTW). My top favorite Christmas market is in Trier: 1) It has a really lovely atmosphere. 2) In about 40 minutes you can be in Luxembourg City and make some luxury shopping there. Emma, do you have interesting Christmas markets in the UK you can recommend? Thank you for sharing!

What a difference 6 weeks makes!! I went to Berlin the last weekend of October, and we were lounging outside on terraces in t-shirts (while still walking 30 000 steps per day; it was my children's first time). Thank you for this gorgeously atmospheric video. (Fun fact: I am a Berlin Legend: I ran the marathon there in 2019 LOLOL).
