Bamboo is really hard to find in Detroit. Most of the bamboo I came across at my local hardware store was either cracked, or too thin. I found a type of bamboo used for artware online from China, that has thick fiber, and is thin. I think this would be the best quality. It is not bent, but is dry, so that should be fine for vergas. Anyways, Muitos Obrigados.

So if it's already dry, should you try to bend it, and see how much pressure it can take? or should I buy fresh bamboo and let it dry?

Not bad. Wish there was more to it though in one video

Hi Souza. There's a capoeira song that says that a Berimbau is a bit of wire the cabaça and a stick. You're right! And this stick and wire makes a fantastic instrument. Thanks for coming by and sharing your thoughts!

Legal Celso! Sim! A beriba inclusive faz parte da origem do nome berimbau! Mas a beriba não está à disposição para todas as pessoas, no Brasil e principalmente no exterior! O bambu é muito popular e encontrado no mundo inteiro. Os berimbaus de bambu também em um ótimo som, resistência e leveza! Outras madeiras, além da beriba e o bambu também podem ser utilizadas pára fazer o berimbau, como o jacarandá! Inda bem que o mundo é grande e a natureza cheia de diversidade! Forte abraço!
