I’m confused. In what world is a 7lb rifle considered “fairly heavy”?

I took the sling swivels off mine and used automotive plastic pushpins to cover the holes. A much cleaner look, and I just use the flush cup slings. Absolutely love that rifle so far

I'm running the B14 HMR in 308 with a VX5 3-15x with an illuminated dot over duplex crosshairs. Ran into the same issue with the Leupold extra throw lever hitting the bolt knob.. actually knocked the scope off zero.. I run a Larue Tactical 2 point adjustable sling on my walk into the stand.. but +1 to your evaluation of the Crest.. stock design is super comfortable, ergonomic for your wrist.. overall a great product for the $$.. customer service is also top notch..

I have the b14 wilderness ridge 6.5 creedmoor 18inch sp barrel. Still a heavy rifle with a smooth action. Great shooter.

7.1 lbs is not really heavy. Most of your rifles before 10 years ago were 7.5 lbs and heavier. I would agree that the bigger scope definitely adds quite a bit to the overall weight and balance. A VX 5HD 3.5-15x44 would be a perfect choice for any hunting rifle actually and not be too heavy. I also agree that it would be nice to have a flush fit magazine so you can carry it from underneath the scope. I would love a 7 PRC if they made it in left hand.

I think if it was the same weight but in a spotter style stock it wouldn’t seem as heavy

Love that carbon fiber stock. Ive got a Bergara hmr pro in 6.5 creedmoor and its also the smoothest action ive ever tried. Its almost too smooth because if i dont count my rounds i cant feel it not pickup a round. I just wish it wasnt so picky on ammo.

I meant entry level for what you’re getting. As far as carbon fiber stocks, nice triggers etc, it’s on the lower end of the spectrum.

@@cxerphax1 The Bergara is very nice but the seekins feels much better in my opinion, and for whatever reason the seekins seems to feel like the recoil is more of a shove than a punch in 7 prc, I will agree you do get a lot of gun for the cost with the bergara but my vote is seekins hands down.

I'm also not a fan of those Accurate Mag magazines. Extremely noisy, loose fitting, and they don't even make a 7PRC yet so you are stuck with a 300WM magazine. Unfortunately when I tried to swap it out of my Fierce for a Magpul AICS polymer magazine it did not fit at all.. it just fell out. so much for having a standard.

Pierce engineering makes actions that are even slicker than the B14. I like the B14 though, and gave one in 300win. Unfortunately it’s not shoot able at the moment due to a fall when backpacking. Broke the stock lol.

When you put bullets in the magazine, it does not rattle at all. You are not going to go hunting with an empty magazine.

My Crest in 6.5 CM does not rattle at all with ammo in the magazine only when there is no ammo in the mag. I have the original 5rd Bergara mag and 1 Magpul 5 rd mag also (2), 10 rd magpul mags and no rattle with ammo in the mags when inserted into the rifle.@@gear101.

I have this in 7mm PRC. I feel the same about the magazine. I like metal. However, this one is loud and a poor fit. It has a lot of movement even with rounds in it. The rest of the rifle is high quality and the magazine fit feels like an afterthought.

If you need to remove the break, put a straight screwdriver through the ports and use it as a breaker bar. May want to try a Tract Scope.

A lot of the times I carry my rifle upside down, holding it where the box magazine is protruding out. That would be a problem, with this stock. It really is a bench rest application and NOT are hunting carry stock. I do like the stock though...it is a comfortable stock to shoulder. A 20 - 22 inch stock is just as accurate as a 24 or 26 inch. The difference is velocity that the longer presents over the shorter. Christ Bless!

You can get that break off with an Allen wrench going through the ports. I tried a wooden dowel, and it didn’t work.

Great review, but I have few suggestions. The trigger is Bergara's, not from Trigertech. Your scope rings are too low. That is why you are running into clearance issues with the bolt and scope's zoom lever when it is closer to its max zoom. If you opt for medium height rings, you will not have issues. You can remove the muzzle brake with an allen key or screw driver that fits through the holes of the brake. Currently, it does not appear to be a polymer AICS mag for 6.5 PRC/300 WSM that will fit your riffle without replacing the bottom piece. The street price on that rifle appears to be at 1400 to 1500, which makes this rifle very competitive, but still somewhat pricey. The major plus is that you can buy a new truefit barrel from Bergara for 500 or so, and it will be one that is from their Premier series. So, overall it is not a bad choice, but there are nicer rifles for far less money. Sako S20 is on sale for a 1000 bucks. Slightly hevier, but the bolt throw is at 60 degrees compared to the 90 degrees with this rifle, and you can go with the low height rings. The biggest con is the metal mag, which is cheap, and it rattles as you said, and it sticks out. Maybe a hinged floor plate will be the best alternative since the flush magazines will srill stick out and require you to buy a new bottom piece. I am curious if the street price will go up as it did with the Spriengfield 2020 Waypoint after the positive reviews.

I apologize for the mistake regarding the trigger, and I appreciate you clearing that up. Regarding the scope, I feel that’s preference, there’s plenty of clearance between scope and barrel and I like having scopes mounted low, and the cheek riser isn’t nearly enough for any taller rings.
