I came for a listen after seeing an advert for a concert featuring this piece. I was thinking ‘serialism - a nice idea but no-one really goes to listen to that stuff do they?’. Pleasantly surprised by this piece - it is quite beautiful, and not the 12-tone cacophony I was expecting!

What a wonderful performance by soloist as well as orchestra! Such colorful clarity. It's almost chamber music at times. Bravi!

Wahrlich erstklassig!

You are right mr. JP, absolutely right. The period of that time of this concert, has been classified " the time of complete loss of the human reason . Einstein declared : two things are infinite : the Universe and the human stupidity _ Here a true example of human stupidity - Sorry for my poor english. A few years later of this music the big explosion of stupidity : the second W W -

@Miquéias Sousa I have put the question to you: explain me the reason of your love for Berg's music. You dont answer at all. Now i'll tray to show my tought : "In the history of mankind we can accept two current of tought : the rationality and the opposite, the irrationality. ( Here remember the irrational numbers, mistery never solved ) We are facing two or three towsand years of the struggles between this two philosophies. The rationality attempts to understand and find out the methodical arrangement of the world with the presence of human mankind. The current of irrational toughts leads to the catyastrophe ( example , the second World War caused by nazism and bolscevism ) .Nearly 1850 - 60 the irrational philosophiy had flourisced , more than in the past, in Europe, in politics , social sciences, arts, history ecc. ecc. The painting of cubism, little later, begun the destruction of the beauty canon Side by side the same destruction grown up in the classical music . Ref to,: Schoenberg, Alban Berg, Webern all influenced by the jewish tought of Schoenberg Karl Kraus, Peter Altenberg, Gustav Mahler, Schnitzer and other intellectual living in Austria. They have had a great weight in the culture before the first world war. Pitagora 2500 years ago found some sound of a blacksmith agreeable and others disturbing his ear. He descovered the dissonance and the assonance or armony . They are originated by the simple ratio between two sounds or specific frequency of vibration. Dissonances are present in all musical compositions of the begining 1900. Included Alban Berg. Paradox : the violin concert on which we are discussing has title " To the memory of an angel ". The angel was the little dead son of Gustav Malher and Alma Schindler " What do you think : This horrible music is suitable for the eternal rest in peace of the little angel? Answer pls. to me : why do you like this music? I will learn some thing more . Greatings
