Berjaya Times Square Theme Park in Malaysia is Weird

In late 2023 we visited one of the strangest parks ever. Berjaya Times Square Theme Park (formerly known as Cosmo's World) is an indoor park in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. What we encountered within was something we couldn’t prepare for. A waterless aquarium, gaudy bright-coloured fibreglass props, and an indoor coaster that traversed through a giant pair of flower lips.

I went there in 2008 and spent 30 minutes on the bumper cars with 4 other people, the rollercoaster was great since the park was fairly empty it was choice of seats too, I remember that there was an observation bridge goes through the loop of the rollercoaster too, it certainly brought back memories watching your video. Thanks for the upload.

this places was a hit back in the days! i think it was the 2nd indoor park with rollercoaster going out of the building after the Cineleisure in Cheras. It was really crowded too even on weekdays. But i guess like u said it seems like it frozen in time with the outdated decor and designs but i really glad its still there. The mall surrounding it has seen better days but even with the chaotic mall managment im glad they still maintain and even upgraded this old theme park. I recently bring along my 2 kids there and they had a blast!

If an aquarium does not have water, then it ain't an aquarium. MAS has a special aquarium which is by evidence not an average aquarium to where man have ever been to.🐟

The park was originally name as " cosmos world " indoor theme park, thus you can see some of the galaxy & giants plants , as they do have prof cosmos & his friends as the mascot way back then. The park have few thrill rides like space attack ( twin clock inverted ride ) by intamin & dna mixer ( both already being closed ) the park is still popular during school holidays / holidays seasons in malaysia.

My favorite part - no offense to the muppet-looking flower - is that there's a Kenny Rogers Chicken Roaster in the same building. That's weird and cool - this whole thing is! I've heard of the old Sid & Marty Krofft park that was briefly at Atlanta (Podcast: The Ride has a great episode on it; Viewist has a pretty great video on it) and this gives me major similar vibes. The oversized props are definitely cut from the same cloth (though the World of Sid & Marty Krofft had things like giant mimes and crystal carousels). I can totally understand why this feels nostalgic then, and would love to visit something like this. I guess I'm close enough to New Jersey that I should check out the American Dream Mall's Nickelodeon Universe this spring or summer. It's not the same, but I would like to see an indoor theme park at some point... even if Nick Universe is lacking in the "oversized props" theming ;)

I feel like the success of BTS Theme Park should be a wake-up call for more extreme rides to be built in Malaysia. Other than Genting Highlands, there's not a lot of great options unless you're a big fan of Water Parks (which I despise). Malaysian Theme Parks seem to always be family-oriented & it stinks.

The way you describe feeling unsafe on the coaster is bizarre and a bit racist. It's a well-maintained Intamin coaster that has never had any issues, in a clean and bright park. Why did you feel unsafe? Because Malaysians run it?

Hi Malaysian here (who's been to the park since I was a child) I've slowly shyed away from riding the coaster over the years solely because it's horribly maintained alongside feeling like a ride away from falling off the track.

@@starkidmercer and I was there a month ago. It’s a major ride built by a Swiss manufacturer that has not had a single incident in its 21 year history. Can you provide any evidence that it is “horribly maintained”? Even in this video you can see how clean and well kept the park is - they even pointed out the tower ride was closed for annual maintenance when they visited, indicating a recurring schedule of maintenance to maintain the rides. He also said the ride was surprisingly good. Leaves me to wonder if the only reason they question the safety of the coaster is because it’s in Malaysia.
